La ubicación de la casa en la ladera suroeste de la Caldeira por Sete Cidades ofrece una vista maravillosa del Atlántico y el pueblo de Candelária. El borde del cráter de la famosa Caldeira por Sete Cidades se puede llegar a pie en solo 45 minutos.
La casa está a 17 km del aeropuerto, a 19 km de la capital Ponta Delgada, a 5 km del baño termal 'Ferraria' (en el océano), y a 10 minutos en coche de los famosos lagos de Sete Cidades y la playa de Mosteiros. We had such a great stay at Casa Criptomeria ! The house is really nice and has everything one needs. There is a huge and very beautiful garden as well, from which you have a great view on the ocean. The kids enjoyed to play football in the garden and dip in the pool at the end of the day. We really appreciated Sergio taking so much time to showing us around and giving us a lot of good advice on the things we should do or see. He had brought us eggs from his hens, a bottle of great wine from Portugal and some cheese and fruit! It was so nice, thank you very much for everything!

We enjoyed our stay in the house.everything was as decripted. It is spacious enough for 6 people. Its on a lovely location with a hugh garden. The owners are very friendly and helpfull.

Immaculate Rental and Property

Maria and Sergio were the most welcoming and helpful owners we have ever had in a Holliday rental. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful visit to Sao Miguel. Their rental unit is in a separate building behind their own home which is behind a locked automatic gate and looks out onto the ocean with large glass windows on two sides. The grounds are expansive with flowers, trees, a gazebo, swings, and an above ground pool. It’s definitely a rural setting and location a good 20-25 minute drive to the city center on a very curvy road so a car is definitely recommended. There is a small grocery store not far from the house and the kitchen had everything you might need to cook and eat in. We highly recommend Casa Criptomeria to visitors who are comfortable driving on narrow winding roads. Five stars.

The best house we have stayed in! Maria and Sergio are perfect hosts, offering helpful information during check in and very responsive to any questions we had. The property was immaculate and the house exceeded my expectations. Our buggy ride with Sergio allowed us to see sites that we otherwise could not have seen. One of the highlights of the trip!! You won’t regret choosing this property!!

Best of VRBO!

Maria and Sérgio are wonderful, welcoming hosts and the house is well situated and comfortable. Hang a plastic bag on the gate with an order slip and find freah bread waiting before first light. The island is small and readily explored from Candelaria with car or bicycle. In a car you could be at any point of Sao Miguel in 90 minutes and most places in less than an hour. The sunset at Ferraria and snorkeling among colorful fish at Mosteiros are nearby.

Very spacious location

Highest rating without any doubt. The property is located ideally at the end of Candelaria. Very quiet with a phantastic view on the Atlantic Ocean. The highlight is, indeed, the buggy tour. Sergio is a very experienced driver and you will the chance to drive on "roads" where ordinary cars cannot. If you read comments on the dog - do not b e afraid. He is very, very friendly and will consider you a true friend. Thanks Maria and Sergio

Dream Start Azores Trip

I can unreservedly recommend the Criptoméria house. The landlords Maria and Sérgio are extremely friendly, helpful and always available for a nice chat. The garden surrounding the house is a dream, as is the view towards the sea and the mountains. The location of the house is very good, i.e. from the airport in approx. 25 min, shopping possibility for small things approx. 5 min, all sights on the island quickly reachable, due to the good connection. We would come back at any time.

Maria & Sergio # 1

This house and location we found most refreshing. Both the hosts are fantastic in communication, preparing the house and providing a thoughtful welcome package of essentials to get you on your way without stress. I would recommend spending 20 minutes or so with Sergio as his recommendations we found invaluable. From the moment you step inside the house and move through the house you can see the care and thoughtfulness from the hosts. Well equipped and a couple of simple rules made our stay very enjoyable. This is a large piece of property that you share with the host, although you each have separate houses. The hosts are most respectful of your privacy. The scenery, access to the property, swing set, chickens, wild birds and one of the most friendliness, lovable dog named King all made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. This was our first visit to the island and we felt very fortunate to have found hosts which are so caring and thoughtful to ensure you have a completely pleasant stay. Fuel, grocery and restaurants are all very close by. A clean well equipped place to stay is always what's expected, but to have such caring, thoughtful, kind hosts is what made our stay even more better than we expected. Thank you so very much Maria & Sergio.

A wonderful stay on Sao Miguel Island

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Casa Criptomeria in Candelaria, and it did not disappoint! Maria and Sergio's home was beautiful, and exactly as pictured on their listing. Our family of 4 had everything we needed during our stay, with our hosts even providing some initial groceries upon our arrival, which was very helpful! Beautiful views, well maintained grounds and a very comfortable, cozy home... made even more special by our gracious hosts (and their friendly dog King)! Close enough to local towns for booked tours but far enough away where we felt like we had our own private oasis. If you have the opportunity, take Sergio up on a ride in his custom-made buggy! Would definitely recommend Casa Criptomeria to anyone considering a stay on Sao Miguel Island. And if you're renting a car, we recommend Benauto Rent-a-car, referred to us by Maria. Micaela and the family there were AMAZING and provided us incredible service and very reasonable prices. Thank you again Sergio and Maria, you helped make our stay in the Azores unforgettable!

Idyllic retreat - Beautiful grounds & gardens!

There were four of us at this wonderful place, all older women. We found it an idyllic retreat - very comfortable, clean, quiet, and beautifully surrounded by lush gardens and grounds. It is located in Candelaria, which is about a 30 minute drive from the main city (& airport) and nearby several "must see" sights. We rented a car from a smaller and local (Candelaria) business, which I highly recommend (Michaela, Ben Auto Rentacar - tel +351-919-158-531). She met us at the airport coming and going. You will need a car when staying here. It's a lovely part of the island and a good base for sightseeing. It's important to rent early as I'm told the rentals sell out. Also, we needed an automatic, which are hard to come by. So the earlier this is locked in the better. The house itself was fine, with clothes washer included which was very helpful. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 downstairs (Queen) and 2 up (2 twin beds in each). The only bathroom is on the 1st floor. The living room had enough comfortable seating for all of us, and there is a long table on the porch which was lovely to take our meals. Also a long table inside. Really all the comforts of home. The owners, Sergio and Maria, are very friendly and helpful. Check in was easy. We really didn't interact too much with them as the house was so well set up. After our stay here we were another week at another place in the city. While that place was excellent, w really preferred the quiet and remoteness of Candelaria.

More than met our expectations

Casa Criptomeria is a lovely place to stay - light, airy and surrounded by lovely gardens. The photographs on the site do not do it full justice. The house is well equipped and lovingly maintained. As a family of 5 we felt that we had plenty of space. What really added to our whole stay were the owners - Sergio and Maria. They made every effort to make sure that we had a good experience. On several occasions they went way beyond the call of duty and were always friendly, helpful and generous. Maria would bake an Azorean delicacy for us, Sergio always ready to advise or lend a hand. We spotted 3 serious pastimes of Sergio's - gardening : he loved to explain his garden and fresh fruit and veg was always available to us. - croquet : Sergio has built his own croquet court in which some hotly contested matches take place with the local men. He was always ready to teach us and play with us. - motor vehicles : he is an engineer. He has built his own buggy, and took us on a great ride round the nearby crater. We really enjoyed the company of Sergio and Maria and their family, and thank them for their hospitality. If you stay in the months November to April, Sergio gives you full use of the family car without any charge. This makes the whole package extremely good value. He also meets you at the airport and drops you back, which makes arrival easy and stress free. The island is lovely. If you like to walk, explore, photograph in a beautiful environment, then this is the place for you. The island is one giant garden. We found plenty of mountain and crater walks. The craters of Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo are stunning, and well worth a good long walk around. Nordeste is well worth exploring, with a stunning waterfall along the way. There are plenty of volcanic pools to bathe in - even heated waterfalls and a sea inlet that has waves come in cold and go out warm (nearby Ponta da Ferraria). Whale watching costs about 50 euros a person - we saw plenty of dolphin and a fin whale. We had 3 days scuba diving - we can recommend Azores Sub in Vila Franca, who were very attentive and professional. Sao Miguel is very green and fertile. In order to be so green sometimes it has to rain! We had quite mixed weather, but when the bad came it usually passed through pretty quickly. It is an ideal place for those who enjoy natural beauty and the outdoor lifestyle. We highly recommend Casa Criptomeria and will definitely return ourselves.

Magnifico

Ha estado una gran experiencia, no solo por el lugar donde esta (tranquilo y rodeado de naturaleza) tambien por el trato recibido por Maria y Sergio, unos gran anfitriones! Te aconsejan sobre todo lo que hacer, cuando (segun el tiempo) ir a una zona u otra de la isla, te ofrecen un paseo con boggi por la zona (nosotros no pudimos hacerlo porque tenemos una bebe de 10 meses y no era adecuado) etc. Una casa comodo, muuuuuy limpia y miy equipada (con el bebe nos dieron cuna, trona y minipimer para hacer su comida) No podemos estar mas contentos con nuestra elección. Excelente. Muy bien cuidada. Mucho mejor que lo que muestran las fotos.

La casa está muy bien equipada y tiene un jardín espectacular. Hemos pasado unos días fantásticos junto a María y Sergio. Han sido los anfitriones perfectos, siempre cuidando los detalles, proporcionándonos informacion de la isla y el inolvidable paseo en boggie. Volveremos seguro!

Inmejorable, el mejor sitio donde alojarse.

Todo fantástico, muy limpio y acogedor. El jardin inmenso, la piscina y la situación de la propiedad en una zona tan tranquila hacen que te sientas en el paraiso. El trato de Sergio y Maria ha sido excelente. Sergio nos invitó a un paseo en su buggy por toda la ladera del volcán que forma el lago de "sete cidades", descubriendo vistas inolvidables que no habíamos visto en nuestra visita anterior a la isla. Unsere Zeit in der CASA CRIPTOMERIA war einfach nur traumhaft. Das Haus ist sehr schön gelegen, hat einen wunderschönen, riesigen Garten, in dem die Kinder toben, schaukeln und in den Pool hüpfen können. Das Haus ist sehr sauber und geräumig, es mangelt an nichts. Netterweise statten die Vermieter das Haus mit allem aus, was man braucht: Waschpulver für die Waschmaschine, Spülmittel, Shampoo, Duschgel und sogar ein Begrüßungskorb mit Lebensmitteln standen für uns bereit.Sergio, der Vermieter, ist sehr hilfsbereit und nett und versorgt einen mit allen möglichen Tipps rund um Ausflüge und Inselhighlights. Die Buggytour mit ihm wird ein unvergessliches Erlebnis für uns bleiben! Wir können die Unterkunft sowie Sao Miguel uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen. Jeden Morgen konnten man auf Wunsch frisches Brot geliefert bekommen. In der Küche steht schon einiges bereit zum Kochen. Der große Garten und der verspielte Hund haben unseren Aufenthalt noch schöner gemacht. Absolutes Highlight war die Buggy Tour von Sergio rund um den Lagoa Verde und den Lagoa Azul.

Eine aufregende sehr erlebnisreiche Woche

Wir haben uns in dieser - sehr sauberen - Ferienwohnung gleich zu Hause gefühlt. Der Gastgeber begrüßte uns persönlich, zeigte die komplette Einrichtung und den dazugehörigen Garten (sehr weitläufig mit kleinen Swimmingpool, Gartenliegen, Barbequemöglichkeiten).Der Kühlschrank war gut gefüllt (Butter, Käse, Schinken, Milch, Getränke und Eier - von den eigenen Hühnern!), auf dem Tisch war Brot, Brötchen, Tee, Kaffee und Obst. Eine gute Flasche Wein war auch dabei. Es gibt sogar einen Brötchenservice.Wir wurden gleich mit Karten, Infomaterial und QR-Codes in unserer Landessprache versorgt und der Hausherr markierte auf den Karten handschriftlich POI's die wir unbedingt besuchen sollten. Ebenso wurden Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten eingezeichnet.Die Gastgeber waren jederzeit für uns erreichbar, wohnen direkt nebenan und sind sehr diskret. Für unsere Sicherheit sorgte King unser freundlicher Haushund.Die Zimmer sind holzvertäfelt (criptomeria) und schnell zu beheizen. Überall vor den Türen und Fenstern sind Fliegengitter (zu unserer Reisezeit keine Mücken).Die in unserer kurzen Zeit möglichen - vom Hausherrn empfohlenen - Besichtigungspunkte waren super! Wir fuhren - dank der Einweisung und der Karten - von einem Highlight zum Nächsten.Doch die Krönung war die Buggy-Tour mit Sergio - ein unvergessliches Erlebnis! Vielen Dank an Maria & Sergio!Die empfohlene Autovermietung von Sergio mit Hol- und Bringservice zum Flughafen ist bestens.

Excellent accueil

Nous avons passé un court séjour chez Maria et Sergio mais qui s'est très très bien passé ! Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement dans ce petit coin de paradis entouré d'un grand jardin donnant vue sur l'océan, où nous nous sommes sentis "comme à la maison" ! Merci beaucoup !

Heerlijke rustige accomodatie

Geweldige (grote) tuin, in huis alles aanwezig, erg netjes en zeer gastvrije eigenaars. Uitgebreide informatie over Sao Miguel en zijn bezienswaardigheden gekregen van Sergio, hij kan altijd nog gids worden 😊
