We strive to have all of the comforts of home in our condo and devote time each of our trips to maintaining our place and making upgrades for ourselves and our guests. Hi Melanie, Thank you very much for your comments. We are continuing to make upgrades in our unit to make sure it is well maintained for us and our guests. We really love being on the ground floor with easy and quick access to the water and the sun deck where enjoy joining guests and owners to enjoy the incredible sunsets.

Thank you so much for the positive review and five star rating. We love the location of our condo with its easy access to everything, especially the water. Each time we visit we spend time performing maintenance and making updates, although we have not photographed and posted the recent improvements. Our appliances are newer than shown in the photos. In January 2019 we replaced the microwave and drapes. We have upgraded our refrigerator to a stainless French door model with an automatic ice maker and water in the door. We love the convenience of having ice readily available and easy access to refrigerated items. We have also replaced the kitchen faucet and dishwasher within the last couple of years with more updated stainless models. We are always open to suggestions for improvements from our guests to keep our unit well maintained for them. Next time we are there we will get some new photos. We are glad you felt at home and we hope to welcome you back the next time you visit Bonaire.

Thanks for the nice review Tracy. We are glad you loved our condo. It does take a few minutes to walk to the dive shop but we hope you agree that walking along the water and seeing the sea life makes for a pleasurable experience. The dive shop also provides wagons to transport gear. Thanks for your comments and we hope we have the opportunity to host your next visit.

Thanks for the positive review, Virginia. We agree that the location of our condo is ideal. Close enough to town for a nice morning walk along the oceanfront and within walking distance of many nice restaurants, yet a peaceful and relaxing spot to enjoy the sun and water. Thanks for commenting on the comfort of the bed too. The mattress topper provides a feeling of sleeping in a cloud and is very restful. We are glad you enjoyed your vacation and hope you come back and stay in our place again.

I strive to respond to guest questions quickly and provide as little or as much communication as each guest requests. Your daily routine sounds like you fell in love with Bonaire and Sand Dollar. We too have met so many friendly people at Sand Dollar. It is certainly a wonderful destination for divers and non-divers as well. I enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to hosting your next stay.

I am Mitzi, owner and host, and would like to address the comments made in this review. The swimming pool which is available for use by Sand Dollar guests is owned and managed by the owners of Eddy’s Restaurant. SD staff and owners are disappointed with the declining condition of the pool and management has pushed for improvements. Just 6 days before the arrival of this reviewer, I was emailed a picture of the pool with clear water and new lounge chairs and I forwarded this information and picture to our guest. Since this is no longer a reliable representation of the condition of the pool, I have removed any mention of the pool as an amenity from my listing. As far as the shower drain, I have been assured the drains are checked prior to each check in and I plan to also install a drain wig to catch hair as most clogs, including the one just removed, tend to be from hair and sand. The drain issue is not unique to our unit and Sand Dollar owners have approved funds to replace pipes and drains where needed. The bed is a queen. This is the first complaint. The mattress has an egg crate topper which is enclosed in a zippered cover with the mattress pad placed over it. We, along with most of our guests, think it makes the bed pretty comfy but I can see that someone who prefers a firm bed may not like it as well. The topper can be removed for a firmer sleeping experience. The new couch just purchased in 2022 is very firm but not meant for sleeping on nightly. As far as the oven is concerned, it was just installed in October 2021. Due to the pandemic, at that time, was one of the last units available on the island for purchase. It is a little confusing at first as the dials have pictures and the temperatures are in Celsius. To help guests I made an instruction sheet and temperature conversion chart which should be included in the welcome packet guests receive at check in. As far as the comments about our kitchen, not to worry, we are having it gutted, and thanks to the new layout, we will have more cabinets and drawers and outlets along with more countertop space and new backsplash tile. The project plan was finalized in March and construction is scheduled to start in September with completion expected in October. We are excited to see this major and most recent upgrade come to life! I hope my response has cleared up any concerns. Our priority, along with the SD staff, is to keep our condo well maintained for us and our guests.

Hi Dianna, Thanks for your thoughtful review of your recent stay at Sand Dollar. We are happy that you loved our unit and will make sure we add some more bed pillows for future guests. The location of our unit is as you described on the quieter end of the complex which has the advantage of being away from any noise of the dive tank filling area and Den Laman Restaurant but just a few minute waterfront walk or short swim or snorkel to the small sandy beach. We are sorry you were disappointed by the pool area. I have checked with the owners of the restaurant about allowing guests to bring in their own food and drinks while using the pool area. The restaurant hours have changed to 6-10 pm and they do not have a problem with pool guests bringing in food and drinks during the times they are closed. Of course guests are expected to keep the area clean of any garbage created and to avoid bringing in any glass. Sand Dollar has really nice oceanfront sundecks. One is just 75 yards from our patio with comfortable chaise lounge chairs and is perfect for relaxing and watching the sunsets. There is a staircase to the water for a swim and an outdoor fresh water shower to rinse off. The sundeck and expansive oceanfront are two of our our favorite things about Sand Dollar.
