Secluded, high on a knoll, our home offers majestic treetop views of the sunrise over Pigeon Hill Bay and Petit Manan Lighthouse.
The full kitchen offers everything required to prepare meals. A small breakfast bar with two stools allows an easy place to oversee the family chef in action; just off from the breakfast bar is the dining area with four seats and a great view of the bay.
The cottage offers two bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, and a spacious living room divided by a perfect nesting place to enjoy a good book or simply relax while glancing at the bay. The living room offers new furniture for your comfort.
The house also boasts an enclosed front porch with rocking chairs. It’s perfect for that morning coffee with peaceful, breathtaking views of the bay, the lighthouse and an array of birds including eagles, seagulls, hawks and sea ducks. Outside has a fire pit with plenty of firewood and chairs to sit around and enjoy. Outdoor games, too!.
"Chipman's Wharf" offers haddock, steamer clams, fresh picked lobster meat and much more. Purchase cooked lobsters and keep hot in your own cooler until dinner time! They are located in the neighboring town of Milbridge.
Plan the day with a hike! Our cottage is centrally located for a great Two-Fer; we have Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge to the right, and Pigeon Hill Preserve to the left! Both easily within walking distance or they each have a parking area if you prefer to drive (short two minute drive). The two trails are great for easy walking or hiking. The wildlife refuge is a great place for bird watching; it is not uncommon to have the place to yourself, and in August there are low bush blueberries for picking.
Take a day trip to explore one of the nation's most beloved parks, Acadia
National Park. Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island is approximately an hour drive from Wind Rose Cottage. Acadia at Schoodic Peninsula is a shorter drive, approximately 40 minutes. Both offer hiking trails through the forest or rocky shorelines. Bar Harbor hosts many restaurants and shops; a great place to spend the day.
