Maruggio is a small town famous for its figs, with supermarkets and a picturesque food market on Wednesdays. The nearest seaside village is Campomarino with crystal clear sea, quartz sand beaches and juniper scented dunes. The sea offers interesting excursions for snorkeling and fishing. The near chilly underground river Chidro, close to San Pietro, emerges at 200 meters from the coastline. Over there offshore, it's possible to admire, for the diving enthusiasts, the cargo of a Roman ship sunk around the third century AD. This is one of the many examples of the pure water springs of the Puglia. Another famous spot is Porto Selvaggio green, further South.
Cimarra Estate is located 40 km from Brindisi airport and 40 km from Taranto where the A14 Bari-Taranto Highway ends. The MARTA, museum in Taranto, is one of the most important archeological museums in Italy, established in 1887, is located inside the convent of Alcantarini (XVIII century) in the Umbertino quarter of the city.
