About the Accommodation:
The Murmeltier-Stube is located in the heart of the "Zell am See - Kaprun" ski and mountain region, within walking distance of the lake, which features a private swimming beach (200 m). It’s ideally situated, whether you enjoy skiing in the winter, prefer to spend a beach vacation at the swimming beach in the summer, or would like to go hiking. In any case, you’ll soon forget the stress of everyday life.
You can reach us by car or by public transportation (Zell am See train station, then by bus to the stop 200 m away). You can park your vehicle in the designated parking areas of the residential complex using an access card.
Upon arrival, you’ll find a cozy, stylishly furnished apartment where you’ll immediately feel at home in the mountains. From the sunroom and balcony, you’ll enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. Hiking trails and a cross-country ski trail (in winter) are located in the immediate vicinity.
In addition to a bedroom and living room, the apartment includes a bathroom, a separate restroom, and a kitchen. A shared washing machine is available in the attic (for a fee).
What I like about my place:
Our family has owned this apartment since 1972. As a child, I not only learned to ski here, but also to swim, and even back then I enjoyed hiking in the mountains. That hasn’t changed to this day, and I’ve been able to pass this love on to my children, with whom I enjoy spending vacations here and engaging in both sports activities and excursions to tourist attractions and scenic spots in the surrounding area.
Accordingly, I use the apartment myself a few times a year. On these occasions, I always check that everything is in order and arrange for maintenance work to be done on the apartment—or carry it out myself. It’s important to me that the apartment is always in good condition.
Surroundings and tourist destinations:
The private swimming beach is only about a 200-meter walk from the apartment. The town center of Zell am See, where the valley station of the Zeller Bergbahn leading to the “Schmittenhöhe / Sonnenalm” ski area is located, is easily accessible by bus (bus stop approx. 200 m away). In addition to Austrian specialties at the numerous restaurants, you can also enjoy the nightlife (après-ski in winter) here. There is a sports center with an ice rink, where the local ice hockey club plays its games, and an Ozon indoor swimming pool. The old town is characterized by numerous buildings from the late Middle Ages.
The expanded ski area also includes the “Saalbach-Hinterglemm” region, which has hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships several times and will host them again in 2025. Both areas are connected to Leogang via a ski shuttle.
Kaprun, with its ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, the “Moserboden” reservoir, a beautiful gorge, and the Tauern-SPA, is approximately 10 km away.
Day trips are ideal to Europe’s longest summer toboggan run in Saalfelden, the Großglockner, the Kitzloch Gorge in Taxenbach, Werfen Castle, the Krimml Waterfalls, or even further afield to Salzburg and the salt mine in Berchtesgaden.
Fans of sailing, aviation, and paragliding will also find plenty to enjoy in Zell am See.
