Great location, poorly maintained property

Beautiful view and a short walk to the beach. Checking was confusing. Claims to accommodate 12 people but it did not. There are only 3 chairs on the deck. Chairs inside are broken and felt unsafe to sit in.

Not worth the money

The property has a lot of potential but needs serious updating! The pictures advertised look much better than in person. The beds are all pretty hard and uncomfortable. House can sleep over 10+ people but only have 2 chairs on the porch. No grill available for cooking. The kitchen has very little pots and pans. I feel it is over priced for what you get! The pros to the place is that the AC works great, the water pressure is 10/10, and the location is great. It was an okay stay but more than likely wouldnt stay there again!

Positives: - proximity to the beach was wonderful; - great water pressure; - having 3 bathrooms worked well for our family; - never ran out of hot water Negatives: - the pillows and mattresses were awful--very uncomfortable; - the upstairs air-conditioning was barely operational so bedrooms were hot and sticky; - there were no working towel bars/rings in one of the upstairs bathrooms; - wi-fi was sporadically available and entirely unreliable; - kitchen was not well-equipped for making meals in-house; - there was no way to store leftovers--there appeared to be lids for storage containers but they didn't fit any of the available bowls.

Overall our experience was nice. Our biggest complaint with this property is that it is not correctly represented in the Vrbo listing. The house is much more outdated and rougher that the pictures listed. There is no back yard, the exterior needs updating (post railings and stairs need repairs), outdoor furniture was not the same as in pictures and not very comfortable, interior walls have water damage and need new paint. But the beach access was closer than the picture depicted which was great! All linens were clean and packaged individually for each room prior to arriving. The home was also very spacious and we had plenty of room for our family.

Needs some care.

Several things needed repair or mounted back on wall. Storage downstairs needed serious purging of broken and useless items. Several broken chairs were thrown under stair. Overpriced for quality of space.

Great location

We had a great time with friends in Oak Island. The house needs a few things repaired but overall loved the location. Kitchen was pretty stocked with the essentials and the shower downstairs was perfect for coming off of the beach.

Not happy here at all

Stayed here 7/8/17 - 7/15/17 Pros: Easy access to the beach. Plenty of hot water for all of us to take showers at same time. Loved the shower under house when coming straight in from beach. Close by shopping and restaurants. Pretty well stocked kitchen. TV's in all bedrooms and in living room. However, DVR in l/r was not working. Cons: Kitchen- some of cabinet doors were broken. Rear deck door - does not slide well at all. Could not close curtains at nighttime. Leg was broken on one of the tall chairs outside. Cigarettee butt can was full when we checked in. Upstairs bedroom -was not vacuumed. Bugs and trash on floor. TV in bedroom on right upstairs is messed up. If you move or nudge it, it stops working. Bathroom- Hand towel rack is barely hanging on. Holes left were old rack was also. Shower liner needs to be replaced. Upstairs toilet had to hold down handle. Sometimes the shower was stopped up. Downstair small bedroom - No closet. No where to hang your clothes. Had to leave in suitcase on floor the whole week. Mattress rattled like paper when you moved around. King bedroom downstairs - No room in closet to store your stuff. There looked like there was computer equipment in there. Also some old fan equipment stuff was laying on the floor. Mattress was very hard. Living Room - Microwave sitting on floor. According to the reviews in their guest book at this house, it has been sitting there for years. Since the l/r is small, if the microwave was moved, it would give your guest more room to store their stuff. Could not get the DVR to work. We were very disappointed in our stay here at this vacation house. We will not stay here or use Better Beach Rentals in the future. In fact, we left a day early. This would be a good place if someone would just fix all the repairs here. It needs a lot of TLC. Peggy R. Garner, NC

Needs some attention.....

Overall, it was a pleasant stay here, though it was smaller that it appeared in the photos. We had 8 people, so it was a bit crowded, but we were all family so not a major problem. Wind and surf are beautiful, all the time! Kitchen was well equipped. Downstairs bathroom tub was a curved tub so a bit hard to handle in the shower, no flat floor and one of our party had an injured foot, so had to be cautious. Beds were okay; appreciate the furnished linens. Back and front stairs need some repair and/or reinforcement; several felt like they might break.

Description of this house is exaggerated and misleading.

The description has TVs in each bedroom and cable. While each bedroom had a television, none of them had a cable box. The only TV with cable is in the living area. The guest book has the same comment dating back from Summer of 2016. This would indicate owner/management are aware and continue to advertise fully functioning TVs in each bedroom. Also, one of the main floor bedrooms has no closet and no dresser and the mattress/foundation are very loud ( most likely due to the cardboard on the foundation). The other main floor bedroom has a closet but no dresser or anything else for storing your belongings. The sofa sits very low and is difficult to rise from a sitting position. The general cleanliness of the house was decent except for the three large bugs ( dead) found in the master bedroom and the living area. I have rented in the Oak Island area through VRBO directly from an owner with a terrific experience in the past. Would not rent from this management company in the future.
