We love staying at Kevin & Michelle’s property. They are gracious hosts who are willing to answer any questions you may have, and offer help if needed. The road is an experience in itself to drive, but you are on an island! Being that you are on the hillside, there are beautiful views of Bolongo Bay. It’s centrally located, and only minutes away from most major attractions. Other than a rooster crowing in the mornings, and an occasional dog barking, it is quiet. The room is comfortable, and we have plenty of room for the 2 of us. We had daily visits from their cats, but as a cat person, we loved seeing them. This was our 3rd stay at this location, but are already trying to plan our next visit.

Great vacay spot!

It was our first time to VI and this place was perfect. The views were amazing and Michelle was so nice and helpful! The driveway definitely adds character and some fun to the whole experience. Would love to stay there again whenever we’re back!

This was my second stay at this property and would move in if I could find a job on the island! Beautiful views and hosts were incredible even with my terrible touristy driving! My kids love this place and it's the only vacation spot they've ever specifically asked to return to. I hope we are lucky enough to have a future stay!

This was our 2nd stay. As soon as we walked in, it felt like home. Michelle & Kevin are very easy to get ahold of if needed. The studio apartment is perfect for a vacation of any length of stay and that view is spectacular to wake up to each day! We will be staying here again and highly recommend it!

Awesome views, even better than in the pictures. Host was very friendly and had good tips for activities. Beach chairs, snorkels, coolers, etc available to use. Had everything we needed. It felt private and comfortable. I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.

Michelle and her husband greeted us when we arrived. They were very friendly and they made us feel at home. Michelle showed us a map and gave us some great tips. The view was outstanding. We enjoyed having our coffee on the deck and watching the iguanas in the tree nearby. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We slept well. They had everything you need right there. It's close to everything. Just a short drive either way. We enjoyed everything from snorkeling with turtles and sting rays to swimming with a sea lion. Belongo beach resort is at the bottom of the hill. We would often end our day there with dinner and drinks. The hill is steep and no guard rails. I am glad we rented a jeep. They have cats. The black and white one would come visit us every day. That made me happy. I missed my black and white cat at home. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back next year.

My kids and I really enjoyed our stay here. Clean, comfortable beds, plenty of kitchen and beach supplies, amazing views from the two decks. Drive up and down hill is challenging, so I’d definitely recommend getting a rental vehicle with good clearance. I’d stay here again!

Tropical Getaway 10/30 - 11/15/2023

This was our first time staying at Tropical Getaway. WOW!!! The views are absolutely amazing!!! Our room was clean and had everything you may need to make your stay more comfortable, fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, small coolers and beach equipment. My favorite was the grill on one of the decks! Tropical Getaway is located above Bolongo Bay Resort, and is located on the south side of the island almost halfway between Charlotte Amalia and Red Hook. It is convenient to many of the island beaches and attractions, and 15-20 minuets (based on traffic) from the airport. Be aware, the road leading to the villa is truly an “island road”... steep & narrow. Kevin & Michelle are the most gracious hosts. They met us on our first day to show us what was where in our room and explained, about getting around St. Thomas. We ran into only a couple small glitches (of our own accord) during our 2 week stay. When we reached out, it was handled promptly. As animal lovers, we enjoyed our daily visits by Compass, with Buoy occasionally tagging along. They really helped it feel even more like home, and helped us miss our cats less. We love St Thomas, and really enjoyed our stay at Tropical Getaway! We are now trying to figure out when we will be able to return! We have no difficulty in recommending a stay at Tropical Getaway! Pat & Sue

Ocean view, friendly host, a relaxing retreat!

We *loved* our 2 weeks in this St. Thomas paradise - especially the sunrises over the ocean. Host Michelle provided a great island fact sheet & answered all our questions, then left us alone to enjoy ourselves! We texted her twice & received a quick response both times. The rental has a partial bedroom dividing wall & a pull-out sofa in the living room: perfect for 2 couples or a group of 4 pals. There's also a 16' Airstream for rent, a few yards down a short, rocky path. If you're going to the Virgin Islands with a group, rent both places & stick the teenagers (or partiers) in the Airstream. The Airstream sleeps 2 comfortably, 3 in a squeeze. If you're a close family or group of friends, 7 people could fit by renting both places. Or rent just one for a comfy couple retreat! This isn't a luxurious resort. It's a relaxed beach-view retreat, high on the hill over Bolongo Bay. Cuisinart pots , nice plates & mugs, *incredibly* comfortable beds with bamboo sheets add a designer-feel in the relaxed surroundings. Unlike a lot of VI home rentals, both these rentals have great AC - a help during the rare times the tropical breeze isn't blowing. If your plan is to get married on your trip, your host Michelle also performs beachfront wedding ceremonies! There are snorkles, beach chairs & games. Are you a cat lover? Compass & Buoy appear at the sliding glass door a couple times a day & love a good scratch! Highly recommended Virgin Islands rental!

Amazing Views, Cozy, Need Own Transportation

PROS: Place was private, clean, cozy, and like home.Had no WiFi/internet/electricity issues. Stocked, full kitchen and beach supplies! There is a basket full of local menus/excursion options. AC cool enough, fans available, and breeze from the ocean was niiiiiice! Easy to reach Michelle with questions and loved that she gave helpful tips for our trip. Cats and feral chickens are around but not bothersome. CONS: Most taxis won’t come up hill so transportation will be an issue if u don’t rent a car. The car service that was suggested was unreliable. Residents we met while walking Bolongo Hill were not friendly.

We had the best time here this week! We loved every moment of our vacation. I can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful our host Michelle was! I feel like we had the true island experience that you do not get to see from a cruise ship or resort. We definitely hope to go back one day!

Spectacular Views

We enjoyed our first trip to St Thomas and found this to be a perfect location to stay. The rental had everything you would need and the view is absolutely beautiful. We didn't really see our hosts much as we spent most of our time out exploring but Michelle was very welcoming and friendly.

Quiet Getaway with Amazing Views

Kevin & Michelle do a great job of making you feel at home. They have great advice and a wonderful, clean comfortable place to spend a vacation. Close enough to visit all the beaches it's easy to to plan to see multiple beaches in a day. Though there are great food options down the hill, it felt great to come home, grill under the moonlight and relax. It's a good idea to arrive in the day time so you can follow Kevin & Michelle's landmarks & instructions to get to the house. It really comes in handy as Google Maps & Waze has it wrong . We rented a Toyota Camry sedan and it was fine to get anywhere we wanted to go. I would book this again.

Paradise found!

Excellent accommodations! Michelle is a wonderful and friendly host. Very responsive to your needs and very helpful with issues that arise. The unit is very comfortable and private. The views are spectacular, both sunrise and sunset from the decks, and the Caribbean Sea and ships coming and going. The breezes are fantastic keeps the unit very comfortable. The location on island is great but the road can be a challenge the first time you drive it, but becomes easier on subsequent trips. Looking forward to a return trip!

Excellent stay!!

Wow! This was the best experience I’ve ever had with a rental property. The property was clean, GORGEOUS, felt cozy like home, and had everything you could want. We had an issue at the airport with our rental car. Our flight was delayed and even though we rented a car, because we came in late, all the cars were gone (we were informed) and the all the rental car companies were closed. We called Michelle and Kevin immediately (panicked) and they were able to get us a driver who was honestly fantastic. Plus, they brought us to get food before driving us at the house and provided us with a rental car the next day. Watching them drive up the hill before we had to do it was also very comforting and I’m so glad things worked out the way they did. We had spoken to a local later in our trip and she was telling us how rental houses here are really a hit or miss in terms of people being helpful, so I’m SO glad we got Michelle who was always around in case we needed anything. You also cannot beat the views and the comfort and they even have a bunch of helpful items that you can bring to the beach. Anyway, I can’t rave enough about this place enough. It’s always a bit more challenging traveling with a baby, and it was really great to have had this experience go so smoothly.

Great time in a home-like rental

I had a great time staying at this home-like studio by Bologo Bay. The rental is equipped with many beach and water activity supplies that I find especially helpful during the busy holiday season. Kevin and Michelle are super nice and responsive. Kevin even helped me fixed a part in my rental car when I accidentally pumped into some palm tree driving in the dark. Michelle was nice enough to drop some food for me during my first night when I arrived late, knowing I probably would be hungry. Overall, great place, awesome view, super comfortable bed and peaceful mountain too stay, and amazing host Highly recommend!

Hands down my favorite stay in Saint Thomas, and I have been here quite a bit. Gorgeous 180 degree south facing view, you literally catch sunrise and sunset. Centrally located so you are equa distant between redhook and charlotte amalie. The road to the home is steep and rocky at times, so make sure you reserve a JEEP or an SUV. When I go, reliable internet is a must as I WFH, and it was incredible. The house came with many board games and a literal treasure trove of legos, which my 7 y/o was elated about. The home over looks a hill that is literally swamped by butterflies everyday. It is just beautiful. Kevin and Michelle were extremely responsive and knowledgeable about the island. I will definitely be booking again!

We have owned this property since 1996. We have used this unit as a vacation rental for 10 years. In 2017 we suffered devastation from hurricane Irma and ended up living in this unit until May 2019 while we renovated our home and this vacation rental. It is now fully renovated and ready for you to enjoy.

This property is crested perfectly on a hill with an amazing 230 degree view of the Caribbean Sea from St. John to Puerto Rico.

This vacation rental gives you more of a local feel yet close enough to participate in activities and mingle with other tourists.

Bolongo Beach Club is at the foot of the hill. It is a two minute drive / 10 minute (steep) walk down the hill. It is owned by an incredible family who are currently restoring it back from the beating it took in hurricanes Irma and Maria. It boasts a good Caribbean vibe bar-restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. The bar features a swimming pool that is available to restaurant guests. It also has a full water sports department with a catamaran sailing to nearby Buck Island where you can snorkel and swim with the sea turtles.
