Una yurta es una estructura de tela circular similar a una tienda de campaña con un marco de celosía de madera que se originó entre las tribus nómadas de Asia. Our stay at Acadia yurts was great. The check-in was easy and the yurt was clean, cozy and comfortable. Karen and Aaron were great hosts and very helpful. If I'm ever back in Acadia I would love to stay here again!

Our first time in a yurt and we loved it! The property is so well maintained and we had all the essentials we needed. It's an added bonus to have the wellness center on site and be able to book a "float", sauna or yoga class. We had so much fun exploring the area and coming back to the yurt to enjoy dinner on the grill or stove and relax outdoors. We plan to return! (Check in was simple, communication excellent, wi-fi worked great and kitchen was simple and had what was needed.)

Aaron and Karen have clearly spent so much time curating the perfect experience for their guests. The location and vibe felt like camping but nothing else about our stay felt like we were “roughing it.” Our yurt was more spacious than any hotel room, linens and facilities were clean, fresh, and comfortable. The yoga class we enjoyed was an amazing start to our week and we wish we had carved out more time for a massage or float in the sensory deprivation tank.While Acadia Yurts are a bit of a drive from the hikes and bike rides we had planned, we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. Aaron and Karen were such present and welcoming hosts. Our time at their yurts was incredible and we strongly recommend a stay there!

Great Yurt in the midst of the trees

We stayed just over a week and really enjoyed all of it. The facility and property in general weee great; our hosts made everything easy and prepared the Yurt beautifully. We had not stayed in one before, but were very pleasantly surprised. They even provided eye covers and earplugs if you wanted to use them. I did not use them, but I thought it evidence of the attention to detail. You should try it!

Wonderful Experience

This was a great, easy way to experience camping in Acadia. The place was clean, comfortable, and lots of fun. It had every creature comfort you would expect. We had a wonderful time in a quiet, beautiful setting. Thank you!

Heaven on the quiet side

My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!The grounds were lovely. The yurt was gorgeous, fully stocked and so cozy on even the rainiest of nights. The community room with laundry and games to share was a great added bonus. We didnt have time to use the wellness center, but look foward to returning and trying out the sauna. We much preferred being on this side of MDI. Quiet and secluded, but close enough to everything. Thank you for making our visit and our anniversary so special.

Great home away from home!

The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for cooking meals. The laundry shed had an abundance of games and books and other extras to check out and share (like camp chairs to view the sunrise on Cadillac Mtn.) The location was close enough to other restaurants, shops, etc. but remote enough to be away from traffic. Loved it!

10/10 would recommend any day, any time. What a gem of a place to stay. Clean, comfortable, well equipped, great quiet location... the list goes on. Fantastic 'base camp' from which to partake in all that MDI has to offer.

Best Family Vaca!

Acadia Yurts is just what we needed to reset and relax before the business of the school year begins! This simple way of living in the most quaint town in Maine with water and mountains 5 minutes away had everything we needed. Karen and Aaron have quite the operation going and have inspired us to downsize in our own home and enjoy the little things more! The yurt was larger than expected and had all the amenities we could ask for, even beach towels! I cannot say enough amazing things about this magical spot in the woods. We will be back and am already recommending to friends! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Cozy glamping

We enjoyed the yurt and its location a great deal. Karen greeted us in person, and Aaron and Karen take good care of the properties and guests. The yurt has all the necessities and the decor is simple and elegant; everything was comfortable and convenient. Being in the woods in a cabin-like yurt fit right into the spirit of our hiking vacation. The location was perfect for us. We liked staying in Southwest Harbor with its small downtown. It had a handful of wonderful local restaurants and shops, away from the heavily commercialized Bar Harbor area. Conveniently, there was a grocery store just over 5 min away, and several feet outside of the yurts, you step onto roads going through the woods of Acadia Park. I enjoyed going on morning runs there a few times. Some of the hikes we went on were only a few minutes’ drive from the yurts. We would go back in a heartbeat to the area and to Acadia Yurts.

Très belle semaine dans cette yourte. L'endroit est propre et bien situé. Il y a tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner. Étant un peu plus éloignés du centre de Bar Harbor, nous avons pu découvrir une nouvelle partie du parc Acadia que nous ne connaissions pas. Les sentiers à moins de 5 minutes de route étaient magnifiques. Nous y retournerons, c'est certain.

Yes for Yurt

We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful out yurt and the property were. Anything we needed was there. Comfortable beds and bedding, hot water and good water pressure, a community fire pit, chairs and picnic tables for morning coffee, games and cards- it was a perfect way to be comfortable in nature. We will stay again the next time we visit Maine!

Perfect home base

We loved our stay at Acadia Yurts! It was the most ideal spot for all the places we wanted to visit. A easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor and also very close to the quieter side of Acadia. The other reviews are true- the shower is amazing after a long day out hiking! We are already trying to get family to go and stay. Highly recommend just booking it!

Aaron is an Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 15+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.

Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite.

As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home- running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We deeply hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!!
