Cleaners did not show until after check in. Check in was at 4pm and check out at 10am. Felt a bit rushed. Maybe check in at 3pm and check out at 11am? Cleaning crews probably the issue with check in and out times. WiFi was in and out. No extra blankets although baseboard heat and fireplace worked well. No extra trash bag. Paper towels and toilet paper were of the lowest quality possible. Otherwise, great little cabin with lake access and convenient location. Enjoyed our stay, overall.

What a great little cabin! It is perfectly located on the main road between 2 little towns, with lots of restaurant/bar options nearby. Since it is right on the banks of the lake, it would be perfect in the summer but we were there in winter and got the first snow! It was beautiful!! The gas fireplace made the whole house cozy and the hot tub was so nice in the snow! Bring your own spices and cooking condiments because there's none in the kitchen, though there are plenty of pots, pans, dishes etc. Highly recommend Garrett County dog park that's about 8 minutes away for your pups to run off leash! And don't miss the Honi Honi bar!!

Great cabin!

Our family had a wonderful time! Great spot, easy check in and out. Only downside is how close you are to the highway, there is some road noise.

Beautiful View

The cabin was great and sits on a very nice piece of property with a beautiful view. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and are very thankful that our dog was able to join us. We really appreciate the dog friendly accommodations and have enjoyed coming back to DCL year after year. Future travelers may benefit from knowing that the property sits fairly close to 219 therefore noise from traffic/trucks is not uncommon. The traffic was not a huge issue for us and we look forward to possibly returning again in the future.

What a Great Cabin!

My family and I stayed at Tolson Cabin for my birthday week. We absolutely loved the cabin and the location. The photos do not do it justice as the cabin is even cuter than the photos reveal. The property was wonderful and we enjoyed every minute of our time there. The dock was perfect for our boat and I even took a little swim in the lake which has a nice sandy beach.

A nice getaway

Awesome location right by the lake! Private beach was great! Minor issue is that property is semi close to a busy road. Some maintenance issues with the property were addressed after our stay. Good communication.

Great cabin in the woods

Overall a great experience, beautiful cabin feel right in the lake! Our doggos loved the private beach and yard! Great vacation spot!

wonderful level lakefront lot but definitely needs some repairs

Great location! The large yard with a level lake area couldn't be beat. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock and swimming in the lake. The house was very nicely decorated with very comfortable beds and linens. There is no AC which is probably only an issue a few weeks out of the year or if there is a hard rain. We needed to close the windows when it rained because the floors and some of the electronics set in the one bedroom window were getting wet. The cabin is very rustic which adds to the charm but could be an issue if you are squeamish about critters. I don't feel the pictures are accurate in terms of the condition of the building. The screened in porch and outside stairs definitely need some repairs. The wood is rotting in a lot of places and seems unstable in some areas. There is a large gap around the door leading outside in the kitchen. We noticed mice droppings in the bedrooms, living room, kitchen and dining room. When we contacted the rental agency we were told it was not their issue to fix and asked what we wanted them to do. At our request they dropped off peanut butter and a broom and dustpan so we could set the mouse baits and clean up the droppings. If you are most concerned about location and outdoor space this place is great. If you prefer something less rustic without bugs, mice, decaying wood would consider renting something else.

Porch caved in

The most terrifying part of our trip was that the porch caved about 6 inches while we were enjoying dinner on the porch. The maintenance guy told us that the owners had a work order to fix the porch but they rented to us otherwise!!! The main beam supporting the porch had failed and this is something the owners of the property were aware of prior to renting to us. Not only we’re we put in an incredibly dangerous situation we were unable to use the porch safely during our stay. The claw foot tub does not have a working plug so I was unable to bathe my child as advertised in the listing. One of the bedroom doors fell off the hinge. The walls are basically plywood. The back steps were incredibly slippery. We all slipped at least once trying to get into our cabin. A few of us have severe bruising from slipping. We were charged a full Memorial Day weekend rate despite everything in deep creek being closed. The reason we rented this cabin was for its proximity to local restaurants. The rental agency, railey realty, has yet to respond to my complaint.

Beautiful Cabin

My husband and I had an excellent stay at Tolson Cabin. This rustic Cabin is adorable and the furnishings met our needs perfectly. The fireplace is beautiful. Everything was perfect except the shower curtain in the bathroom. I agree with other reviewers in that this issue needs to be fixed. Also, maybe door latches can be installed on the bedrooms since the doors won't stay shut on their own. Otherwise we loved our stay and we look forward to coming back.

A Pleasant Surprise

Tolson Cabin was a great fit for my fiance and I, and another couple. I was skeptical about this house, because there weren't a lot of pictures posted on the website when I booked. The house was perfect minus the bathroom. I had to give 4 stars instead of 5 because of the clawfoot tub. The shower curtain was almost impossible to keep closed, and when you did get it closed, it managed to stick to every inch of your skin. The tub goes with the rustic feel of the log cabin house, but it was not functional. An installed shower stall would make a huge difference. Another recommendation would be to put a screen door on the door from the house to the screened in porch. There is a wonderful breeze that comes off of the lake, and its a shame you don't get to enjoy that. The yard is huge! What a pleasant surprise. We were concerned about having space to park the trailers for the boats, but there was plenty of room. The dock was perfect for two bass boats. You are on part of the busy section of the lake. It seemed to get a lot of boat traffic to UNOs and the Honi Honi. It did not stop us from floating in rafts and playing in the water though. The beach, and two beach chairs were so nice to have. The yard is private, although very close to the main highway (you do get some road noise), it is down a wooded, gravel driveway. UNOs pizzeria, the Honi Honi and Arrowhead market are all within walking distance, as is Ace's Run restaurant. Overall, such a wonderful place to stay. I would highly recommend it, and would definitely stay there again.
