The area was great, Grocery stores less than 5 minutes away. a whole strip of food. it wasn’t to far from some activities. Beach access was maybe 6 minutes away. The host, Sandra, Replied in a timely manner. I barely messaged her. there were no problems what so ever. Would definitely stay there again!!

Nice Neighborhood / Great View

We really enjoyed our stay here. The home as well furnished and has a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean from the living room / balcony. The sofa and chair on the balcony are very inviting and a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Check in and check out was very easy with clearly written instructions. I would stay here again.

Great location and wonderful views!

Such a great place! Balcony has great view of ocean and unit has a convenient location. From the balcony you can see the wave caps on the ocean and we even got to see the tall ships returing to dock after the Marine festival. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would absolutely come back. Only downside to mention is the description of 3rd bed in the living room is inaccurate as it is broken with signage to not use it. Otherwise a great place with good communication from the host in how to avoid any issues with the appliances and neighbors!

Thank you for the great review. We do have the sofa bed available at all times in living room which equals the sleeping for 6. The queen Murphy bed was broken by renters. It is a fourth bed but not included in our listing , cannot be used because we don’t want injury.

Dana Pt Loved It!

The home was exactly as displayed, lovely inside and the view was extremely nice. We live in Irvine but chose this home rather than The Cliffs. Best Decision Ever! We were there for my son's wedding and could not have been happier with the home and location, surprised to discover it was right around the corner from the church! Total Win!

Great home base for exploring Orange County

We had a lovely low-key stay in the Kellys' apartment in Dana Point. Sandra was very responsive in all of our dealings and check in/check out went smoothly. The unit was just as represented in the photos. It is somewhat sparsely furnished, but clean, with two full baths, extremely comfortable beds, a washer and dryer that was handy, and a kitchen that had everything we needed for making breakfasts and re-heating some restaurant leftovers! It was perfectly fine for our needs (spring break with two teenagers.) It might not be fancy enough if you were planning to host guests for a formal holiday meal. As others have noted, this is a top floor unit in a quiet, residential neighborhood, with easy parking in the driveway and on street if a second spot is necessary. There is a new house being built a few doors down, at the top of the canyon, so there is some typical construction noise M-F, 8-5, as of mid-April 2017, but we were out of the house most days enjoying the beach, etc., and the noise was not a problem. The view from the deck is indeed lovely and restful; it was fun to listen to and watch the birds and other critters in the canyon. The unit is up on the hillside (hence the great view) and looked too far/steep for us to walk to town/beach with towels, etc. with our middle-aged creaky knees, so we did not attempt, but parking in Dana Point was plentiful. The location has easy access to I-5 and Pacific Coast Highway; Disney was only 30 minutes away (at 6:30 am on a weekday) and the Mission at San Juan Capistrano was only 5 minutes away. All in all, this was a great, affordable option for our spring break getaway!

A beautiful month in Dana,

Coming from Australia, we stayed in this lovely Dana Property with killer views for all of August 2018! Sandra's place is very convenient to all Dana has to offer. The house is spacious and airy, there is an AC in the living room which we never felt the need to put on. It is a very quiet neighborhood, although there were a few renovations/building going on in the area so sometimes got woken by building noise, however this would be temporary as it is just a one of. Loved, loved loved the master bed, one of the most comfy beds we have slept on. Bathroom facilities were great. The only thing I would suggest is maybe a chest of drawers in the main bedroom, this is probably not much of an issue for visitors on short stays, but for a month if would make storage a little easier, and suit cases could be put away, however, this is a minor problem. The kitchen is large and very convenient, we made our own breakfast and lunches most days there, for dinner we went out to many many different restaurants in the area, although we did have friends over for dinner a few nights, and was easily able to seat 6 people. Our fave restaurants in the area are Trevor at the Tracks (SJC), Jimmy Famous, Hennessy's, Brio, depending how relaxed or high brow you wanted to go. For the best coffee in Dana Point ..Crank and Grind, Karen (an Aussie) makes the BEST COFFEE, Aussie style! Oh! And being ones to exercise getting up the hill is great exercise, but we enjoyed going down to the Marina for the 119 stairs , and the stairs through Heritage Park, great for burning off the calories from all the great Dana Point indulgences! Overall, a wonderful place to stay,! Thanks Sandy! See you again soon I hope!

Spacious with no frills!

I found myself looking for a rental in Dana Point at the last minute. I spoke with the owner of this rental, who at the time, seemed very accommodating to me and my pet. She even waived the pet fee! Nice of her, so I thought! I was booked in and had paid for 5 weeks upfront! If I was able to get my money back, I would have left this place the day after arriving! This is when I started to notice that things were not up to standard. Mainly the cleanliness of the rental. I am in no way OCD in cleanliness, however I have rented other properties in Dana Point and never had these issues. The kitchen- the garbage cans had dried spills on the inside/outside. The fridge was not thoroughly wiped down inside. The cupboards had dried spills on them. The stovetop was not wiped and the kicker was the oven. It was disgusting. Bathroom-hair behind the toilet, scrum stains on the sliding doors of the shower. The second bedroom had a thick layer of dust on the ceiling fan in the second bdrm. I informed the owner of these things, perhaps to maybe check on her cleaning company. The reply was unbelievable. "The oven may be dirty inside, it self cleans!! I spent $$$ powerwashing the patio and windows." What does that have to do with anything? "And I did waive the pet fee, so I hope that would help" "If you want I can see if the cleaning company can come back, then you have to remove your cat" These were sent through email. She did not call me once in my entire stay, 5 weeks, to see if things were okay! So basically she waived the cat fee because the place was not professionally cleaned! On the day of my arrival, starting to unpack. The dressers, where are the dressers? There is not one dresser in either room. I guess I'll just throw my socks on the floor in the closet then? There were things not in the rental, that were listed on site. The second bed is like sleeping on a rock. The furniture itself is so gawdy. In my opinion there was no thought put into this rental to make you feel like you living at home! I can say that, because now I am in a rental that is vastly different than this one. For those that have already booked, hopefully your experience may be different, since you can't get a refund, as there is no refund for cancellations. For those who have a bit more time, which I did not, I suggest you look at different sites, take your time. The two things that are correct about this rental is the space and the view.

Sometimes you try your best and still cannot satisfy a small minority which is Karen. She came last minute with a cat which we never do. She was desperate and I relented. Big mistake. As you can see we have vibrant rental at capacity for the next 5 months and have rented on other sites for 4 years. The furnishings were new then and the photos are accurate. She was by herself so I am unsure why she is complaining of sleeping in other than master on second bed, but no one else have ever complained. I waived pet fee and offered to send the professional cleaner back but told her the cat would have to be removed so it would not get lost for goodness sake. I think she wanted an additional discount but I gave her a break on the rent and waived the pet fee and offered to have the cleaner come back out, but none of it was good enough so trying to rectify her complaints many of which were truly minor was never going to be good enough --only more money back so take this review with a grain of salt and contact me and I can give returning renters for references.

Amazing Location and View

We stayed here for a wedding in Dana Point and this was in the perfect location just minutes from a lot of shopping, restaurants etc. The home is very clean with plenty of room to accommodate my parents and wife. Check-in/out was smooth and we had no issues with any of the amenities. The balcony has a great view of the ocean and is well shaded in the afternoons. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Good but Great

Dishwasher did not work, house was extremely hot inside upon arrival , furniture was worn in living room. Request to start laundry is not something we experienced at other vacation rentals. We would stay again but feel owners could update with very little effort.

Really clean and well equipped. Very close to beach and this property has a partial, nice view of the ocean. More for adults. The condo is a bit dated but it was a nice stay.

FALSE AD, WORST OWNER EVER, NO PARKING, DO NOT BOTHER

Property was dirty and not updated in any way. Ceiling was cracking and peeling, furniture was old and looked like it came from a dumpster diving expedition! The house boasts of newness, but upon arrival, we found a sign stating do not open cupboards as they are broken. That cupboard was one of the beds we needed for our registered guest to sleep. So we were shorted sleeping arrangements for our stay. Both the owner and property manager are so very unprofessional and will try to pin on you, damage caused by either other renters, weather, or significant time. Thankfully, I work in property management and know to take before and after pictures, so I have proof of no damage created by my family. Owner is trying to currently charge us for a weathered outside table at a rate OVER 1500$. Could be purchased at IKEA for considerably less. In addition, the house is not a single family home. It is a 2 plex, in a very noisy location, with absolutely NO Parking. There is a unit directly below our unit, and the owner/renter of that unit has a not very friendly and persistently barking dog. The person below was constantly complaining to the owner & manager of our noise levels, even when we had only the registered guests in the unit (and not the additional family of 10-15 people). Her text message at that time read, "Geez you are all so inconsiderate. A sign announcing an illegal party. Were you born in a barn." The sign was from the church service, however when we attempted to reply, we were "blocked" by her. Not very mature or professional. Concerned by the multiple text messages and extremely RUDE & HOSTILE voice message left by both the owner and property manager, we had to relocate my daughter and her family to a local hotel. So our visit, which was to have a service for my father who recently passed away was absolutely ruined by the owner, manager and person below our unit. The complaints were over a supposed huge party we had. We had approximately 10-15 people in the house for a small (unplanned) after funeral service "gathering" of close family. We sang "Happy Birthday" as my father would have turned 89 on that day. All family (except the registered child and my daughter and husband) were over the age of 50!!! Definitely not a party of any type. Just intimate family gathering sharing stories of my father's life. Absolutely Awful Experience!

She got into trouble for having 50 guests and a sign announcing a party. We clearly post no party as our local city does not allow. She was asked repeatedly to dismiss other than registered guests and started ignoring us. We reported her to VRBO. She is awful and you can see by pics we do not dumpster dive for our furniture so consider her excuses and the source. She is banned from renting.

It was a great stay, a couple issues though.

1) They code to get in was for the lock box not the actual door itself. 2) Cable/local TV was not provided, only streaming services. If you’re big on CNN, local news, even the Emmies, you’re out of luck. Besides these things everything was great.
