The Coach House is a beautiful lofted apartment attached to owner’s lake front property on Wonder Lake. It is perfect for families, remote workers, couples, and small groups. This modern day Coach House has a private entrance and living quarters. Enjoy the unique Art Deco/Fusion interior design. The Coach House is cozy yet spacious and features high cathedral ceilings, two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, and a private entrance. The unit sleeps 4-5 comfortably. The professionally landscaped resort like grounds has access to swing set, sand beach, 2 hole putting green, kayaks, canoes, a row boat.
Enjoy fishing from piers, sunsets, and a fire pit near the lake.
We're conveniently located just 50 miles from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Great Lake getaway near Chicago!

We had a great stay at wonder Lake. We loved how close it was to Chicago and easy to get to. We had plenty of room for our family of 3 plus our dog. Pam and Bruce were available for anything we needed but were not in our way at all. The lake was great and had everything we needed.

Wonderful family vacation spot!

We loved our time at this property. Communication with host was excellent, property is well-stocked and convenient, and the scenery is beautiful! Lots of kayaks, paddle boards, and toys for the private beach. Everything we needed was available. This was our second stay at this location, and we look forward to returning. Highly recommend!!

fantastic place

Really fab place with so much water equipment available to use. Much more than advertised. My kids loved the kayaking, paddleboarding, corn game, pitch & putt, table tennis, campfire and the fishing . Pam and Bruce are the perfect hosts in every way and i would recommend this place to anyone. we all had a great stay, thanks again

Lovely family environment

We rented both properties and had a large family reunion. Such lovely views and plenty of space to gather and enjoy all the activities available. We all enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards, fire pit, corn hole, and relaxing on the porch. Bruce and Pam run a top notch vacation spot! Thank you for your hospitality!!

Great additional house adjacent to “Classic Lakehouse”

Our big extended family stays here and at the adjacent Classic Lakehouse. There’s so much to do at this property - kayaks, paddle boards, rowboat, firepit, fishing off the dock, swingset. We take advantage of everything and love it - it’s our 8th year staying here! The owners, Bruce and Pam, are gracious and so helpful. Can’t say enough about them and this vacation spot!

Lovely getaway, perfect setting!

From making our reservations, arriving at the property, and staying there for 4 nights, we had a lovely time! Great activities available on the lake (kayaks, paddle boards, row boat, canoe), fire pit, plenty of comfortable seating, and a great beach! The house was clean, well stocked with dishes, soaps, and things to make us more comfortable. Wifi worked great, and grounds were perfect! Highly recommend!!

Great for families

The property is very nice. The “coach house” is the back of the main house over the garage. It has its own entrance and feels very private. The garage was seldom used but when it was it was pretty loud. All in all a great place to spend the weekend.

"Perfect Family Getaway with Thoughtful Hosts and Stunning Views"

Our stay at The House of Seven Gables on Wonder Lake was nothing short of perfect for our family of five. The accommodations were ideal for our three small children, and the property itself is simply stunning and unique. With a small private beach, a swing set, a fire pit, and two piers for fishing and watching the sunset, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The hosts were an absolute pleasure to deal with, maintaining constant communication and providing helpful information about local activities and dining options. You could tell they genuinely cared about making our stay perfect, even going so far as to get us a new grill grate when the one on hand got a bit rusty. My wife, kids, and I all highly recommend staying at The House of Seven Gables!

Great property — So Many Amenities

We’ve rented both properties (Coach House and House of Seven Gables ) for years and love the additional space the Coach House provides for our group. We can’t say enough about the properties and the owners, Bruce and Pam! There’s so much to do, especially for the younger kids. Love the swingset and sandbox, fishing pier, fire pit, sand toys, inner tubes, paddles boards, views of the lake… we could go on and on. Coach House is quiet, spacious, beds are comfortable, etc. Bruce and Pam are outstanding - so helpful and very responsive - before, during and after our visits!

Beautiful Location, Not much Privacy

My family and I stayed here. We have 3 little boys, they enjoyed the beach, fishing and playground. We did not realize when booking that the house was attached to the owners house. They were home and seemed to be outside every time we were. The property also shares all outside spaces with another house. We enjoyed our time, but if you are going with the thought you will be alone, be aware of that when booking.

We have earned a 4.8 star rating from our guests for 10 years and Premier Host status. Most guest are delighted by the beautiful grounds and all the amenities that we have to offer: private fishing piers, your own private firepit, access to our 2 hole putting green, swing set, private beach with use of our paddle boards, kayaks, row boat, sand toys, etc. As mentioned in your review, you enjoyed your time with your family: beach, fishing, and playground. We were surprised that you gave us a low rating based on your own misinterpretation of the property before booking. Our description clearly states in the first sentence " The Coach House is a beautiful lofted apartment attached to the owner's lake front property on Wonder Lake." Summertime on almost any lake is a fun, active time for the lakefront community: swimming, boating, neighborhood parties etc. We consider ourselves and our guest lucky to to be able to enjoy and experience the many activities and beauty of Wonder Lake and the surrounding areas.

Relaxing Few Days with Kids!

Picked this property due to its great reviews from families with kids and our boys (2 and 7) had a fantastic time. Nice little sand beach perfect for playing and swimming equipped with sand toys. We brought some of our own sand toys but wouldn’t have needed to. Boys loved the rowboat and kayaks! Nice little swing set we enjoyed, too. Made hot dogs and s’mores on the fire pit for supper (brought our own firewood). After the boys went to bed we were able to have a cocktail by the lake, our baby monitor reached far enough we didn’t have to worry about the boys. Very relaxing time!

Fantastic family getaway

We had a really great time at Bruce and Pam's place. They greeted us upon arrival and were extremely welcoming. This place is a dream if you are with kids/dogs. My kids loved playing on the mini beach and swimming in the lake. We took them out on paddle boards and kayaks which they loved as well. We even got out dog out on a paddle board. There are plenty of local shops and the one day it rained we were able to find plenty to do nearby (bowling, kids play places, etc.) Would highly recommend for a family getaway,

Lake side girls retreat!

Spent a long weekend here with a group of girl friends. Had a great time! The lake was awesome. Spent hours just floating in the water or sitting on the dock enjoying the lake life. Had everything you needed. Plenty of soaps and towels (bring your beach towels if swimming). The bath towels were fantastic -- so soft. Hosts were amazing! Good communication, friendly and flexible.

Fireworks on the Fourth!

Thanks to Pamela and Bruce - they were excellent hosts and met us for a super easy check in. My family stayed on their property over the 4th of July weekend, definitely a busy time in Wonder Lake! Parking was easy. We watched the fireworks from the shoreline at the property, which was super convenient and nice to have some private space during the busy festivities. The beach area is filled with all kinds of fun (kayaks, SUP, etc). We were also able to bring our dog, which was super nice.

It’s our second time.

Rented this property couple years ago and we liked a lot. We came back this year and had another great weekend!!! Clean, quite, plenty of room, steps to the lake( pier, sand beach, fire pit, boat, fishing …) We found everything we needed. Looking forward to come again.

Fall Getaway

This was a wonderful house and property for a long weekend fall Getaway. The hosts were very hospitable and made us feel very welcome at their comfortable and beautifully located house on the lake. The ability to have our dog with us was a great bonus, and the access to the water also a very nice feature of this house. We really enjoyed our stay!
