Great location and nice pool

This Casa has a fantastic pool and all the basics needed for a perfect Tulum experience. Owner and manager are attentive and rental procedures are easy. It is walking distance to the main road with many good restaurants. We rented bikes for the week and enjoyed every moment in Tulum and Casa Kanuk! PIerre

Great place!

We stayed in the upstairs one bedroom unit. Loved the neighborhood location, walking distance to central tulum. Good for biking. Loved the pool!! No complaints at all. Great stay. We will be back!! Thank you!

VERY FAST RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS!

We decided to stay in another location so we did not actually book this property, but they were so FAST and RESPONSIVE to our questions that they deserve a positive review. IF staying in Tullum, you should consider this property!

Home away from home

Casa Kanuk was wonderful! The house was clean, air conditioned, the bed was comfortable and the pool was so refreshing. Bill and Lanna, the property managers, went above and beyond to answer all my questions before the trip and even took my daughter and I to a local pizza place the night we arrived after dark. Casa Kanuk is a short walk to town or you can walk up the street and catch a taxi if you prefer. I loved being in a real neighborhood of locals who couldn't have been nicer. It felt much more authentic than staying in a resort. When we return to Tulum I will definitely stay at Casa Kanuk.

Great Location-Safe-Well run/organized

The owners have really done a nice job and it shows in the attention to detail. We lacked for nothing. Lee/Kaylan had a really nice book that laid out all the best of the best of Tulum. His and hers insight of the area attractions and best spots to go was really a big help in entertainment as well culinary adventures. Really decent people who enjoy life and are great hosts. Just about the best vacation I've ever had! There was/is a Truck Park for food about 3 minute walk and the food was incredibly awesome as well cheap! You could search a long time to beat this property at this price!

Dream Vacation!

We had a wonderful time in Tulum. Such a fantastic city with so much to explore and such wonderful people. Bill and Lana were wonderful. They picked us up at the ADO bus station (very simple 2 hr bus ride from Cancun) and escorted us to Casa Kanuk. The property was wonderful. The pics don't even begin to show how wonderful the property is! Very clean and spacious, wonderful swimming pool, nicely lit, and fantastic location. We were able to rent bikes and a scooter to go to the beach every day. The hospitality by Bill was out of this world! He wrote to check in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay, and was always available to give suggestions and directions if needed. We absolutely loved the property and hope to be back to visit again! Thank you so much for everything. Completely unforgettable :)

The location of Casa Kanuk is perfect. We walked to downtown every day after enjoying the pool. The location is 5+ stars. However... Casa Kanuk lacks some essential items..... lounge chairs by the pool for sun bathing. Only 2 available chairs by the pool. No lounge chairs. No adult pool floatation.... loungers or tubes. Patio area had no seating except picnic table and hammock. The pool needed to be cleaned every morning. The bedding was old and well used. Pillows were terrible. Only one blanket that was a woven scratchy quilt. No seating in bedroom or living area except for a very worn couch in living area. Shower was a trickle and barely warm. A/C was great. Also, it would have been nice to have a welcome basket with coffee for the first morning. In conclusion I am not sure we would stay here again. Location is great. Otherwise just ok.

Relaxing and perfectly located

This was the beginning half of our first-ever family vacation to the Yucatan Peninsula. Since the second half would be in a gargantuan time-share resort, we decided to rent something more low-key to get more of a feel for this part of Mexico. Casa Kanuk is ideally located just a few blocks from the main drag in the town of Tulum. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and if you just want to chill the owner has created an oasis in the back yard with a shaded seating area and a large swimming pool. If you want to explore town the Casa is an easy 5 minute walk to several excellent (and very inexpensive) restaurants. Tacos al Pastor at La Chiapanecas are not to be missed. A longer walk (about 1 km) takes you to a sort of mid-town restaurant/bar area with great food options and places with live entertainment nightly. Anything beyond town, such as the ruins, Playa Tulum, or the local cenotes are easily reached by collectivo or cab. For further excursions like Playa del Carmen or Chichen Itza I recommend renting a car. The upper level of Casa Kanuk is spacious and very well lit with large windows, a sliding glass door to a private patio overlooking the pool, and a huge sundeck on the roof. The bedroom is large with a comfy Queen size bed and if you have small children there are two sofas in the front living room. The large kitchen and fridge allowed us to load up on food and drinks so we could eat-in and drink poolside. Lee was the perfect host as he was available with answers and advice anytime. We will definitely return to his place on our next visit.

Casa Kanuk

The house was great. Lee and his team went above and beyond. From the welcome drinks and fruit to Esteban telling us everything about Tulum, it was really a great vacation. The house is great, the only thing I would change in the television in the living room. It’s very small so watching it from the couch is bothersome. The only other option is to watch it from the desk chair which puts you entirely too close. My next complaint in regards to the house would be the street. Theres a neighbor that has a rooster which crows at the crack of dawn every morning. The whole point of my vacation was to turn off my alarm clocks as my days are constantly run by a schedule. The rooster didn’t help. If it wasn’t the roosters it was the non stop barking of dogs. No matter what time of the day it was, there were dogs barking. The pool is amazing rather at night or during the day. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make meals or margaritas. Or even have your private chef cook for you. The internet was fast and reliable. A/C was cold as described (although it did go out in the bedroom the last night we were there) wasn’t really an issue, there was a nice breeze so we opened the patio doors. The bathroom could use a new shower head and I’m not sure the last time the glass tiles were cleaned. There was soap scum on them prior to us using the shower. We just simply scrubbed them before we used it. Could just be an oversight by the cleaners. Towels were readily available although wash clothes were not (I typically pack my own) but forgot this time around Ultimately it was a great house that was close to everything. So many restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Taxis range depending on where you go and you’ll never get the same price twice. All in all, great house!

Terrific home base !

We rented the one bedroom unit for a 10 day stay in Tulum. We are in our late 50's and had a rental car. Had We not had a rental car the location would have been more difficult for us, being as only the walkable places( for us in the heat, and distance wise) was Palma Central ( the AWESOME food truck park with a large bar) and 1 or 2 small Bodega type stores to grab some limes and other limited produce or snacks. The property manager, Paul and his girlfriend were occupying the 2 bedroom lower unit and could not have been nicer or more accommodating.! They had answers for just about any questions about the Tulum and surrounding areas that we came up with. The booklet they'd put together in the apartment was also very helpful and informative, including tips on local restaurants, attractions, things to do, best places to rent bikes, cars etc. It also included info on nearby Laundry service which was very Inexpensive whivh we'd planned to use to have all of our clothing done before we packed to go home, but didn't end up having to because we GROSSLY overpacked, and pretty much lived in a couple pairs of shorts each,& swimsuits with a shirt cover and a couple sundresses. However, If a family were staying there and had a lot of Laundry THAT would defenitly be a bonus worth using!! The apartment itself was great! Good AC ( very important to me coming from the very dry climate if Colorado, U.S.A.) FULL sized refrigerator to keep plenty of food and drinks in. Everything worked in kitchen and was well stocked with dishes etc. There were plenty of outlets throughout the apartment as well as some usb ports. The WIFI was EXCELLENT within the apartment, but kept cutting in and out at the pool with our Bluetooth speaker, with my phone right next to it (no biggy💁‍♀️) It is a located in a very quiet residential area, so even if you prefer windows open at night you should sleep well. The mattress was comfy, and appeared to be fairly new. The 2 pillows provided were flat and uncomfortable. That is the only real complaint we had! We'd planned to go to one of the local Walmart style stores and pick up a couple inexpensive ones,but were so busy visiting ruins,cenotes& beaches that we never got around to it. (a first world problem we managed to live through, 🙄lol!) I would suggest the owner provide at least 2 good pillows per person though. The pool was FANTASTIC! Late night swims were no problem and they had some floaty rafts to sunbathe on in the pool.👍🥰

Fabulous

The professionalism and kindness of both the owner and property manager was first class. The location of the Casa is perfect for walking anywhere in Tulum town. The pool and air conditioners were fantastic. Full size refrigerator, blender, and coffee maker was all we used regarding the kitchen. There are just too many places to eat for any budget close by. We rented a car and there is parking directly in front of the Casa. Safe, real deal Mexican neighborhood. Would book again. Mark and Marilyn K. 02/16/19 thru 02/23/19.

Enjoyed my stay

If you are looking for a luxury laden get away in Tulum, this is not it. But if you want the expierence of living smack dab in the middle of a Mexican/Mayan neighborhood and truly feel what it is like to live in Tulum. The pool is clean and wonderful. Lizards and birds all around. But you will hear radio, babies crying, and people talking. All part of it. The house come complete with a dog, El Guapo, who has adopted the house and greets you every time you leave or return. Truly a sweetheart. The house is in close proximity to a Food truck venue. One block away. Not what you imagine on your stay in Tulum? But it is truly a great expierence. It is a wonderful venue, with a great vibe. Hamburgers, pizza, chicken wings, coffee, and a complete bar. Each and every vendor is just happy to see you there. Also close to Manglar pizza, Raw Love, with a bamboo structure you need to see to believe . A seafood restaurant El Camello, All within 10 minutes walking distance. 2 blocks away is a convience store that has just about all you need to exist while staying at this house. I rented the upstairs, one bedroom apartment. It had everything i needed, clean, and the bed was very comfortable, never felt unsafe. The apartment has not one, but two split units that will keep you cool. One in the bedroom and one in the living/kitchen area. Mr Bailey, the manager, was thoughtful and attentive. Contacted me before i left with loads of info and met me on my night of arrival and got me to the apartment in the dead of night. It is a bit off the beaten track. So glad he did. If I could recomend a place for breakfast, and this was purely by accident, and it was wonderful, is Del Cielo in town. MMMMM!. If you rent here. Enjoy your stay. I think you will

Fantastic oasis but still close to everything.

Space and pool were fantastic & Bill/Lanna gave us all the information we needed to get started exploring the Tulum area. Great location in neighborhood & short walk to stores to re-stock ice/drinks/etc & short walk to lots of great food/nightlife options. Would absolutely stay here again when we return.

Owning a casa near a Caribbean beach has been a fantasy of ours since high school. Now, we can proudly say we are living our dream. We searched and researched where to build our casa. Once we visited Tulum, we knew instantly that we had found our place, and within weeks we returned to buy a piece of land and begin our Caribbean adventure.

We designed Casa Kanuk ourselves and were involved every step of the way. We hope you like what we came up with. While others are building outside of town — in what can only be described as developing "suburbs" — we wanted to be a part of the original community. We chose our location so we could experience the authentic Mexico and Mayan Riviera (not the suburban lifestyle we are accustomed to at our Canadian home). But, most of all, we wished to be able to walk to get our morning coffee or grab baked goods and fruit from the local market without it being an inconvenience.

Casa Kanuk puts you within walking distance of everything Tulum pueblo has to offer. Walk or bike to the town's restaurants, shops and bars. And, when you do want to go to the beach, you'll find taxis just at the end of the street or on the nearby main avenue.

Other features that make Casa Kanuk stand out are the pool and patios. You'll find yourself outdoors lots, so we made sure the pool is actually large enough for exercise and socializing. And, with a spacious patio and a sunset rooftop, you may just not want to leave the house.
