Magical stay in Chilmark

We spent one magical week here and didn’t want to leave. The setting was beautiful. The porch and grill area were perfect. And the beach was stupendous. Check in could not be easier. Great stay and great hosts. Thank you so much!

Wonderful house!

The peaceful, pastoral setting of this house was perfect for our little family. We were two adult couples, mom and dad and daughter and son-in-law. There was plenty of space for at least four more, but it did give us plenty of room to spread out when we wanted to. All rooms are well-appointed and well-stocked. The kitchen area was amazing. Lots of space, great equipment, and a great wrap-around deck with a gas grill that works very well! The outdoor shower was my personal favorite spot. Plenty of hot water and a gorgeous tree-covered setting. There is a separate guest house if anyone in the group needs more privacy. We didn’t really use it except for some business calls and zooms that the rest of the group didn’t have to hear. Owners were very responsive to questions. We will definitely consider this spot when returning to the Vineyard. It’s a bit of a drive to Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, but we liked being away from the crowds. If you have a vehicle, it’s a wonderful getaway. A short walk to Lucy Vincent Beach and the Xhilmark General Store and Tavern. Absolutely loved it!

Perfect location

Located between Lucy Vincent Beach and the Chilmark Community Center, the house provided easy access to our favorite spots on the Vineyard. It's a beautiful property and the owners are easy to reach with any questions.

Spring Break Escape to Chilmark

Once again, Megan has been an awesome host and her house is just so gorgeous. This time we used the grill for almost every dinner at home, and it was very fun and delicious. Seafood from the island purveyors, including ample grilled oysters, and vegetables from the farm markets. Every day we took walks on beaches and paths to explore, including the nearby Fulling Mill Brook which was so interesting! The host immediately took care of any requests we had and took our calls and made any changes necessary. This was a great stay and we cannot recommend this house, and Megan, enough!

Warm, comfy house, great location!

Megan and Phil's place is a great winter get-away with 2 gas fireplaces - one in the kitchen area and one in the living room, both where you spend most of the time not in bed! These are high- end fireplaces, more like wood stoves with visible flames - very charming, and very warm and cozy! Then venture outside for a walk on one of the Vineyards best beaches, or find trails in the Menemsha Hills and finish off with the most amazing lobster bisque at Menemsha Fish Market. Take home some fish for dinner! Don’t forget the Scottish Bakery in the next town up! Our second time this season there, hope to return!

Chill Out in Chilmark--Stunning Beach on MV!

Comfy and roomy, welcoming, tastefully decorated and well-provisioned house with a great yard and deck. The hosts made us feel very welcome and were helpful, and kind, every step of the way. Chilmark is one of the most mysterious and cool parts of the island, where rolling Scottish-looking farms and woods border the picturesque Lucy Vincent Beach! Our family knows the island well and we explore all the walking paths and beaches we can. We loved the living room, the roomy useful loft upstairs, the two master-sized bedrooms downstairs, the views onto the farmland and the neighbors--horses! The kitchen is for serious cooks and bakers, we did not fear to tackle recipes because everything was provided. The kids appreciated the ample games and puzzles. The Beach can be reached by a 4 minute drive or by walking, and it has both the south / Atlantic side surf and the gorgeous red clay cliffs that lead up to Aquinnah. At the house, flocks of winter bluebirds came by along with a real mix of backyard birds. Deer, geese and wild turkeys roamed the hills we could see from the house windows. Menemsha is a short ride away so our local store provided chowder, bisque, stuffed quahogs, bluefish, oysters on the half shell, and flaky sole). We celebrated Christmas and the New Year together as a family, avoiding the crowds of summer and enjoying the mild maritime winter of the Vineyard. We did takeout sandwiches from Black Dog and took them on the short ferry ride to Chappaquiddick, which has opened new trails to the ocean and salt marsh ponds that make you feel like you are at the end of the Earth (with a view over to Nantucket).

Fantastic property and location

Hi Megan - What a great time we had at your property! The location, the horses, the cozy fireplaces - very special! Also, you should be a designer if you aren’t already. Honestly, we kept remarking on the fixtures, furnishings, fabrics and kitchen gear - such high quality and such good taste! You have put a lot of attention into all that and it really makes a difference - we have stayed in many homes and yours beats them all. There was a close second in Sonoma County CA wine region hills and we were surprised yours beat that one out! You were so responsive to us throughout I hope you are listed as a super host since you are that! Jack and Karen

Always what a vacation should be

Comfortable, peaceful, perfect accommodations for us, family fun and adventures, great food. Love the ability to talk a walk on the beach whenever we want, and a perfect yard to play games. We continue to come back every year and look forward to next year.

Magical Chilmark

From the moment that I dealt with Meg and Phil, I knew this was going to be a special experience. They helped arrange ferries (which can be tricky in August) and left walking passes to our favorite beach: Lucy Vincent. Meg helped with the sticker office as well. The home was clearly loved. Horses came right up to the fence as we had our morning coffee. The fairy lights under the big oak tree behind the house made for a lovely sitting area for entertaining. You could picture having a wedding in the back yard. Farm house feel. The light is magical. A lovely air conditioned guest house is cozy and great for guests or teenagers, though next time my husband and I will likely steal the cottage for ourselves. Lots of beach gear and a well stocked kitchen. Can’t speak highly enough of this property. It has a feeling of Vermont on the Vineyard. Such a great location not far from the Chilmark Store.

Perfect in every way

Perfect size and location for a large family. So close to LV beach and Chilmark town center. The house has everything you could ever need. Relaxing and a lovely setting. Best side of the island by far!

Home away from home

Wonderful property , cozy cottage feel but sleeps 8 ! Next door gorgeous pasture with beautiful horses greeting i. the morning. Wonderful porch for family lunch/dinner. Fabulous house, close to beach, general store, library, community center...couldn’t ask for more!

3rd time , and will continue, great place to be on the Vineyard

We have been coming to the Vineyard for 23 years, and this is the best place for us. There is room for our kids, grandchildren and/or friends if they come with us. This time it was only my husband and I so it was peaceful. We can enjoy our daily walks, either on trails or at the beach, eat out or at home, and relax in the yard. It's a distance from the larger towns, but thats a draw for us. Megan is very attentive to everyones needs, which makes it an even better vacation.

We live year round in New Hampshire and have been vacationing on the island for many years with our family and friends. We made a decision to buy our own home in 2011 and began looking in earnest at that time. We saw a number of possibilities but never one that we both fell in love with right away.

In the spring of 2014 our realtor contacted us and said, "how many times have I said that you must come and check out this property RIGHT AWAY?" I paused and thought about his question briefly , and then responded- "Never". Being a Friday afternoon, we packed a bag and headed to the vineyard . We got to the property a little before our appointment on Saturday and sat on deck enjoying the view and both knew that this is what we had been waiting to see! By the time of our scheduled meeting, we realized we had found our new home.


Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Location is amazing. Chilmark is rural, and our home clearly feels that way. But to be within a ten minute walk to a fabulous beach, and the community center, which has awesome entertainment, films, speakers, tennis, yoga classes etc...... Additionally if we don't feel like getting in a car-we don't because we live right on a bus route which circles the entire island.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The views looking over pastureland of the farm abutting our land are protected in conservation easement, which assured us that it will always retain that look. The occasional visits to the split rail fence from the horses who board there, is just another charming bonus.

We look forward to hearing how you enjoy our special location!
