Fabulous view, pool and villa layout

Such a beautiful view overlooking Plage de Grand Anse! Lovely and attentive host who did not resent the use of google translate to aide in our rudimentary French conversations. Even on the rainy days you sit in the protected outdoor seating area and enjoy. Bedrooms have water views, the kitchen is well equipped, water pressure is fantastic. I'd buy this villa if it was on the market, but will resolve to be back instead.

Très belle propriété avec une vue exceptionnelle

Nous étions 2 couples et nous y avons séjourné pendant 8 jours. La maison a répondu à nos attentes et était conforme à l'annonce sur le site de VRBO. Les propriétaires ont été très gentils et ont répondu rapidement aux problèmes rencontrés, notamment, ils ont remplacé le réfrigérateur défectueux promptement. La vue est spectaculaire, la piscine est grande et les aires communes sont vastes et très agréables. Nous avons pris plusieurs repas à la maison, sur la terrasse à proximité de la piscine. La cuisine est assez bien équipée. Nous aurions cependant apprécié que le papier de toilette, les sacs de vidanges soient fournis. Les couteaux pas vraiment tranchants ont été remplacés promptement. De plus, selon nous, pour bénéficier pleinement des nombreuses plages avoisinantes, des chaises de plage devraient être offertes, compte tenu du fait que les locataires arrivent par avion ! Le prix de location assez élevé devrait permettre ces achats.

Fabulous View and Pool

Loved the outdoor area. Amazing view and the best pool ever. I swam everyday, sometimes two times. Well equipped kitchen. Loved the chickens who laid eggs in the garden.

Great house - quiet location with a gorgeous view

Lovely hilltop house with stunning views. All bedrooms have direct access to outdoor terrace and the main living space opens to the outdoors via a large roll up door. Comfortable furniture both inside and out. Owner Christiane was attentive and kind. We wish that the kitchen was a bit better equipped and could use some sharp knives, large serving bowls, etc. but that did not stop us from making great meals as the oven, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator / freezer, and other appliances worked well and all were conveniently located. We needed to purchase our own toilet paper, paper towel, and garbage bags which was a surprise, but a quick trip to the store solved that issue. There were plenty of towels which was very much appreciated, and an easy to use washing machine adjacent to the pool. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this property.

Warm and Beautiful

This was our family's second stay at this home and it was more beautiful than we remembered. Christiane is so warm and welcoming and we love this house. It's one of the best views on the entire island and the pool and furnishings are perfect. The kitchen has been recently redone and is beautiful. All perfect. Hope to visit again soon!

Most beautiful view in the world

Wonderful, spotlessly clean, well managed in a most magnificent spot. Christiane the owner is most attentive and communicative, very helpful. The only drawback are the lamps by the beds. If you like to read those are not the best options, but apart from that everything was lovely

Paradise, again!

Beautiful view from the spacious covered patio and endless pool. Peaceful and private setting, but close to town and beaches. Very accommodating, pleasant hosts with welcoming fruit basket and juices to get you started on yet another restful sojourn.

Excellent séjour !

La piscine à débordement est grande et la vue à couper le souffle ! La terrasse est le lieu de vie de la maison et très bien agencée. Mais l'aspect le plus mémorable de notre séjour est la gentillesse et la disponibilité de la propriétaire ! Encore merci pour les services rendus durant et après notre séjour ! A ne pas manquer : un dîner à Deshayes au restaurant "La kaz du douanier" et un repas sur le pouce chez Joe (vente de burgers à emporter au rond-point près du parking de la plage de Grande-Anse... avec une mention spéciale au burger "Ti créole") ! Pour les visites, nous recommandons la visite de l'habitation Vanibel près de Vieux-Habitants et pour la plage, nous recommandons celle de Cluny Ouest. Pour résumer... un excellent séjour en Basse-Terre !!!

Magnificent escape

We enjoyed each day in this villa and its surroundings. Paradise Found

This is our 3rd year staying in Christiane's wonderful house. Next year will be our fourth and we can't wait. The area is peaceful and suits our needs perfectly. Nothing is right there, but nothing is too far away either.

Wonderful property

Would recommend this property: beautiful view, secluded and not overlooked, sunny pool and shady terrace. All the facilities needed and nicely laid out. Friendly and helpful proprietor who went out of her way to assist when our bags didn’t arrive! You need a car for the steep climb up from town but it’s so worth it.

Paradise

We stayed at the property with our four children and it was amazing. They swam for hours while we relaxed and enjoyed the amazing view. Great location, close to town and many beautiful beaches. The hostess was so gracious and our kids adored her. Hope to return again some day!

Quiétude et Panorama

Nous avons passé une semaine magnifique à caféière, la villa est vraiment très agréable, confortable et en tous points conforme au descriptif. La vue est exceptionnelle avec des couchés de soleil magnifiques. La situation de la villa sur les hauteurs de Deshaies, assure le calme et la tranquillité, les nuits y sont plus tempérée, nous n'avons donc pas eu besoin d'utiliser la climatisation. Point important, nous n'avons pas vu un seul moustique de la semaine. Que dire sur nos hôtes, si ce n'est que plus de gentillesse et d'attention ne doit pas être possible. Ils sont au petits soins pour leurs locataires, poulet grillé et gratin de patate douce nous attendaient a l'arrivée, sans oublier le punch planteur dans le frigo... Un grand merci a Christiane et bon courage pour le carnaval 2020

There is only one problem with this location. It's so nice, I can't get my wife to leave! Really. Christiane is a very thoughtful and friendly hostess with a property that is actually better in real life than it is on your screen. You are close to Deshaies with many nice places to eat, not far from pristine beaches, and close to Super U or SPAR for your grocery needs. You will need a car to get around. Public transit might be good, but this property would require a bit of a hike to reach a bus stop. You will be on Basse Terre which is extremely hilly with a large portion devoted to national park lands. If you are looking for shopping and lots of things to keep you busy, you might prefer Grand Terre, the other island. If you want to get away and are happy to spend time reading, catching up on sleep, or spending lots of time at a beach, Basse Terre is probably more your speed.

Super séjour en famille

Amazing view and delightful pool in tropical Guadeloupe

We had a delightful stay here in March 2018. The weather was warm and tropical and we spent most of our time around the beautiful pool, cooking meals in the well-appointed kitchen and exploring the area. The view from the pool and patio area really is staggering - Grand Anse beach in the daytime and stars at night. On arrival the hosts were kind enough to pick up a few essential groceries since our flight arrived around 9:30 pm after all the stores were closed. We visited several local beaches, which were very nice. We used TripAdvisor to find restaurants and were overall not satisfied with the value of eating out - if we return we will do more of our own cooking. There is a nice bakery in the center of Deshaies which had good bread and pastry. The beds were fairly comfortable, although no blankets are provided - generally not needed as long as air conditioning is set at an appropriate temp. One of the prior reviews mentioned sleeping with the doors open, but our hosts instructed us to keep the doors closed to keep out rodents and make sure the house is secure. The island is generally considered safe, but you probably want to leave any valuable jewelry at home and exercise some common sense precautions when exploring the island. This is island living, meaning be prepared for the night noises of dogs barking and roosters crowing (sometimes starting at 3 am). Earplugs could be handy if you are a light sleeper - especially if you are not using the air conditioning which helps mask outside noises. We had one French speaker in our party of four, which was a great help as English is limited on the island.

Beautiful property with spectacular views

We loved this home. My wife and I spent a week here with our three children (ages 10, 7 and 6). The house was great - very open and had everything we needed. The view was (more than) a million dollar vista. Our host, Christiane, was lovely, even cooking a creole dish for us as a welcome. Although she had little English and us limited French, we were able to communicate well. Hope to visit again!

We didn't want to leave!!

Christiane was very gracious and happy to help in any way possible while being totally unobtrusive. This villa offers everything we could have wished for including seclusion from the outside world despite having close neighbors. The house is laid out in a way that allows you to leave everything wide open even if there's a downpour. You are part of the outdoors even when you're indoors. The property is even nicer than the listing photos show it to be. Get ready for company; a lizard here and there, birds flying in to see if you've left anything out that they can take, and a local rooster or two. We are looking forward to returning next year!

The house is perfectly situated in the hills above Deshaies, with a spectacular view of Grande Anse.

Certainly the highlight of the property is outdoor terrace with pool and lots of seating, looking west towards Grande Anse beach. The house has a good sized, well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies . We cooked meals for 6 of us each day. The owner, Christiane, was lovely and helped us with dinner reservations and tips for driving. We enjoyed sunsets by the pool each night. The house is very convenient to shops and restaurants in Deshaies, as well as two great beaches within 5 minutes of the house. Highly recommended for a quiet stay on Basse Terre. Definitely brush up on French before you come. English is limited on the island.

Perfect place with stunning view!

We had an excellent stay in this beatiful house. The view is stunning, all day long but especially in the evening when you have a beatiful sunset. Every day a different one. The swimmingpool and the terrace are perfectly located, with shadow and sun all day long. The bedrooms are perfect too, you can sleep with the doors open, because every room has a mosguito net, but if you think it's to warm there are two aircondtioned rooms also. And then the beaches, they are nearby, very quiet, clean and beatiful, the best we have seen in Guadeloupe.

Amazing view, beautiful pool and lovely hosts

The position is very private and the view completely amazing! There could not be a better place from which to watch the sun set over the Caribbean! The owners live in a house further down the road but are available if you need them. The house and furnishings are not new and some things could do with updating (mosquito nets on the bedroom windows would be good - although there are nets over the beds) but all are perfectly functional and are more than compensated for by the fabulous setting, beautiful pool and the new outdoor seating arrangement. After all - you tend to spend all your time outside on that glorious terrace! For 'Death in Paradise' fans this house was used in one of the series (the one with the nuns and the holy water). Thank you very much for the lovely stay and for being so kind when I lost a key!!!! We really hope to return!
