Beautiful property, lovely holiday - highly recommended

We had a brilliant time staying in Hoya Grande - there were 11 of us in total and we could have easily fitted in another family. The house is stunning and the courtyard is such a lovely place to relax as a family. It is obviously an old house and so some of the decor, in the kitchen especially, is a little worn but that just adds to the charm. Pierre-Olivier was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions and requests really promptly - the perfect host. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is mainly just because the kitchen and a few of the other areas could be slightly better equipped. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would! The dishwasher wasn't very reliable and needs a bit of an overhaul, a few more implements such as as a cheese grater and more chopping boards would have also been helpful. Also to note that the electric organ shown in the photos doesn't work and the piano is really badly out of tune - we had hoped to play when we were there! However, the pool area is fantastic and the pool was warm enough for the kids and grown ups to go in every day - just put the cover on when not in use. We also had some epic football matches and badminton games on the lawn by the pool.

Casa especial

Se trata de una casa antigua en desigual estado de conservación, según las estancias. Se duerme fresco por las noches y corre un aire estupendo. De lo que más hemos podido disfrutar es del patio interior. Ni un ruido por la noche, lo que se agradece bastante. Convendría revisar el menaje de cocina que en el caso de las sartenes por ejemplo, debe ser renovado. Por poner un pero, el tema del agua caliente para tantos huéspedes como alberga esta casa también hay que revisarlo. En definitiva una casa con encanto, especial y fresca. Muy bien atendidos por el anfitrión.

The villa was fantastic- a unique piece of history- and the owner was so kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He was always available if we needed anything but was not at all intrusive. A great place for a family holiday - we were three generations, 13 people, and we all had our own space.

Une architecture idéale pour des retrouvailles sereines en famille

Nous avons réalisé au cours du séjour que l'architecture du lieu nous avait permis de passer une semaine tous ensemble sans tensions familiales ! La maison est immense. Elle offre une multitude d'espaces privatifs, organisés autour d'un grand patio. La disposition des chambres forme de véritables appartements ou chaque famille dispose de son espace de repos et d'indépendance : épais murs du 17ème siècle, multiples salles de bains et salons privatifs ! Le patio est un espace de convivialité spontanée où l'on se retrouve, et où les enfants peuvent jouer ensemble, en plusieurs groupes (ambiances distinctes dans chaque coin du patio, ombre, soleil, salons exterieurs, ping pong, billard français, jeux), tout en étant surveillés très facilement, le patio étant clos. La maison s'ouvre également sur deux terrasses et un grand jardin-piscine , les trois avec une belle vue sur mer. Ces trois espaces étant également séparés offrent des ambiances supplémentaires : on se surprend à passer des journées entières sur place sans s'embêter. La maison est très bien équipée et fonctionnelle. Elle affiche un caractère hors normes avec ses poutres, ses murs épais, sa fontaine centrale et ses immenses palmiers que j'imagine centenaires. La piscine, chauffée et peu profonde est idéale pour les enfants comme les adultes. Le village est joli, supermarchés à moins de 10 minutes en voiture. L'accueil de Pierre, son service, sa disponibilité et ses conseils locaux furent sans pareil.

Wonderful vacation

We stayed at Colonial House last month to celebrate my wife's 50th Birthday - there were 6 in our party. The villa is absolutely fantastic and in a wonderful peaceful location yet only 10 minutes in a taxi to all the bars, restaurants and nightlife. Pierre was always on hand to assist if we had any queries and was a great host. The village has a small convenience store and a great little tapas bar J.R's where we had good fun with the locals and also the owner and his wife - her cooking was amazing! We cannot express how lovely our stay at Colonial House was only that we will definitely stay there again. The peace and tranquility, the amazing views of the sea and La Gomera, the stunning sunsets viewed from the poolside and the terrace, the sound of trickling water from the courtyard fountain, the call from the resident peacock and the character and history of the villa itself all made our holiday so perfect in every way. Having been the victim of an earlier scam booking it was such a pleasure dealing with Pierre and Maria. This property is highly recommended to book so you can witness all this for yourselves.

Maison au calme et pleine de charme

Articulée autour d'un agréable patio de plus de 200m2, la maison est très grande. Quelques regrets cependant. Les photos montrent une maison moderne. Cela ne reflète pas vraiment la réalité des prestations de la maison qui reste quand même dans son jus et présente quelques carences d'équipement. Pas de chauffage, piscine à 24 degrés, four au gaz.... En conclusion, même si le rapport qualité prix est plutôt décevant, nous avons malgré tout passé une agréable semaine. Merci au propriétaire pour sa gentillesse et sa disponibilité

Wonderful historic house

We, a bunch of relatives, 14 in total, age 5 to 78 had a great time in this house! If you want everything to be new this is not the house for you, but if you like feeling the wings of history you should definitely go here. I loved it! Walking out onto the courtyard, watching the thick walls and the high ceilings imagining what have happened here before. When we were at home we spent time by the pool, swimming, relaxing in sun or shade. We also played a lot of table tennis and just relaxed in the courtyard. There was plenty of room for everyone. We had breakfast and dinner on the patio overlooking the ocean, watching the stars in the evening. Pierre was a very helpful host, arranging an extra bed, helping us ordering food and giving us good information on what to do in the area. All in all we had a truly great stay!

Erholung und Ruhe

Wir waren in der ersten Oktober Woche mit 12 Personen in diesem sehr schönen Anwesen. Der Vermieter Pierre Oliver hat uns sehr freundlich begrüßt und uns das Haus gezeigt, er hat für uns Wein und Obst bereitgestellt was uns sehr gefreut hat. Der Innenhof bietet zu jeder Tageszeit auch einen Sonnen- oder Schattenplatz je nach dem was man sich im Moment wünscht. Die Zimmer bieten je nach Lage, eine tolle Aussicht auf das Meer oder angenehme Ruhe im hinteren Teil des Hauses. Der Pool ist auf ca. 25 Grad Celsius beheizt. Es stehen genügend Liegen zur Verfügung und auch bade Spielsachen für die Kinder. Das Haus hat mehrere Wohnzimmer sodas man sich auch mal zurück ziehen kann und sich nicht im Schlafzimmer aufhalten muss. Das Lieblings Zimmer der Kinder war das Musik Zimmer mit dem Klavier und die Tischtennis Platte. Wir haben uns alle sehr gut erholt und waren sehr zufrieden. Wenn wir das nächste Mal wieder mit so vielen Personen nach Teneriffa kommen würde ich es sofort wieder buchen. Très belle propriété pleine de charme avec le confort moderne. Nous avons passé un séjour formidable, nous sommes resté 15 jours et nous aurions aimé rester plus, situation magnifique , dominant la mer, calme, espace. Les enfants ont passée leur temps à jouer dans la grande piscine, faire les explorateurs dans le jardin, bref la liberté et nous avons profité des terrasses pour lire, passer de superbes moments en famille. Les propriétaires à la fois très disponibles sans être envahissants ont su nous faire sentir tellement à l'aise que nous avons l'impression d'avoir passé 15 jours chez des amis, encore un grand merci pour leur accueil et j'espère à très bientôt.

Jederzeit wieder!

Nach einem sehr freundlichen Empfang fanden wir ein tolles Haus mit einem begeisterndem Blick auf La Gomera vor! Schöne, geräumige Zimmer mit sehr guten Bädern - bis auf ein renovierungsbedürftiges -, ein sehr schöner Innenhof und eine beeindruckende Terrasse mit Blick auf das Meer. Der Poolbereich mit großem (beheizten) Pool ist schön bepflanzt, die Palmen sind deutlich größer als auf den Bildern. Warmwasser ist gelegentlich etwas spärlich. Wir waren zu zwölft, zehn Erwachsene und 2 kleine Kinder und hatten nie das Gefühl aufeinander zu sitzen. Grundnahrungsmittel für den Anfang wurden vom Besitzer freundlicherweise schon besorgt und zur Verfügung gestellt. Wir würden das Haus jederzeit wieder buchen.

Generösa ytor med plats för den stora familjen. Stor härlig pool med generösa gräsytor. Husets kolonialstil ger utrymme för enskildhet och mysiga innergård för gemensamma aktiviteter förhöjer upplevelsen. Inget var omöjligt att arrangera av värdparet. Kan verkligen rekommenderas av vår stora familj på 15 personer.

Wonderful place, full of character

Very old building with lots and lots of space. More space than you will need. If you want a modern villa with all mod cons, this is not the place for you. It is however an amazing place with incredible history. Pierre was very helpful. Any problems he sorted straight away.

Great location and a grand old house. Needs some renovation and repair work.

We had a great stay overall. The location was quiet and the size of the property was perfect for our family of ten. Pierre was a good host and couldn't have been more helpful. The property is steeped in history and its unusual layout served us very well - plenty of space for everyone. The pool area was particularly good and we spent many hours as a family down there - access was a little difficult for the older ones in the group but was manageable (Grandad is 85). There were some disappointing areas of the property which could really do with some renovation and repair work in some areas. Pierre has renovated some of the rooms but there is still a lot to do and it really showed. For the price that we paid this was not what we expected. Five of the bedrooms were great, but the first floor bedroom and bathroom needed more extensive work as did the downstairs bathroom. Pierre is clearly working through the property. The kitchen is very tired but rustic - don't expect whistles and bells in here. We managed fine but the dishwasher needed a good clean and was a bit temperamental, the oven door had a loose glass screen and was small for our group.Lots of plates, pots and pans and we managed to cook meals for us all throughout the holiday. A gas BBQ is provided and served us well. The kitchen is very open and we had a few of the resident creatures in and out throughout our stay. Managed to catch one mouse during our time there so if you are squeamish this might not be for you. Plenty of space to work in there and lots of space to eat either in the large dining room which we didn't use or on the terrace or around the open area in the middle of the property. We used the inner courtyard space and the large terrace throughout our stay and it was great for getting the whole family together. The outside equipment is similar to the house in terms of condition. Good sunbeds down by the pool with two large umbrellas and some small gazebos providing shade. It really is a wonderful setting with the palm trees around the pool and garden giving it a caribbean feel. Wooden furniture by the pool is tired and needs to be replaced as does the wooden decking area - we borrowed a hammer from Pierre and knocked in every nail to make it safer to walk on. The terrace area is great with a super table to seat ten or more people. The umbrellas up there did not work properly and the sofa set has seen better days. We had a great time despite the condition of this magical property.

Wonderful historic villa, great for groups

My colleagues and I rented the villa for a month. We loved it! The historic building had so much character and charm. The location was nice and peaceful with a wonderful view. The pool is in excellent condition and makes for a great morning swim. Pierre was a wonderful host too, always friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. I can definitely recommend this villa for large groups.

Wonderful place for a family holiday!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the villa, with the central courtyard and layout giving both intimacy and space for our family group of 3 generations. It was lovely to have the pool and sun terrace, and for some days we happily entertained ourselves there without needing to leave, the children enjoying having the run of the place without a concern for disturbing others. Pierre-Olivier was a very kind and considerate host, providing food and wine and advice at all stages. It was good to find some history of the island through the house, and while Adeje is developed and touristic today there was wilder countryside and trekking to be found to the north which we enjoyed. Highly recommended as a base for families/big groups, and many thanks to Pierre-Olivier for your kindness.

Fantastic House with wonderful atmosphere

Thank you for a fantastic week with our family! 11 persons, three generations. We all loved it! Never forget La Hoya Grande, Colonial House. It improved all our best expectations! The house is very old, but is renovated in a good sense, carefully, tender and with great charm. The huge bedrooms and bathrooms are elegante and very fresh. It was a lot of space for privacy , but we loved to join together in the fantastic, charming central courtyard. There we had our meals, played, relaxed, did our baberques... Not to mentioning the fabulos terrace overlocking a spectacular wiew over the see and La Gomera. We also loved the big, well equiped, rustic kitchen, where we could cook together. The children appreciated the heated pool most of all! Pierre is very thoughtful and made us feel very welcome The Hoya Grande is easy to reach from both Airport, beaches ( Playa del Duque!) , shops and other facilities with car. Car is though necessary we think. Thank you Pierre and your wife, once again for a lovely stay in a wounderful athmosphere! We will never forget this week! We will surely recomend this house to our friends and would love to come back some day! Kerstin with family

Toller Urlaub in stimmungsvoller Finca

Schon bei der Ankunft fanden wir ein nettes Willkommens-Essens-Paket der Vermieter vor. Die Vermieter waren während der Zeit immer ansprechbar und hilfsbereit, an einem Tag stand auch ein neues Boccia-Set vor unserer Tür. Der Zustand des Hauses ist sehr gepflegt, der Pool ebenso. Die Atmosphäre in der Finca ist einzigartig, man fühlt sich in eine andere Zeit versetzt. Jederzeit wieder!
