Waterloo House se remonta a 1815 y tiene una historia interesante. Era una vez una escuela de chicos y tiene los restos de las antiguas alfarerías Bideford en los muros de los jardines. La casa se encuentra con orgullo en una terraza georgiana y tiene vistas a una bolera muy bien cuidados. Situado en una calle sin salida, con tráfico limitado, hay aparcamiento fuera de la propiedad (con permisos) y en los deportes suelo a pocos pasos de distancia. La casa se encuentra en 3 plantas y dispone de un alojamiento amplio para 12 personas. Hay 6 dormitorios, (4 dobles y 2 individuales), 3 salas de recepción, una cocina de buen tamaño, y una sala de juegos. En el jardín se encuentra el espacio y el aislamiento con pasos que conducen a una terraza. Bideford es conocido cariñosamente como 'The Little White Town' y tiene un interesante laberinto de estrechas calles para explorar con muchos edificios georgianos y victorianos finas. Algunas tiendas encantadoras y cafeterías están a sólo unos minutos a pie de la casa y también hay un parque muy bonito completa con piscina infantil.

Gaynor is a brilliant host and the house is a wonderful base to explore North Devon. We really enjoyed our stay and were well looked after and very pleased with the house and all the amenities. Would stay again and 100% recommend the house to others.

The house is a beautiful building in a good location in Bideford. However, the plumbing is archaic. Waste Water runs openly onto the patio when using the shower or sinks. There’s a general lack of cleanliness eg pillows without protectors and clearly old and used. Kitchen equipment not clean - we had to wash everything before using it. The room facing the front were very noisy resulting in difficulty sleeping with windows open.

Check in was nice and easy. Host met us at the door. Parking was good, space in the football ground opposite for 4 cars. The house itself is big, beds were comfy, host arranged a cots and high chairs as requested. We had a small issue with the loo, but the response from the host was great and back up and running in no time at all. Plenty of space for our party of 12, mixture of ages from 1 to 50’s. Outdoor garden area large and contained to keep the kids in. House could do with another shower for large parties, but courses us no issues. Location is on a quiet street and access to all surrounding locations is great. Would recommend staying here for large parties of persons.

A house with style (and lots of space)

This is a house that shows its age in a stylish way. Lovely secluded garden in the heart of the town. Sited right in the heart of Bideford with it’s tidal River Torridge close by. A friendly town with real shops; and supermarkets if you must. Obliging owners. No off-road parking but plenty of cheap parking across the road. Permit for one car may be available. True to its description. Charming and intriguing if lacking the en-suite luxury some might desire. And as they say in the property programmes on TV: “Location, location, location.” Thoroughly recommended: wish we were still there .

Good weekend in Bideford

In general the house was very good and I think it was very similar to what we expected. It was very clean and it was very comfortable in relation to all the people who used the house. The kitchen was very nice, very well equipped and the oven was fantastic! I think the house needs a couple of renovations anyways since there a few things which are quite old. Also it doesn't make too much sense to have so many bedrooms if there is only one bathroom.

Can I suggest you make the laundry room into a downstairs shower and toilet, 9 people, 1 shower, not great! Other than that minor quibble everything else, great! Roger & Jane hall

Spacious period property in the heart of town

A great long weekend at this amazing property. Yes, it needs some work, but the house is beautiful, incredibly spacious, and the garden a delight. It was extremely well equipped for a three generation holiday, with many toys for the kids, two reception rooms to get some peace and quiet, and the balcony is a lovely sun trap. The hosts were extremely helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The house isn't as advertised in the pictures and is in need of lots of money spent

We have just returned from a 3 night break as a family of 12. We had a lovely family time away in Bideford but we were all very disappointed in the appearance of the house. The house is a lovely size for us all and the kitchen is fully equipped but the house is in desperate need of some TLC. The carpets are thread bare, the windows are only single pane and the beds are really uncomfortable. The host is very informative and accommodating but the house wasn't what we expected from the photographs

Had a great few days in Bideford

12 of us stayed for few days to celebrate my father in laws 80th birthday. The house is big and roomy with enough space to not be be cluttered together. The heating was great and for a very old house it was not cold at all. The garden is great and the balcony is a lovley spot to enjoy a morning coffee. The house is in a perfect location just a 1 min walk from Bideford and close to a couple of great pubs. All in all a great stay.

GOOD LOCATION

We stayed at this property for a week in August as a family of nine adults. On arrival we noticed how tired the property looked and did not compare to the pictures we viewed online and unfortunately this continued throughout the property. This is a lovely old building and with a lot of TLC and modernisation could be a stunning property to let. It overlooks the bowls club and football club which was a nice added bonus. However, all of the rooms need a thorough clean and attention to decoration. The patio area is a sun trap but again needs updating and made more inviting. It’s in a great quiet location ideal for touring North Devon, close to the centre of town and the river. We had no issue for parking, as there were spaces available most days or you could park in the football club ground for a nominal price.

Excellent place for large groups.

We had a great time, really big house, twelve adults plenty of space for all. it probably wants a bit of work, but I personally loved the old feel of knowing its history and the styling is classic Georgian. Would happily go back if we all go away again next year.

A Perfect Family Holiday

Waterloo House is spacious and comfortable. Lovely airy bedrooms, a magical garden and a great patio area. An abundance of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. Tea towels, washing up equipment etc., all provided. We went as a family of twelve to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary - with our three children and five grandchildren whose ages range between 1year and 13years. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our week and loved the house. They all want to book it again next year.

We live in a small village in North Cornwall where we also run Stewarts House Holiday Cottages. Having self catered on holidays ourselves over the years with our own family, we had an idea of what we wanted to offer in a holiday home. With a few years experience behind us now and with local knowledge we can help our guests get the most out of their holiday. It's important to us that our guests enjoy their stay and we will always be on hand if needed.

We bought Waterloo House in 2004 and could not believe that a house of this size had not been split into flats or changed beyond any recognition. We realised also that the house is quite unique for this area and there are very few quite like it. The history books tell us it was once a boys school, and that the old Bideford potteries were once on the land which now occupies the back garden. These cottages were knocked down but you can still see the remnants of the fireplaces in the walls. Although the house has lots of space it has a warm and cosy feel, being part of a terrace helps. It has some lovely full length Georgian windows which allow the light to flood in. The views directly over the towns bowling green are delightful and in distance you can see the new Torridge bridge.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

If you are trying to cater to lots of different needs, Waterloo House may have the answer. A central town position for easy shopping and doorstep activities for teenagers and younger people, whilst the beaches and countryside are a very easy short drive away. Cars will be able to park in the sports ground opposite at £2.50 per day and outside the house for loading and during off peak permit hours. If you need to rely on public transport, the buses can take you to Barnstaple and beyond. We are fortunate that the house is in a quiet no through road and there seems to be little traffic noise for a house as central as this.
