First Time Beachwalkers

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We very much enjoyed our stay and the resort area. The amenities were wonderful and we were pleasantly surprised with the lake, as we were looking for a closer drive from our usual vacation destinations. We will definitely be back! For future consideration: adding and or replacing some kitchen utensils, and a few of the bathroom fixtures were loose (master bath hand towel)

Awesome Beachwalk Resort our house was a little Outdated

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great seven day stay at Beachwalk Resort. The resort itself was great. All the different color, homes and cottages were adorable to walk by on your way to the beach or to the amenities provided. We stayed in a house called Kastaways. It was a little outdated, and the outdoor furniture had a broken seat. The house itself was nice, however, it needs a new washer dryer, and the lower toilet didn’t flush well. They also didn’t provide much silverware or mugs for morning coffee. We didn’t even use the back porch because it was small and overgrown with weeds. We walked to the beach daily, which was about a quarter mile walk. We did paddle boarding, pedal, boating, kayaking, tennis, the pool and ping-pong at the resort.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kastaways is in a great community which has a lot of amenities to offer and wonderful proximity to the beach. The size of the home was perfect for our group. Overall, it was a good experience however, for the amount we paid there were a few things that we expected to be in better attention to detail by the cleaning crew. 1) Dust and cobwebs 2) Dusty fans - the ceiling fans have not been cleaned months - we had to clean each of them before turning them on. Everything else was clean - but for the amount we paid for the week - I would expect this to be taken care of before we arrived. The carpet wasn't in the best of shape - maybe needed a good cleaning.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a blast at Beachwalk Rentals! Swimming, play grounds, close to stores and Food. We went to the zoo, within a mile for $10 per person. Drove to Laje Michigan (less than a mile) and the kids had a blast playing in the sand and looking for shells. Can’t say enough about the staff and how helpful and caring they were. Thank you for this experience! We will be back in 2025.

The location was convenient for visiting both the Indiana State and National Dunes parks. We enjoyed our stay and felt safe & comfortable..Suggestions: new fridge, trim vines back from the back deck, and let guests know that the door handle has to be held just right to open the front door.

Some of the wooden tables could use updating, but overall it was cozy. Only complaint is the refrigerator ice maker wasn’t working properly and makes a constant noise. There is also a water noise from one of the toilets even though they came immediately to fix it. The amenities connected to to Beachwalk makes it fun for families and the location to Lake Michigan makes it perfect.

A Comfort & Cozy Beach Cottage

Reviewer Comments: We rented Kastaways for 4 days for our son’s wedding in Michigan City, Indiana. It was everything that the pictures showed it to be. It was cozy, comforting & rustic looking. There were enough towels (no need to bring your own). Our Keurig didn’t work & the staff had it replaced within a couple of hours. The staff was very helpful & extremely professional. Highly recommended!!

Great Week with Family and Friends

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at Beachwalk as always! This is our 4th time visiting, and first time in Kastaways. It definitely could use some TLC and updates, but it was great for us and the kids. There were only broken beach chairs, but the office was able to give us one which helped. It had pretty much everything we needed in the kitchen and to do laundry - although we did find it helpful to bring a bunch of our own towels (beach and bath) b/c there is only one towel per guest and no beach towels. There was also no golf cart included in the rental (first time we've had that at BW) and we had to rent one from an outside company which was a bit of a hassle, but it worked out. Beachwalk has done some really nice improvements throughout and we always enjoy our time here. If you are looking for a casual, not super fancy house, that will meet your basic needs - this is it! We had our family of four, and then a few friends w/kids stay for a few days as well.

Fun Weekend with Friends

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Michigan City is a fun getaway place if you live in Indy. Just a short two and a half hour drive to beautiful Lake Michigan. Beachwalk is adorable little neighborhood, kid friendly or relaxing if no kids. The cutest zoo ever is just down the street. Landed butcher shop is a step back in time and has the best meat anywhere. Kastaway was perfect for what we needed. Good size bedrooms and plenty of communal space. The only negative was parking. But a little walk never hurts anyone. And the carpet is getting a bit worn out. All in all, a perfect weekend.

Our golf cart was "borrowed" one day and the Beachwalk staff went above and beyond to return it to us asap. We had a wonderful week. We will be back!

Great family vacation site.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had all the family with us including 3 grandchildren . There was lots to do for the kids, including a large playground very near us, the fishing pier on lake Kai and the ice cream shop. They all caught fish. The golf cart helped getting us all to the edge of the resort so we could go to the beach. Kastaways was large enough for all of us and adequately equipped except it lacks some essential pans for cooking. It was not especially clean. The carpeting up the stairs and on the second floor was badly in need of cleaning and the tile floors had been swept but were not mopped. There was an ant problem on the first floor probably because the floors were not being mopped. The kitchen floor was very sticky when we arrived. Overall it was an ok experience.

A great home away from home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fantastic stay at Kastaways! The house was in a great location and perfect for our family. It was close the playground and in walking distance of the pool and coffee shop. It was also in decent walking distance of Lake Michigan; however, we took our bikes and that made it easy. Had we had more "beach stuff", we would have needed a golf cart for that, but it was easy to haul a couple of bags on our bikes.The home had everything we needed -- plenty of linens, nice furniture, comfortable beds. We were happy to find games and movies for adults and kids. The carpet was weathered and dark in spots, but that's to be expected at a beach house. The kitchen was also well-equipped with pots and pans and utensils, as well as extras like a blender and coffee grinder. Our only suggestions for the kitchen is to have more drinking glasses. There are plenty of wine glasses and coffee mugs, but only a few normal drinking glasses (and one was chipped on the rim).We would definitely recommend Kastaways to family and friends. We may even stay there again, if not for all the other cute Beachwalk houses that we'd like to try out too!
