Located in the sleepy community of Harbert, we welcome you to Cottonwood Cottage! This five bedroom, 4.5 bath home sits on over half an acre on a woodsy private lot. Cottonwood Cottage boasts almost 3,600 square feet of living so there is plenty of room both inside and out for your group to kick back and relax. Roast s'mores under the stars in your outdoor firepit or soak your worries away in your private hot tub! The three-season screened-in porch is perfect for that morning cup of coffee while listening to the sounds of nature. For those fall/winter rentals, cozy up to the wood-burning fireplace. Just a short distance away from Cherry beach as well as a fifteen-minute walk to Harbert Beach. Close to everything Harbor Country has to offer as well. The cooks in your group will appreciate the fully stocked kitchen too! The kids will love the outdoor swing set & playhouse as well as plenty of board games too for kids of ALL ages!

Main floor features a master bedroom with king bed and en suite full bathroom. Second bedroom with king bed and en suite bathroom. Third bedroom has queen bed. Fourth bedroom bunk room great for larger family. Two sets of bunk beds with twin/full beds and one set of bunk beds with two twins. In addition to the four bedrooms on main floor there is a spacious and private en suite with sitting area and full bathroom with one king and two twin beds.

Newly updated garage converted to game room! Enjoy ping pong, foosball, and TV with video game system! Now with a Deadpool pinball machine (no coins needed!).

Family retreat

Cottonwood cottage was a delightful place for our family to gather - close to the beach and set in the woods. We had the best of both worlds. The rooms were soundproof and with two families, there was space to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, the sheets and towels were high quality and everything was clean!! We hope to repeat our lovely visit to this wonderful vacation spot.

2025 Michigan Golf Outing

Everyone had a great time. The house had a perfect arrangement for our group is seniors. Wish the house had keyless entry., We plan to book next year same time.

Great place for large groups

We stayed here with our family of six, plus four of my family members. The layout was great for so many people. We enjoyed walking to the beach, using the hot tub, and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.Everything was very clean and many convenience were provided. The kitchen is very well stocked and it was easy to cook our meals.My only suggestion: if you plan on using the dishwasher, bring extra pods because only 2 or 3 are provided.

Huge house

If you're looking for a place to get together with a large group, this is perfect. There were nine in our group and everyone had their own bed with more to spare. Lot's of great social space as well. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent place!

This place appears exactly as advertised. It was so very spacious for us four couples that stayed. You can easily all hang out together as a group in the common areas, or you can escape to any bedroom to have privacy. The place is very easy to get to and surrounded by a lot of different activities one can enjoy. We will definitely plan to be back again sometime!

Perfect Family Getaway

This property was perfect for a family of 12. Very spacious and fully equipped for a family who likes to cook together. Walking distance to a very private beach. Close to Union Pier and New Buffalo and Sawyer. We will be back!

A perfect spot for a family gathering!

The Cottonwood Cottage was even better than expected for my husband's 75th birthday celebration. It had wonderful common area and bedrooms to accommodate the whole family. The outdoor space, including the playground was perfect for the young grandkids and the teenagers (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub! Another highlight was being walking distance from the Swedish Bakery! The whole family agreed the weekend was wonderful!

Great house with nice amenities

Overall great house with nice amenities. The house was big with large bedrooms and common areas. It was great that 3 of the bedrooms had bathrooms connected to them. They also provided beach towels and some beach gear to borrow while we were there which was awesome! the The play set was great for our kids. It was close to Harbert beach, a park with a nice shaded playground, and warren dunes state park. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent home with great amenities

This house was great. We think we have found our new annual vacation home! The owners have done an amazing job furnishing the place with everything you need for a large family gathering, including plenty of linens and beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella, a full sized crib, games for adults and kids, kid/baby books and some toys. They have an amazing game room for older kids (adults too)! Oh, and plenty of Roku ready TVs, if you need a movie night. Outside our kids played on the play structure a lot. Super clean and sturdy. We enjoyed time in the hot tub and it was clean when we arrived and serviced during our stay. The outdoor fire pit and grill were both great and got a lot of use. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, including knives that were actually sharp!! The location is excellent. We have been going to the Swedish bakery for over 40 years and being a stones throw away was a “treat”. With the new bike/walking path along the Red Arrow from almost Nee Buffalo to almost Warren Dunes we rented bikes and easily rode wherever ever we wanted to go. Thank you for the great stay. We will book again!

Good for Large Gathering

Good sleeping accommodations and living space for a group of 13. The den off the living room is a hidden gem. The fire pit and hot tub were good outside spaces. Kitchen was a bit small for preparing meals, but there was plenty of room to sit and eat. Beach access is 3/4 mile down Harbert Road. It's an easy bike ride or there are a few parking spaces. The Harbert Swedish Bakery is a minute walk and recommended for morning pastries. Many good bike routes to Sawyer, Union Pier or New Buffalo.

Wonderful, spacious property!

House felt even bigger than we expected (and was so perfect for our 3-generation, 11 person group!). So many spaces to enjoy together—-and to spread out. Having so many bathrooms was very convenient, the hot tub and fire pit were great, and the short walk to Luisa’s bakery was appreciated by all. Loved having a crib for our infant and plenty of infant/toddler toys. Highly recommend! Great location for enjoying New Buffalo/Union Pier/Sawyer/Three Oaks/Warren Dunes (Harbert!) etc. We loved walking or driving to Harbert and Cherry St beaches; really preferred them to the New Buffalo public beach. So peaceful! Anyway—beautiful property!

Family Time Away

We loved the location in a very quiet setting. There was ample space for our family of 7. We loved the screened in porch. The house smelled amazing but I gave cleanliness a 4 because it didn’t look like the kitchen floor had been mopped. However, my kitchen floor needs mopped all the time. 😂 It wasn’t ideal for my one year old grandson because of the steps down to the living areas. They are not easily noticeable if you aren’t paying attention you can walk right off of them. My husband and grandson both fell, but thankfully weren’t hurt too badly. Being able to walk to the Swedish Bakery was amazing! We will have great memories from our time there.

Family vacation

Nice property, spacious, but has problems. We swept the floors first thing when coming in. We saw the mouse traps in several locations and within a few hours saw mice in the middle of the kitchen floor. We had 6 small children and one infant and we did not want them on the floor as we were finding mouse dropping. We pulled out the stove and found where they were coming in and plugged the hole, swept up an enormous amount of mouse poop. The room off the main living room was thick with mold smell. We left the door shut and didnt use that area. Also, tub/shower in one bath was leaking in such a way we were afraid to use it that, it would cause damage.

Nice Home!

Enjoyed our stay, thank you! Good; communication with Blue Fish, plenty of bedrooms/beds and beach towels, washer & dryer, outdoor grill, fire pit, finished garage game room, ample seating/eating areas, Harbert Beach, and 2-3 min walk to Harbert Swedish Bakery! Not so good: our family arrived at 5PM check-in time, but had to wait a bit as cleaning crew was still inside. Screened porch has a lot of dead bugs, leaves, and cob webs. Had ants on kitchen counter (right side) of sink we had to spray and wipe down (never saw them after that), fan in hall bathroom didn’t work so made for very humid showers, broken cabinet door below kitchen sink (only a minor issue). Walk to Harbert beach is 15-20 mins, but recommend driving and getting there by mid-morning for a parking spot in the summer. Especially on the weekends of course. Overall, nice home and quiet with wooded surroundings. Recommend they provide travel size shampoos and Kleenex and at least 1 liquid hand soap in the kitchen and at least wash those porch screens and porch screen doors off.

First Family Vacation

Everyone polled (7 adults) would have given this property between a 3.5-4.5 rating. I think an overall 4 is fair. Aside from 7 adults, we had 4 kids ages 1 - 3.5. This was our first family vacation we took together and we’d consider coming back to this house/area in the future. Pros: -Lots of space -Swing set for kids -Off the beaten path so kids can run around -Lots of bathrooms and bedrooms -Great communication with management company -Stocked kitchen (pots and pans, dishes, cups) -Cherry Beach was very clean and clear water and easy to get to -Garage converted into game room was really cool Cons: -The floors were dirty. A 1 year old was on the floor for less than 2 minutes and her hands and feet were covered in dirt. -Lots of daddy long legs inside and cobwebs. This may be unavoidable due to the wooded area. -Had some temp control issues. It was really cold when we arrived and we could never quite get it right. It was often too chilly during the day and then too hot to sleep with blankets (in some rooms) at night.

Beautiful property!

Absolutely beautiful property for our large family gathering. Well equipped, very updated and beautifully decorated. We would highly recommend. The hot tub was a plus and all enjoyed the fireplace. The two refrigerators were extremely helpful.

70th Birthday Gathering

We had a wonderful weekend…more than enough room for 8 adults and three kids, 2-7 years old…house is beautiful and very well maintained and stocked and plenty to do for family fun on the area!

Great house for a beach vacation with friends

Two families with small children and could have fit a third family easily. Beautiful home with great space to gather and for the kids to play. Everything felt updated and new. The location is great as well. The walk to the beach would be long with small children, but the beach was not crowded and we were able to get parking each time. It’s a quick walk to the Swedish Bakery for coffee/breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back.
