Elissa, we are very sorry you discovered there was dog hair. It reinforces our decision to get rid of the rugs. We ask people to put covers on the couch. We have discovered some breeds have some really tough vacuum resistant shedding! Since your review we have paid extra attention, thank you. The lake has it's own mind some years murky, some years not as much. I am glad you all had fun though!

Thank you for your review Elisa. Because of construction delays, the kitchen renovation was finished literally the day before your stay. We are so sorry that we completely missed some details. • The air conditioner is now in the bedroom window. As we mentioned we ran out of time to install it before your arrival. • We completely forgot to install the slider screen. • Worst, of course, was the mouse issue and dog piles. We've not had an issue with mice and can only chalk it up to the reno - it is most definitely taken care of now - we just hate that we didn't notice it prior to your stay. • As I mentioned, the ants were from the fresh flowers - with peonies comes ants! We haven't seen any since we removed the fresh flowers. Your review has reminded us we need to do a walkthrough of the yard prior to guest arrival to make sure the neighbor dog hasn't visited. I am glad you were comfortable enough to request extending your stay at the cottage beyond the scheduled check out. We also appreciated the nice notes you and your friends left.

This review is beyond unfair. We have never encountered a guest with these concerns. I am addressing them below. If you have ANY concerns about the information please contact us. I guarantee you will not have the concerns this person notes. 1. We thoroughly clean the cottage after every stay 2. Our drive is muddy in spring. We have parking right across the street (less than 500 ft from the cottage.) 3. We meet our guests and go through the space to make sure everyone is comfortable as we did with this guest. 4. The bathroom trim is installed and was off only briefly to remove an appliance. (I explained this and she was fine with it. ) 5. The refund policy is included in our listing. Please understand hosts like us are opening up our homes and dedicating time so your stay is pleasant. 6. Deposits are returned quickly. Again, please contact us directly with any concerns.

We are very sorry to read this and wish we could have been contacted during your stay. Even though I met early so you could start your vacation sooner I was instantly greeted with unhappiness that there were steps to get down to the water, the deck was hot, etc. I knew, for the first time, it wasn't a good fit and I made sure I left our numbers so we could answer any concerns. Since this is our first year renting our cottage we are learning with each visit. We always ask for and appreciate all ideas and feedback. Night lights and dish racks are items we do not use personally but they are very small items that we will pick up if they will increase our guests comfort. We were surprised there were dirty dishes left for us and if providing a dish rack will help reduce our cleaning time it can help keep the cost affordable by not having to implement cleaning fees. We keep large flashlights under the sink. Along with providing condiments, paper products, spices, linens, towels and the gas for the grill at this time, items do get used up or moved. We are sometimes unaware until we go to use them ourselves if guests don’t leave us a note or return them to their places. It's the nature of a rental we have been learning to live with! The smoke alarm that was not hooked up was an extra that had not been installed yet. There is another smoke alarm just outside the bedroom. We tested the sliding door that goes onto the deck, when slammed it did lock behind us and until it is replaced we will caution others - thank you for making us aware of it. As mentioned in all postings and prior to your stay, the water in the cottage is well water. Many people are not accustomed and we always provide gallons of drinking water. Our next phase of updates is to install an on-demand water heater and water softener. Lastly, as other guests stated, they and their kids, swam in the water, as does our family. Mother nature rules on the lake. If only she could control the rain, heat, mosquitos and seaweed! We wish you the best in future stays elsewhere.

Thank you, Brett. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We haven't had much time there yet this year to clean the sea weed. Hopefully next year it will be clearer and the young one may feel more comfortable swimming. It's true it is more of a fishing lake but when we are able to clear it many kids enjoy swimming and the tubes. So glad you caught some fish too!
