Cabaña única del siglo XVIII cerca de Loch Lomond y Trossachs

Lilybank está lleno de carácter. Es una casa de campo de 2 dormitorios y 2 baños construida en 1781 (una de las más antiguas del pueblo). La cabaña está situada en el pintoresco pueblo de Killearn, en las estribaciones de Campsie Fell, un lugar para numerosas producciones de películas.
Esta área también se usó para varias configuraciones de ubicación en la exitosa serie: "Outlander". Estamos a 10 minutos de la ubicación de la película: púlpito del diablo.
La cabaña -Hay 2 dormitorios, ambos con baño con ducha / baños (uno arriba con cama doble y otro abajo con 2 camas individuales que se pueden cambiar a una cama doble si es necesario)
La cocina está bien equipada con ingredientes y utensilios de cocina. Hay un gran frigorífico-congelador y una cocina de rango everhot, con unidades de roble empotradas y encimeras de granito. El salón tiene una estufa de carbón muy cálida.
En la parte trasera de la cabaña hay un invernadero que da a una gran área de terraza y un jardín de dos niveles, con área de césped, estacionamiento para varios autos, barbacoa y cubierta para bicicletas.

El área -Killearn está cerca de Trossachs, Loch Lomond, West Highland Way y muchos otros puntos de interés conocidos. Las ciudades históricas de Stirling, Perth y Edimburgo están a poca distancia en coche.

El pueblo en sí tiene una tienda Coop, un excelente pub y restaurante. Hay muchos otros establecimientos a poca distancia o en coche. La destilería Glengoyne se encuentra a poca distancia y los recorridos ofrecen un excelente día.

WiFi- La cabaña tiene una buena señal wifi.

Golf: los campos cercanos se encuentran en Balfron y Drymen. El campo antiguo de Saint Andrews y el sendero Fife links están a 1 hora y 30 minutos en coche. Hay muchos campos de golf de clase mundial que se encuentran aquí.

Ciclismo: hay muchas pistas para bicicletas ubicadas localmente y en el cercano Queen Elizabeth Forrest. Se pueden alquilar bicicletas en Drymen.

Caminar y escalar: Killearn está a unos 30 minutos en coche de Ben Lomond, el Munro más al sur. También hay una serie de Munros a poca distancia hacia el norte a lo largo de las orillas del lago Lomond. Hay varias rutas de senderismo alrededor del pueblo y en lo alto de los campamentos que dan al pueblo.

Pesca: con permiso en el río Endrick y el lago de Menteith, Loch Lomond.

Tiendas en el pueblo: quirófano químico / médico, salones de té, delicatessen Hewitt y Aker, galería Panik, bar y restaurante Old Mill Inn.

Transporte: enlace de autobús cada hora a Glasgow, Stirling.

Comida / entrega a domicilio: chino Saffron Tandoori y Balfron situado en Balfron, a 5 minutos en coche o en un servicio de entrega a domicilio. También hay una buena tienda de chips en Balfron.

Las islas: el ferry Arran en Ardrossan se encuentra a 1 hora en coche de Killearn. La travesía en ferry dura 1 hora. También se puede acceder a la isla a través del ferry Clonaig en la costa oeste. Este es un paseo panorámico encantador.
Hay muchos otros que se pueden visitar fácilmente en un día desde Greenock / Gourock, a 45 minutos en coche de killearn.

Destilerías de whisky- Glengoyne está a menos de una milla de Killearn. Hay un hermoso paseo por los bosques y las colinas para llegar allí.
Auchentoshan está a unos 10 kilómetros de distancia. Ambos ofrecen excelentes recorridos.

Excelente alojamiento

El alojamiento tiene una ubicación excelente para explorar la zona de los Trossachs Stirling, etc... La casa es cómoda, tiene mucho encanto, y está decorada con mucho gusto. Los dueños son extremadamente amables, y ponen todo su empeño en que los huéspedes se sientan como en su casa, proporcionando información exhaustiva tanto de la casa como de la zona. En definitiva, una opción muy recomendable si visitas esta parte de Escocia.

We had a great stay at Caroline and Ken’s place. It’s a lovely typically Scottisch house. Inside and out. Warm and with eye for detail. It’s noticible that it it’s owners take care of it with love. If you like to walk, cicle or have interest in history, there’s enough information about the surroundings. It only takes a 15 minutes to half an hour drive te climb your first Mountain in the Highlands or visit the city of Glasgow. If you stay in the Coop is around the corner, and there’s always the pub. Thanks Caroline and Ken, for having us!

This lovely cottage is warm and welcoming, and we, a family of four, have spent a wonderful time here. The kitchen, especially the Everhot, is simply a fantastic place for enjoying family dinners in a very cosy setting. The living room is just as you would expect—cosy and full of comfortable furniture.A highlight of the master bedroom is the soft Tempur mattress, which makes every night a dream. The landlord, Ken, was always available for any questions that came up—fantastic support.If you're looking for a truly traditional cottage in the beautiful area of Killean, you should definitely consider this one.

Practicality problems

Dishwasher is a must. Cleanliness of cooking equipment lacking (no dishwasher, eco products?). Limited surfaces for food preparation or computer/printer connection. Beautiful bathroom upstairs, but sink has no mixer tap nor plug, and wet shaving is a trial given the mirror situation. Sleep quality affected by too small bed size.Unfortunately not the property for us.

Great cottage in a super location

We loved our 3 week stay at this delightful cottage. It was extremely comfortable, with a well equiped kitchen to self cater and a super co-op just minutes walk away. The large smart TV was also a bonus as we were there during Wimbledom and the start of the Olympics.We loved the village and all the wonderful walks that were available to us right from the front door. Killearn is also extremely well located to so many attractions making it easy to venture out on half day or day trips. Ken was a super host, very responsive and very helpful which made the whole experience even more memorable. Thank you so much.

Wonderful time north of the border

Lovely stay in a quaint and comfortable cottage. Loved the kitchen and cooking on the range. Absolutely loved the tv and surround sound system. The village pub was brilliant. Very friendly and very busy but the food was wonderful. An excellent week.

All the comforts of home. Kitchen is beyond fully stocked. Quaint patio with beautiful landscape. Super clean. Best part is 3 minute walk to Co-Op for anything you might need. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt in einem altem hübschen Haus. Das Haus ist sehr individuell und liebevoll gestaltet. Es gibt sehr viel zu gucken, was es allerdings auch etwas eng macht. Der Everhotoven ist gewöhnungsbedürftig.Die Umgebung bietet viele Möglichkeiten, Natur und Städte. Ein sehr schöner Urlaub.

Cozy retreat

We had a lovely time at Ken's and Caroline's small cottage. It was our honeymoon and Ken was kind enough to postpone our stay due to booking difficulties on our part. The Cottage is located in a nice scottish village that has a great restaurant and is all around quite lovely. The cottage itself is very cozy and is well equipped for guest. Especially the kitchen has massive amounts of kitchen ware with which to cook, although the stove is rather unusual (because it's always on). Works well enough though. Also there were a good amounts of cooking ingredients already there which made cooking for only a few days a lot easier and cheaper cause we didn't have to get things like Salt or Pepper in larger amounts. There was fast Wifi and a well equipped TV, a fireplace with wood supplied. Communication was great as well. Instructions always understandable and always fast replies. Two smaller complaints though: the cottage in general is rather dark, even when it's sunny outside. Nothing major and nothing that could be done about it, just a small thing that we per se didn't like as much. Secondly it was always somewhat colder in the cottage because the heat had to be turned on manually and took a while to get warm. So whenever we went out or during the night it cooled considerably. Again nothing major but irked us a bit. Overall a great little place in a very cute but still feeling modern little village.

Characterful home in an ideal location for touring…

Characterful and quirky, Ken and Caroline’s home is a cozy base for either setting out for a day of adventure or taking the many wonderful hikes right from their front door, or sitting by the fire as you listen to the rain. The bed is very comfortable and the showers are good. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean. Killearn was an ideal location, with the Co-op just minutes from the house and three choices for coffee or a meal a short walk away.. The people were welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful stay!

Cozy cottage, well-situated and well-equipped in a good location

Cottage is exactly as pictured, very characterful. Makes you feel like you're very much in Scotland - big plus when you're visiting the region as a tourist. The house is well-equipped, with everything you'd need for cooking, washing, a big TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, good WiFi. One thing it doesn't have is a dishwasher. And a thing you might need to get used to, is the Everhot oven, which is exactly that: always hot, no knobs to turn or dials to read. But we found it convenient, popping in the bread for a few minutes in the morning and getting great results with oven-prepared offerings from M&S. When you're done eating, sorting the waste can be a bit of a chore. It's nothing the owners can help or do about, but you have to sort all waste into five different bins. Luckily, the owners detail what waste goes into which bin in the provided manual - and apart from the manual there are a lot of labels and signs around the house with pointers/instructions for various things. The village of Killearn was a lovely surprise. It might not seem like much on the map, but it has plenty to offer. The Co-op supermarket just 50 meters down the road, is small but has pretty much everything you need and is open all day until late, even on Sundays. Then there's the The Old Mill pub/restaurant, a 5-minute walk, with good food and drinks. The Kitchen Window on the other side of the road for a coffee and some lunch. For the kids, there's a big playground/park practically around the corner. Around Killearn, there's a lot to explore. Loch Lomond is close by, cities like Stirling and Glasgow are half-hour drives. In between are castles and distilleries, little villages with great charm. All in all, if you're planning a vacation to Scotland, Lilybank is a perfect base.

Beautiful Cottage and absolutely wonderful hosts!!!

Lilybank was a wonderful place to stay. The cottage was exactly as stated. Ken could not have been anymore helpful with us! He was extremely responsive! The Everhot was a bit intimidating but worked like a charm. The back porch was a great place to wrap up a long day of activities. We had a great time talking, listening to music and enjoying the privacy. I would absolutely recommend Lilybank to anyone. My only advice would be to bring a top sheet for the bedding. This was my first time to the UK and was unaware top sheets are not customary. Overall 5 star!!!

Lilybank was a unique and charming home! Our host was quick to respond about any inquiries that we had. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The Everhot cooking surface was easy to use and superb to cook on. Every room was lovely and the living room so enjoyable to just relax in. Wonderful cottage

We had a fantastic time staying at Ken and Caroline’s cottage. We walked around the small village, played basketball at the park and went on day trips to Stirling, Balloch/Loch Lomond and to Time Capsule water park for the kids. We loved our week. Thank you for everything!

Amazing cottage!

I was really impressed by the cleanliness and the aesthetic of the cottage - it was so beautiful! Lilybank also had lovely pubs near that my family and I really enjoyed as well as brilliant things to do on a days out nearby.

Holiday Scotland 2021

Excellent cottage very cosy and wonderful kitchen, so homely. Great location and our highlights were kayaking loch lomond, Ben Nevis, Stirling Castle and Wallace Monument. Plus the Old Mill and Clachan at Drymen. Fantastic host always available. Great holiday. Chris and Chrissie.

The house itself is uniquely, full of centuries of character.
