Great Stay in Gruene

We needed an extended stay while our house was being finished and this house was great for our family. The beds are comfortable, it is well-equipped for cooking, and the back yard and pool are a great place to unwind. Being able to walk to Grune Hall is a bonus!

Great House in Gruene

We felt right at home here. The house is cute, well appointed, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The back yard has a beautiful pool, mature trees for shade, and outdoor living/cooking. The house is within walking distance of everything in Gruene. The neighborhood was safe and pretty. You can hear live music from the nearby restaurants/bars/Gruene Hall, but it is not too loud and doesn't go late. We enjoyed hanging out in the back yard and listening to the local artists. The hosts are very friendly and easy to communicate with. We'd stay here again.

Adorable house in Gruene

This is our second stay at the Gruene House. We cannot say enough great things about the location and the owners! The house sits within a quaint little neighborhood and less than a five-minute walk to all that Gruene has to offer (Gruene Hall, Gruene Grove, cute boutiques and great restaurants). If you don’t feel like walking into town, you can just hang in the gorgeous back yard and listen to the low hum of the music (nothing intrusive). Jim and Montie are proactive to see how your check in went and very responsive, if you have any questions during your stay. They have thought of everything to make sure your stay is comfortable - fully stocked kitchen, soft/fluffy towels, extra bedding and enough seating for everyone.

Tranquility in Gruene, TX

We loved our stay at this adorable house! The attention to detail in creating a Texas feel is in every room. I love to cook and the kitchen did not disappoint - enough room for a couple of cooks. The beds are very comfortable. And that backyard is a little oasis! Whether you’re reading a book on the patio loveseat during the day or listening to the bubbling pool while sitting around the fire pit at night, it’s pure tranquility! The proximity to the historic district of Gruene can’t be beat. The house is minutes from daily live music, restaurants and shopping. So convenient! The owners were fantastic to work with. We loved staying here so much, we booked again for next year!

2nd time as good as the first

This was our second time renting the Gruene House. We loved it so much the first time, we had to stay twice as long! It was exactly like we remembered and it felt good to be back. The owners are a delight to work with and are quick to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. If you'd like a more detailed review, go to my Mar. 2020 posting. Incredible home & location!

Our stay at the Gruene House was perfect. The house is super comfortable and very well appointed. We especially enjoyed the spacious and tranquil outdoor areas (patio, pool and decks). A wonderful place to relax. The town of Gruene (less than a block away) is beyond charming with an abundance of shops, restaurants, music that make for great walking/exploring/entertainment. The hosts are exceedingly nice, responsive and accommodating - very easy to work with. All in all, a great home. I highly recommend it!

Wow!

It's hard to put into works how amazing this home is! From the moment we stepped through the door we were in awe of everything. We loved the Texas-chic décor which gave us a true southern feel. The house was immaculately clean and well stocked with anything you'd ever need. We especially appreciated the little things like plenty of hangers in the closets and extra toiletries in the bathrooms. The master bedroom is on the main floor and the bed was so comfortable. Once again there was no shortage of pillows, bedding, and blankets. Everything from sheets to bath towels was of high quality. Montie was a joy to work with. She was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had and was very accommodating. Now for the best part...the backyard. It was truly paradise! Having our own pool, gas fire pit surrounded by rocking chairs, a gas grill, and plenty of lounge chairs and eating areas made us feel like we had our own resort. The backyard is very secluded and at night the soft lights in the landscaping and pool were an awesome sight! Literally, the only negative aspect to our stay was the COVID-19 crisis that hit the country about half-way through. The historic town of Gruene, with their unique shops, restaurants, and live music, slowly closed their doors due to the virus. However even that was turned into a positive because it allowed us to hang out in the backyard and enjoy it even more. We highly recommend this place and hope to be back another time when we can experience Gruene and the surrounding area to its fullest. Thank you, Montie and Jim, for a most memorable trip!

Great Home

Attractive Texas decore, clean and comfortable, close to Gruene Historic District with shops and great restaurants. Nicely landscaped yard with grill area, fire pit, and pool. Friendly, helpful owners with any questions.

Rare gem

The home has a wonderful location in Gruene. Live music, shops, restaurants, etc., all very close. That alone makes this a gem. But in addition, the pool is fantastic, the owners are extremely responsive, nice fire pit, and the house is beautiful. The best house I’ve ever rented by far.

This is by far one of the best “finds” on VRBO. Not only is this home tastefully decorated, the outside landscaping and pool area are beyond exquisite. Walking distance to live entertainment in Gruene is the icing on the cake!! Owners were extremely attentive!! Loved everything about this place. We are coming back next year.

Just like last visit, everything was perfect.

Just as with other times we have stayed at "The Gruene House," everything was perfect. It is obvious that these homeowners do continuous maintenance and that means that upon arrival we expect all to be in order and it is. We shall hopefully return.

Fabulous location in the heart of Gruene!

We had a wonderful stay at The Gruene House! From the location to the nearby entertainment to the outdoor pool & firepit, we couldn’t have had a better time! The house is inviting, clean and comfortable. All guests that were with us remarked on the comfortable bedding in the rooms. Plenty of space for family and friends to visit. The house and surrounding areas were everything we wanted for our family vacation. The owners were very responsive to us whenever we had a question or needed advice. We look forward to returning soon!

As winter Texans we wanted to be located between Austin and San Antonio where our kids and grandkids live. The Gruene House was perfect! Plenty of room, walking distance to bars and restaurants. Accommodations were excellent. We want to come back next winter.

Just as advertised!

Nothing about what we experienced was different than what was promised concerning this vacation rental. We were just steps away from Gruene Hall and all the fine restaurants in the Gruene Historic District. Every detail has been thought about and provided for inside of The Gruene House. Need a CD player? Reading material? A bicycle, one each for the two of you? Even a tooth pick? For us it became a game, "I bet they didn't think about ..." But they did! On top of all that, they were available and responsive, like when we needed just one more restaurant suggestion, or directions to Riley's Tavern, world's best dive bar. We are going back!!

We live and work in Houston and get to Gruene as often as we can. We plan to retire in the area someday. In the meantime, work often gets in the way of spending more time in Gruene!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

We grew up driving 3 hours from Houston to New Braunfels and Gruene to float the Guadalupe and eat at the famous Gristmill. When we learned that this house was for sale, we thought we had found a secret treasure! We never knew there was this quiet neighborhood tucked away in the heart of downtown Gruene and that you could be so lucky to actually live there! The house didn't have a pool so in 2010 we built the custom designed pool to feel like the river is in front of you. The bubbling sound of the fountain and the green river-like water is soothing and relaxing (alot cleaner and less crowded!) We bought this house to share our secret with our friends, family and you!

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This home is unique primarily because of it's location being a very short walk to all that Gruene has to offer. There is alot of new construction that is extending Gruene further out but it's a much further walk in the Texas heat. We love that we don't have to drive into Gruene for a drink, grab a bite or catch a live band. This is as close as you can get in a private home with all the amenities. In addition, the home and it's decor is warm and inviting--like being on vacation at a bed and breakfast, not a sterile rental with no personality. We like having the space, privacy and peacefulness that you can't get with other properties.
