Located in the charming community of Harbert we welcome you to Sunset Shores Cottage! This amazing home has EVERYTHING you could ask for in a vacation rental. Just steps away (100 yards or less) from the largest beach in Harbor Country as well as having your own private heated pool and two hot tubs! Stand-alone hot tub open year-round! Lake views from many parts of the house as well. Sit under the stars and roast s'mores in your outdoor firepit or cook on your gas and/or charcoal grill.

Sunset Shores House sits on an acre of land so lots of room to move, even a swing set for the kids. Have your morning coffee or meals in your all-season sunroom overlooking the pool/hot tub. Your chefs in the family will love the fully stocked kitchen with Wolf gas-burning stove. Cozy up to the gas fireplace in your lovely family room. Three floors of living in this Harbert charmer. The second floor has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with two twin beds (bunks) both with an en suite baths. The main floor has one bedroom with a king bed (full bathroom in hall). The finished basement has one bedroom with two queen beds and en suite bathroom as well as an additional TV room.

All the amenities you would expect in a quality rental including private heated pool, two hot tubs, outdoor firepit, internet, cable, fireplace, washer/dryer, central AC/heat, sunroom, gas/charcoal grills, swing set and much more!

We had an amazing time. The location is wonderful - steps from the beach, a wooded lot, gorgeous pool. The house was comfortable and cozy. Loved the large kitchen and fireplace. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

A fantastic place to get away at the end of the season. Spacious bedrooms and plenty of areas for two families (plus) to gather and enjoy. The cottage was nestled into what felt like a beautiful forest just across from beach access. The outdoor fire pit, jacuzzi, and heated pool were wonderful. Host was very responsive and thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Thank you!

We had the best weekend at this home. It was the perfect location for us being halfway between Lost Dunes and New Buffalo. There is so much to do in the area. We hiked, shopped, ate out, got coffee and more. There is so much to do and see in the area. The house was a stones throw from the stairs to the beach. The pool was gorgeous. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to stay again.

Peaceful Retreat

We have been to this area five times now and loved our stay at this cottage. The location was perfect with beautiful views of the lake. There was plenty of room for our family to spread out. The cottage was very well stocked with amenities, board games, etc. We look forward to returning!

We loved everything about our stay in this property! Beautiful and cozy home with lots of common spaces to spread out. Also really nice that each bedroom has its own bathroom. Water views and proximity to awesome beach can’t be beat!! Would rent this property again in a heartbeat!!

Our family had a fantastic time staying here! Extremely clean, ton of ammeties, super close to the beach (2 minute walk to the water), awesome views, close to state parks, and great location for walks and runs. The owner is very quick in responding to emails. Seriously can't ask for a better experience!

Great beach access & amazing pool!

This was our first Vrbo! I wasn’t sure what to expect entirely, but we had an amazing time. The pool was the star of the trip. We swam even on the colder days, since the pool is kept nice and warm. The parking lot for beach access is literally steps from the house. It made taking my 3 & 6 yr old so much easier since we didn’t need to pack up the car.

Great location

Everything about the home was perfect for our family. Closest we’ve ever stayed to the beach. Quiet neighborhood with fun trails for little ones. Plenty of games in the home and good Wi-Fi if you need it for work/school. ** if you are staying several days you will need to bring your own paper towels, laundry soap, etc as there is only enough for a couple of days.

Lakehouse vaca w/all the amenities and comforts of home

Great escape for a fun-filled week! Provided comforts of home and yet felt like we were 1000's of miles from home at an island resort. Didnt lack for anything. The property owners really considered a family stay w/toys, books, a swingset, pool floaties & towels, huge firepit w/plenty of chairs, a big gas grill & outdoor shower to wash off beach sand. The pool w/built-in hottub were amazing!! And another hottub for adults just outside the pool. The convenience of walking to the beach was an added bonus. We LUV'D our stay!!

Beautiful well maintained cozy property in fabulous location

It was a rainy cold November weekend, but we had a marvelous time enjoying the fireplace, hot tub , beautiful kitchen and cozy bedrooms in this lovely home. It has wonderful spaces to hang with friends and just enjoy each other's company. The screened in porch was magical - with the heater on -we puzzled there all day. What a beautiful view of the forest from there. The hot tub was perfect and the communication with the property management company was seamless. We can't wait to stay again at Sunset Shores Cottage. We walked to the antique store down the street and had so much fun finding great deals there!

Perfection

Beautiful home inside and out with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The beach is a staircase away! The pool and hot tub were clean, comfortable, and oh so relaxing! Enough space for everyone to spread out. My kids loved the swingset and played every morning and evening. TV on the main floor was very small for the size of the room, especially when gathering in the kitchen/front room. Other than that, no complaints! We will be back!

This house and location are absolutely gorgeous! My kids named it the fairy house when we pulled up and couldn’t believe how large it was on the inside. The bedroom/bathroom combos are great for everyone having their private space. House was very clean and we enjoyed all levels including the beautiful yard! The upper level has a fabulous sitting area where you can view the lake and hear it when the window is open. Staff were very responsive in replying to emails and answering questions. We are looking forward to another trip next year! ❤️ Harbour county!!

Pool week

WE loved the property and the pool. They were both clean and accessible. The house was lovely and the layout was perfect for our family! We were disappointed by the fact that the lake was not only across the road but through a very busy township parking lot access with lots of activity. The listing made it appear there is a path down to the lake but there was a stairway with 60 steps which was the public access. We still enjoyed the lake but weren’t happy about the distance. The listing should explain this better. The property has a small view of the lake but is not a lake front property.. There were beach chairs and some toys for the beach and pool. We didn’t know that and brought some of our own. Love the area! The pool was wonderful and had great steps for toddlers to play on. Spent lots of the week swimming in the pool!

Sunset Shores Cottage Family Vacation

Our stay at Sunset Shores Cottage was very comfortable. The cottage is across the road from Cherry Beach which although public is limited by the number of parking spots available. The pool and hot tub were a bonus and were used daily. Loved the outdoor shower. The house itself had an adequate number of rooms, bathrooms and open spaces for our group of 10 ( 7 adults and 3 grandchildren ages 2, 6 and 8). We enjoyed dinners on the enclosed porch facing a beautiful yard. The kitchen had a nice supply of dishes, utensils, etc. In fact the cabinets were so full of kitchen “stuff” that there was minimal space to store our week of provisions. Plenty of beach towels and beach chairs ( albeit some a little moldy and old). We were informed of this before we “moved-in” but based on the cost of the rental we would have expected the house to be provided with adequate dishwasher detergent (1 tab), laundry soap , paper towel (1) and toilet paper/bathroom (2 rolls/bathroom for 7 days). Thanks to the owners for letting us share their home.

Larger than it looks

Positives - the pool is large and impressive. The sunset view from front porch is great. To have a home with walkable beach location and pool, in this part of michigan, is rare. The management company was super responsive, even over July 4 holiday. They replaced old frying pans and cleared tub drains within 24 hours of my request. Very impressive. The house has 4 bedrooms but the upstairs bedrooms have huge closets that double as play rooms / nurseries. We have a 7 month old and we were able to get a pack & play into our closet which is a big plus. Our 10 year old son didn’t want to share the bunk room with girl cousins, so he pulled a mattress into our other closet. This flexibility of sleeping arrangements was key. Areas for possible improvement - this is picky: the house is 3 levels and on 1 zone for hvac. Either the basement will be an ice box or the top floor will be a bit warm. I felt bad freezing out our basement occupants so we could have a cold night upstairs (we like cold bedrooms at night), so it was a bit warmer than I’d like at night. We probably should have just opened windows, in retrospect.

We enjoyed our stay very much. You have a very nice rental. Having the pool would have been a bonus. We really liked having the beach a few hundred yards from the house. The walk up the steps was a lot of exercise. Capazio’s was a excellent restaurant for Italian food.

Beautiful and Comfortable

This was a great house for our family (two parents, two kids, two grandparents) to gather for a long thanksgiving break. The house was well-stocked and had everything we needed and more. There were several super comfy living spaces and plenty of areas to enjoy the outdoors (climate controlled and not!). The kitchen was pretty great to cook in, too. I highly recommend this property and we’d return in a heartbeat!

Incredible home for a fall trip with friends and kids

The house was incredible - perfectly clean, well stocked, cozy, in a great location. We had a great time and enjoyed all the comforts of the house. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental. Everything was immaculate upon arrival and communication was easy and timely. We had 4 adults and two 2 year olds and there was more than enough space. Kids toys and books as well as the swing set and slide made the stay even better. We spent a ton of time out in the 3 season room and it's even better than the pictures show. We loved our stay and would definitely go back.

Perfect little escape!

Our week long escape room this cabin in the woods by the beach was perfect. We had everything we needed to keep to ourselves, relax and unwind, reconnect together. Those sunsets were amazing!
