Bradley Cross Farm, Shepherds Cottage

En lo alto de las colinas de Mendip, se encuentra una cabaña de piedra en una granja en funcionamiento, con impresionantes vistas sobre los niveles de Somerset. La cabaña fue construida alrededor de 1850 y anteriormente estaba ocupada por el pastor local que pastaba sus ovejas en esta área de las colinas de Mendip. Hoy en día, la tierra está pastada por las razas tradicionales de ganado bovino Longhorn y ovejas de cuerno de Wiltshire, muy adecuadas para el manejo de los pastizales naturales en la granja. Cheddar Gorge, sitio de especial interés científico, se encuentra al norte de la granja y Mascalls 'Wood, un antiguo bosque, se encuentra al oeste. El pueblo de Cheddar y las tiendas locales están a una distancia de aproximadamente 1 milla de la cabaña. Ideal para caminantes y cerca del Camino Mendip.

My son and I had a super stay in the cottage during a two-day visit to the Avalon marches for birding. We were warmly welcomed by Judy and Paul and their friendly dogs and, despite the blustery, wet weather when we arrived, were very warm and cosy inside. The kitchen is well equiped and the shower lovely and hot. Woodburner lovely to come back to after a day out. Magnificant views over cheddar. Would love to stay again.

Nice cottage

We had a lovely time in this cottage. It's cozy and has all the simple amenities one will need. The family that runs it is lovely and told us all about their farm and the surrounding land.

Brilliant views

A thoroughly enjoyable stay, in a great location. Eating breakfast looking out over Cheddar was wonderful. A nice small property, great hosts with good communication. Will be visiting again!

We had an amazing stay at Bradley Cross Farm. The owners was very lovely and very helpful and their 2 dogs are super friendly too. Highly recommend if you like a bit of an adventure but looking for a very quiet place to stay.

Has everything that needed for a stay over. The hosts are great, Paul's down to earth and likes a little banter, and Judy is very friendly. Excellent location for Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole!

Cosy, compact property overlooking Cheddar and the Somerset Levels. We found the property to be ideal for our short stay with excellent walking direct from the cottage. Paul and Judy were very helpful and made us welcome, helping with any info required. The farm dogs (Meg & Tess) were friendly and interacted well with our dog (Ralph). My advice would be to ensure you thoroughly read the directions to find the property, and your vehicle needs a degree of power to navigate the route to the cottage. However once reached the views are stunning from this small, quirky but comfortable property

A lovely place

I can highly recommend this lovely cottage. Amazing views, extremely clean and the owners are very nice. We had everything we needed in the cottage and had a great few days.

Short Break

Last minute booking, the hosts were great and very responsive to our request to bring 2 dogs. Perfect little cottage for dogs, had all the amenities you need and very well located. The area is very dog friendly and we would not hesitate to return.

Perfect!

I had everything you could need (apart from no oven ). Bathroom had a lovely shower. Nice to sit down with a fire.

Outstanding view

A great little place for a short stay. Has everything you need. About a mile and a half from Cheddar Village. Great walks, though the walk back is very steep. Fantastic hosts and two gorgeous dogs. Really enjoyed our stay.

Judy & Paul farm Traditional breeds of cattle and sheep on the Mendip Hills, an dedicated Area of Outstanding Beauty. We are a County Wildlife Site so protect the flora and fauna with our livestock management practices. Specifically we protect the natural habitat for Greater Horseshoe Bats, Barn Owls and Doormice. We grow our own vegetables, produce our own jams, chutneys, eggs and honey from our own bee hives. We also source organic wine from France.

Judy and Paul bought Bradley Cross Farm for it's position close to Cheddar and the idyllic views over the Somerset Levels. It was a place to further pursue our interests in Rare Breed cattle and sheep.

The property is secluded but at the same time within easy reach of the village of Cheddar
