South Wing es una hermosa casa en el pueblo de Hunmanby, solo a 3 km del mar y a 4 km de Filey, en la costa de North Yorkshire. Es antigua escuela equipada con cinco habitaciones grandes y con capacidad para 14 personas. Dispone de una sala elegante y formal con un pequeño gran piano, un fuego de leña y un comedor con paneles de roble. Con más de un acre y medio de jardines privados y bosques, mira hacia un campo de golf de 9 hoyos, canchas de tenis y un gimnasio, disponible mediante un pago por uso. Es muy conveniente para llegar a las playas, los senderos de bicicletas y los paseos juntos a la costa, y está a una distancia corta en coche de North Yorkshire Moors. El centro histórico de York está a menos de una hora y Hunmanby está bien conectado por buses y trenes.

The property was perfect for a large family group. Very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The garden is also secluded and very spacious. Great for socialising outside.

Amazing family get together

Wow what a house!!! So much more than we were expecting. It had a lovely welcoming, homely feel and had everything you could have asked for. The kitchen was incredible and very well stocked. Plenty of fire wood which we made use of all sat round in the grand living room. My Sons loved playing the piano and all the kids enjoyed playing hide and seek and running around in the grounds. It really was the perfect place for the family to come together and spend quality time making some very special memories. Andy was an excellent host. Great communication answering all my queries and sending through lots of additional information. We also booked a meal at the piebald inn in the town it was really good the pies were huge and delicious and all the staff very friendly. We can’t wait to return some day.

Family Weekend Stay

Great family stay at South Wing. The house is incredible, with large rooms to accommodate everyone. Vast gardens and grounds to explore. Warm and clean with fantastic kitchen. 2 min walk to a great fish and chip shop, pubs and co-op. Highly recommend.

Lovely setting and location

A great place to stay in a great location. Setting was lovely and would recommend a stay. It was a little cold at times, so lots of layers required at this time of year. Would still stay again though.

70th Birthday Treat

Amazing place! Birthday family get together (15 of us). Lots of space in grand family mansion. Rooms very large but although we stayed in November - it was warm throughout with a lovely cosy feel. Everything you could possibly need was catered for and host very helpful. A few minutes walk to the village. Overall an absolute treat - thank you Andrew for making this birthday a very memorable one for all of us.

Huge old house with lots of character.

Me and my family (12 of us) had a fantastic 9 day stay in the fabulous house and grounds. The pictures do not do it justice it is huge. The kids ranging from 5 years old to 12 years old loved it and explored every inch of the house and grounds playing hide and seek, tigs, races, obstacle courses and even a few competitive family games of rounders (there was a few arguments and tantrums) we hired the hot tub and the little ones loved it and used it every day. The weather was very kind and we could enjoy the bbq and fire pit late into the night, probably a-bit too late sometimes even grandma stayed up till 3am! Located in a lovely village within walking distance that has good old fashioned country pubs with great value home cooked food (dogs allowed) Every one was happy. We also visited Filey and Bridlington and there was something for everyone it was even warm enough for the kids to have a dip in the sea. On Sunday we did a Sunday dinner and found the large modern kitchen had everything (and more) than we needed, there are so many cupboards and draws we all ate in the big dining room as a family for the first time in a very long time (no phones either). Everyone enjoyed it and we created some long lasting family memories, we will return.

Beautiful South Wing

What a wonderful property! Full of character and history I would recommend this as a fantastic place to stay for a large group of friends or family. The house has everything you need from an amazingly well stocked kitchen to games equipment to play in the fabulous garden!! There were 13 of us staying for a hen party and we had plenty of space to have fun filled, unforgettable weekend, thank you South Wing!

Fantastic holiday property

My family all had a fantastic time at the property. The large number of spacious rooms meant the different age groups could split up and do their own thing, without bothering each other. It was one of the coldest weekends of the year, so the heating was pushed to its limits in an effort to keep the house warm. It was overall a memorable birthday weekend.

Excellent property and location for a family stay.

The property is excellent for a large family to make a base to visit the various resorts and places of interest which are all nearby. The accommodation has everything you need and plenty of space for a large family and is excellent for children. The property is central to the village with good shops and pubs.

A happy place.

We were celebrating my wife's birthday by bringing our two daughters and their families together, without the responsibilities of hosting at home. Twelve in all. The entrance hall confirms that our hopes for the holiday is bang-on. As my wife and I venture within there was a warm feeling that the whole wing was going to be just perfect. Quirky and idiosyncratic mixed with comfort and style. Small but adequate Kitchen, the luxury of space in the TV room, Dining room, and entertainment room, not to forget the hall for the younger children. The garden is really great, a good flat lawn for rounders, and a well maintained terraced shrubbery, while away under the trees there is a nature habitat. We had a great holiday which was well facilitated by the house. My only regret was we didn't get to play hide and seek of the adults against the children starting in the dining room and disappearing through the special window that secretly opens out at floor level. We did use it for the barBQ. What a place for a murder mystery weekend.

A beautiful property in a great location.

We have just spent a long weekend in this lovely old house. Nine adults and five children aged 8, 2 and three under 2. Although a little chilly when we first arrived the property soon warmed up and for somewhere with such vast rooms was surprisingly cosy. There was room to run around for the little ones without fear of them hurting themselves or damaging anything which was a huge bonus for all of us, and lots of toys and games which were very much appreciated and played with. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the range oven was perfect for cooking a roast chicken dinner for us all, even having somewhere to warm the plates! The owners very kindly left us a welcome pack of basics such as bacon, bread, milk, butter and wine. The beds were comfortable and had good quality whits bed linen with thick feather duvets. The soft, fluffy white towels and ample bathrooms for everyone were also appreciated. Everywhere was extremely clean. We didn't go out and about much as the weather wasn't brilliant but a trip to Flamborough Head blew the cobwebs away and gave us some dramatic scenery and some sunshine. We will certainly consider using this property again for similar family breaks in the future. The extensive grounds will be ideal for the little ones to play out during the summer and the sun terrace looked very appealing for warm days. Just one little observation, the piano was out of tune but we played it anyway.

Wonderful House

We stayed at South Wing to celebrate a 60th birthday, there were 10 adults in our party. The house is VERY large, but very comfortable and warm.We had an exceptional stay there is plenty of room and VERY clean. Filey is a short drive away and anyone that enjoys afternoon teas I would recommend The Lighthouse. Hunmanby village is a 2minute walk where you can find Pubs, Butchers, Post office, Boots the chemist, Chinese takeaway, tea room and a deli. You can walk to Hunmanby gap which is a very nice walk about 2.5 miles. Hope to return.

Clare's 40th Birthday

We have just returned home after a weekend of celebrations for my daughter Clare's 40th Birthday. Fifteen of us in family ranging from 3 years to 67 years. We all had a wonderful time, the boys really made good use of the garden and played football until dusk every evening, they just didn't want to come in. The weather was kind to us and we adults were also able to enjoy the garden on Saturday afternoon, tea on the terrace - perfect!!! We all loved the get together in the drawing room every evening, without the intrusion of a television. Several bottles of wine for the adults made it perfect. We did think when we arrived that the younger members of the family could possibly find the size a bit daunting but we need not have worried they all settled in immediately and really enjoyed the space. We are all planning a return visit for our next big celebration. Mary and Family

A fantastic house

We had a brilliant weekend at South Wing. There were 15 female family members aged from 18 -83 and the house exceeded all our expectations. It is much larger than we expected and we felt as though we were staying in a stately home. The furnishings and everything in the house are of a very good quality. The gardens are beautiful and we would love to come again to experience the house in the summer. There was a very acceptable welcome basket and great attention to detail. Andrew was very quick to answer any questions before we came and the visitors book is testimony to the pleasure this house has given to lots of people. We will definitely be back.

Mi familia y yo compramos South Wing en febrero de 2008 para usarla como casa de vacaciones. Disfrutamos compartirla con huéspedes y ofrece un punto de partida excelente para explorar la costa y el campo de North Yorkshire. Mi esposa es oriunda de Scarborough y somos visitantes fieles a esta parte estupenda del país. Tengo tres hijos que les encanta quedarse en South Wing y regularmente invitan a sus amigos acompañarles. Tienen más espacio aquí que en casa y mucho que hacer en las cercanías. Muchos de nuestros huéspedes son visitantes fieles que disfrutan el sentimiento acogedor de South Wing y la oportunidad de pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos en un ambiente muy cómodo y relajado. Es obvio que sea un poco parcial, ¡pero South Wing es un lugar maravilloso para descansar!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Mi esposa es oriunda de Scarborough y tenemos muchos amigos y familia en el área. Puedo trabajar desde cualquier lugar; por lo tanto, pasamos mucho tiempo aquí durante las vacaciones de nuestros hijos. Además de los amigos locales, lo más atractivo es la casa en sí. Es un buen gran lugar para estar porque es suficientemente grande para acomodarnos con comodidad y sin tropezar. Pasamos mucho tiempo en la playa, si el tiempo lo permite, y nuestros hijos prácticamente viven con sus trajes de buceo puestos durante el verano (¡el agua es fría!). Me gusta el ciclismo y los Wolds son perfectos para el ciclismo en carretera, mientras que el bosque de Dalby es el sueño de cualquier entusiasta de la bicicleta de montaña. Hay mucho para todos y si tienen mal tiempo, es la excusa perfecta para quedarse en la casa, encender la chimenea y relajarse.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Quedarse en South Wing le ofrece muchos beneficios. Si le gusta estar en forma, hay un campo de golf de 9 hoyos y cuatro canchas de tenis justo afuera que están disponibles mediante pago por uso. Además, hay un gimnasio bien equipado que se puede inscribir semanalmente. El centro del pueblo está a dos minutos a pie y bien atendido con tiendas, peluquerías, médicos y dentistas, además de un restaurante excelente de pescado y papas fritas y varios bares buenos. South Wing es gigante con casi 6000 m² de espacio. A pesar de ser cómodo y acogedor y ofrecer mucho espacio para reunirse, hay mucho espacio para retirarse solo.
