Acerca de este alojamiento
1BR garden cottage on a large lot in heart of coastal Milton NSW. Dog friendly.
Milton Village Retreat (MVR) is a secluded one-bedroom, solar-powered, air-conditioned, garden cottage in the heart of the historic rural township of Milton. It's on the NSW south coast close to beaches at Mollymook. Enjoy MVR's fast wifi connection, exclusive-use north-facing deck and its large shady pation umbrella, comfy chairs and Weber BBQ. We particularly welcome a single well-behaved dog (fee) which will be free to use the lawn and roam around the secure, dog-fenced yard and garden.
The bedroom has a luxury queen bed with topper, made up with crisp clean linen. It has a large built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers, a lounge chair and bedside tables with device charging capacity. There is a full sized bathroom/laundry combined. The shower and toilet have disability handrails (though not fully Disability Compliant).
The kitchen is part of an open plan dining and lounge. It has has an electric stove, medium sized refrigerator, microwave and a range of appliances (no dishwasher). The living/dining area has a work desk, Koala sofa bed (MVR can accommodate a maximum of 4), lounge chairs and a dining table with settings and seating for 4.
Access to MVR is via a battleax (between houses) driveway. This is diagonally opposite a large local farm grazed by sheep and cattle; Milton is indeed a beautiful hilltop rural village.
It's just a short stroll from MVR to the heritage-listed village with its cafes, homewares, dress shops, pubs (Milton and Star) and bars (Altar, Harvest, Small Town Provisions and Yuki). Other food offerings include cafes (Pilgrims Vegetarian Cafe, Brown Sugar Coffee, Peach Coffee, Beurre Noisette patisserie); restaurants (Nomah middle eastern, Prickly Pear mediterranean seafood, Whats-Up-Bowl asian and Baar-Baar indian).
Mollymook, 5km drive, is now an up-market foodies paradise.: Rick Steins at Bannisters, the Pool Bar (best view with casual dining location on the south coast) and the Pavillion Roof Top Bar and Restaurant. Gwylo offers the most delicious up-market modern Asian Fusion fare.
Ulladulla also has several eateries, best known is Cupitts Winery and Restaurant, just seven minute drive away.
Magical surf and swimming beaches in Mollymook, Narrawallee, Ulladulla and Dolphin Point are all just short drives away.
From MVR you can take varying length drives to hinterland locations where you can walk, cycle and/or picnic.: eg the Clyde River, Pigeon House Mountain, Morton and other National Parks, State forests and, of course, escarpments, lakes and many beaches.
Milton Village Retreat is adjacent to, but privately separated from, the owners' residence and has it's own separate yard. Your hosts - Pip and Bill - live in the owner's residence .Though they are old hands at hosting, having owned and run Bawley Bush Retreat (now Jackson Ranch) for 25 years, MVR is managed and co-hosted by their daughter, Rachel, who with with her husband, Richard, live in another immediately adjacent but completely separated, house. Help, if required is at hand.

Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Rachel Barry
We, Pip James and Bill Powell, have lived in Milton since late 2017 and retired in 2021. Before that we used to love holidaying on the beautiful NSW south coast so it was natural for us to choose the south coast when we decided to leave the city. We sea-changed to Bawley Point from Sydney in 1991 and developed lakeside Bawley Bush Retreat (now Jackson Ranch) from scratch, and operated a wedding and accommodation venue there over the next 20 years. It was a labour of love, perhaps a folly, entailing a continuously difficult battle with over-reaching bureaucracy. Our dream there has now being enhanced by Peter Cosgrove, former owner of the Bannister Hotel Group.
Pip grew up in London and, on sea-changing, retired from an Australian career in newspaper and radio journalism, university tutoring and multiple motherhood. Bill grew up on a farm in Victoria and sea-changed from a career in financial and general management in Sydney and Canberra.
We have hobbies including being in a choir, book groups, film groups and we convene a ukelele group each Saturday when we are home. When we are home we welcome a knock on the door and are happy to answer questions and share knowledge of the area with guests.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Pip and Bill purchased their Milton property in 2017 so they would have a place to retire to close to family and friends when they later sold Bawley Bush Retreat. Milton is a heritage town located in dairy country with great restaurants, cafes and pubs, and medical facilities all within easy walking distance.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
Milton Village Retreat is a desirable location because of its proximity to the Village and its specialty stores and cafes and easy driving distance to surfing beaches, national parks and a great range of restaurants. Milton is the gateway to the hinterland areas of Pigeon House Mountain and the pristine Clyde River, several National Parks and to state forests. It also particularly well located for guests who might want to visit their relatives in the close by Sarah Claydon or Arcare retirement homes or in the nearby Milton Hospital.
