Great place with a few changes.

The property management sent a message stating we "may" be able to check in early if the room is ready, we arrived one hour early and noboby was in the condo but they would not allow us in until the check in time. We reported a loose toilet seat and broken lamp shade that were never addressed. The pool, beach, and views were fantastic. If you are looking for a non commercialized area with small crowds, it's ideal. The condo was clean and updated, the beds were as comfortable as any we've ever slept in, and the privacy was great.

Best place to rent in Madeira Beach

We have been vacationing in Madeira Beach off and on for the past 25 years. This is by far the nicest property and best location ever. The unit was recently totally remodeled and it is beautiful. You feel like you are in your own home- not a vacation rental. The decor is beautiful and there are tasteful decorations throughout. The kitchen is well-stocked, the furnishings are comfortable, there are plenty of hangars, and the outside furniture is comfortable and ample. The noise level on the 9th floor is perfect. Lots of wave sounds and very little occasional beach noise. The vibe of the complex was very relaxed and friendly and without the owner vs renter attitudes you can sometimes encounter in the common areas. The pool area is well-furnished with chairs and there was no saving of chairs to contend with. Nearby, walkable shopping and restaurants are plentiful. The VRBO management company was very responsive and easy to work with and even helped us out with an unusual request.

Almost Too Pretty To Rent Out

OUTSTANDING! All new furniture. Wonderful interior design: perfect mixture between elegance and beach vibe. Almost too pretty too rent out. Two-thumbs up to the designer. Excellent view and access to the beach. The condo grounds and facility is very well maintained. They have an outstanding maintenance/grounds person(s). Caution: the lady from the condo office (adjacent to garage) who distributes the parking pass has a terrible personality. Just be aware.

Disappointing

We liked the location and the layout. We stayed 12 days and never got a parking spot. The unit had not been maintained since constructed. Most of the doors were warped and stuck. All the appliances and fixtures were original. Noisy dishwasher. Faucet had been installed with h/c backwards and been that way for 30-40 years and no one had taken the maybe 45 minutes to fix them. Pealing paper and corrosion on bath walls. Sliding patio door took both hands to move it. I could go on and on. So not worth what we paid for it. Bruce Bostian

The management at the condo harassed everybody staying there every person you talk to is going through the same thing they harass everybody staying there they lock people in the pool every night at 11 the key fobs don't work after 11 older people being forced to jump the fence to get out of the pool younger people can climb the fence to get out but still it should never be locked at 11 there should be a way to get out of the pool they harass everybody about parking spots they give you a parking spot to park in and then somebody shows up that owns that spot and then they start harassing you for parking there moving you all around it's just ridiculous also the manager of the complex actually ask my wife to put back a seashell she picked up off of the ground that's how crazy the manager is at .that complex it's a shame that the management at that Condo Association is ruining the building would never stay there again if it was free for that reason.

Upgrading Required

Potential renters beware. I recently rented this vacation beach property through VRBO and the unit was run down and dirty which was not apparent by the pictures represented on their internet site. The vinyl floor in the entry area and kitchen was worn, dirty, and had holes in it. The majority of the fluorescent kitchen lights did not work because they were old and worn out and a kitchen cabinet door was broken and repaired improperly. The dining room and living room rug was stained and dirty. The living room chairs and sofas were stained, dirty, and discolored. Two out of the four master bathroom ceiling lights did not work. The master bedroom king size bed frame was broken which caused the bed to sag tremendously in the middle. And worst of all we found bugs in the bedsheets the first morning when making the bed in the morning. I do not live in a such a despicable environment at home and I certainly don’t expect to do so in a vacation rental property where a very large sum of money was paid. When VRBO was contacted they were able to fix the lights in the master bathroom and replace the bedframe. But all of the other issues required additional repairing/replacement/cleaning after we vacated the unit. VRBO offered to refund approximately 13% of the total amount we paid for the unit but only if I agreed to sign what is actually a Non-Disclosure Document disguised with a title of “Refund Agreement and General Release Form”. A “Quid Pro Quo” arrangement. VRBO will provide a nominal refund for our total silence on the condition and issues we encountered on this property they rented to us.

Not happy

Only one key fob. Fob gets you in & out of the pool, pool bathroom & beach. If anyone wants to come down late, they can’t get in or out without that fob. The Wi-fi password they gave us was wrong. Took 3 days for US to figure it out. No help from ANY of the contacts here. Lot of lights burns out. 1 burner on the stove doesn’t work. Stove is from the early 70’s. Rest of the places is too. No salt & pepper, coffee filters, paper plates, dishwasher soap, hand soap etc. that most places have a little on site to get stared with. I’ve stayed at much better places in this building.

The Management Company Vacation Rental Pros is Incompetent

The unit is spacious and in a good location. The balcony is comfortable and the sunsets are fantastic. The unit is dated and could use some upgrades and a good couch cleaning. For next to nothing, the owners could supply pool towels (as all other rentals do) and stock the kitchen with workable kitchen tools from the dollar store. We had to buy a colander but left it. There isn't enough cutlery, no dish rack or a workable corkscrew (little things that could be remedied inexpensively). It was not nearly as well stocked or maintained as all other VRBO units we've rented. Would stay at this property again but not this unit. Management company is awful. We arrived at the office. 3 hours after check-in time and were told we couldn't get the keys for another 40 min. because the inspector hadn't returned them (3.5 hrs after check-in). This was unacceptable so we were finally given the "master" key told 2nd set would be delivered that evening or the next morning. The next day, I called the office 4 times, left messages and sent 3 e-mails inquiring about the keys. On our 4th day, we finally received an e-mail telling us a message had been left advising us that we could pick up the keys at their office. The phone in the unit didn't have voicemail and we advised in all documentation that we wouldn't have a cell phone and to contact us by e-mail or on the unit phone. (I returned home to Toronto to 2 phone messages regarding the keys...not likely to get those messages.) After all this, management expected us to be inconvenienced and get the keys at their office. Since it was the incompetence of the management company that prevented us from getting both sets of keys at check-in, they should have been delivered. We finally got the 2nd set late on the 4th day after having spent a great amount of our vacation time trying to contact someone. A few days later, the bathroom light bulb burned out. As advised in the contract e-mail, we e-mailed maintenance that we required it to be repaired so we could use the bathroom. I sent 3 e-mails, called 3 times but no replies. Finally, after 3 days, we were told someone would come that day. At check-out no one even asked about our stay. They just don't care. The owners should seriously reconsider using this management company. We've rented through VRBO numerous times and have never had any negative experiences until this rental and company. After this experience, we will never rent any property from Vacation Rental Pros again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Weather was fantastic, condo needs new appliances, the fridge quit on us, therefore causing us to loose food that was purchased after we arrived, it was replaced while we were there, the stove needs updated. Not sure we will return to this condo. The company said they were going to reimburse us for the food that was lost, gave them an amount, have not received it. Enjoyed Cody's,

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo could use some updating. The stove and the toaster oven were filthy. Matresses need to be changed. No hot water in one of the sinks in master bath. The lounge chair on the balcony is full of mold. We had a some lights go out and could not find the circuit breaker panel for quite some time. Finally found it, it had a big picture covering it. Not a good place for a picture!!! Rugs need to be professionally cleaned.

Family vacation - Relaxing on the beach

Highrise and Happy Times

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The soft blue motif of the condo was a perfect introduction to our splendid view of the gulf. Although we were on the ninth floor, we felt an immediate connection with the natural beauty and refreshing sounds of the waves. Check-in went very smoothly. We just picked up our keys from the Cat Box and let ourselves into our vacation spaces. We found everything clean, convenient, and inviting. The large living-dining-kitchen-entry made an excellent hub for all of our activities. We drove from our home in Indiana while our life-time friends drove from North Carolina. We enjoyed the space of our separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Although the owner had left her car in our designated parking place, we had no problem with parking both cars in a most convenient place near the front entry. All of the appliances worked well although we did call the staff to replace one heating element on the stove. The right front element had been pulled out of its place and left hanging awkwardly on the stove top. But that was soon corrected. The location was perfect for our purposes. We walked a couple of miles on the beach every morning and sometimes in the evening. After a couple of days in the museums and gardens in St. Petersburg, we ventured out to Sarasota and Apollo Beach. We found great places to eat and always came "home" to comfort and serenity. Favorite restaurants included 4th Street Shrimp Store and Fred Peters Smoked Fish. The Dali Museum was first rate and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens were superb.

Carefree family vacation

Nice but needs kitchen updated.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit was in a perfect location and the views were beautiful. The kitchen is very dated. The appliances were very old and needed to be replaced. The dishwasher did a very poor job and dishes usually came out of dishwasher dirty. One of the burners on the stove is broken. The towels needed to be replaced. Most of them had stains and some were threadbare. The TV in the second bedroom didn't work. All these things you would find in a low rate place and Ocean Sands certainly is not low rate. We did have issues with the hot water, internet and leak in the master bath and they were dealt with very quickly which we appreciated. The building is well maintained and clean. Livingroom is very nice.

Great stay but some updates needed

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We recently stayed in Ocean Sands Tower 1 Unit 908. We had a great overall stay however there were a few things needing updates. First the positives, the unit was clean and the building itself was very nice. The living room furnishings and the beds were both very comfortable. The balcony was wonderful and had an amazing view. The pool and hot tub were very clean and inviting. We had an issue with the wireless when we checked in however the realty company quickly resolved and called back to maker sure it was taken care of. They were great to work with. We also liked that there is an assigned parking space for each unit. The dining area furniture was a bit dated and the kitchen appliances were also dated but functional. The dishes/cookware and utensils need an overhaul. We found one pan we would use and mainly used paper plates for eating. We would stay again but probably bring some of our own cookware/utensils.

Our Experience

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have many years of rental experience in Florida, including several years at Madeira Beach.This was clearly our least satisfying experience.The unit was poorly equiped and in great need of updating. For the cost, one would expect much higher quality.
