Wonga - A secluded oasis in the heart of Parkes

Wonga has been our beautiful home for the past 7 years and while we are off on an adventure we are offering it for others to enjoy.

Built in 1860, it was one of the original homes in the area. Established gardens surround the house. Covering nearly 6000m2, there is plenty of space to walk around the garden with a glass of champagne in hand. The pool area is a delight and will provide many hours of entertainment.

Host was very helpful. Beds extremely comfortable. A wonderful peaceful environment for a country break. Loved exploring the property and enjoying the Beautiful garden filled with birds and bees. Plenty of parking. Perhaps a few more comfortable portable outdoor chairs as the church pews and benches are gorgeous vintage furniture but they are not comfortable. Perhaps a note on the listing for tenants to BYO outdoor chairs. I would definetley stay again.

WOW what a retreat

This property is huge. The grounds are stunning. The house has all you could need, including a pool. The host - James goes above and beyond if needed. I highly recommend this property. There is alot of room and amazing facilities. The air conditioning is awesome too.

A beautiful home and gardens

Our family had a great stay at this home for the week leading up to my wedding. A warm house with plenty of rooms and space for my family to spend the week together and beautiful gardens that I was able to get a few wedding photos in.

Nice old house in large garden setting

Wonga was a great base for our cycling holiday. 6 bedrooms suited us well, although several of the bedrooms require access from another bedroom.

Awesome visit - just what we needed. A charming house with great gardens to unwind and relax. Totally secluded but within walking distance to town centre and close to Showgrounds which was a great place to walk the dog! Thanks James for offering any assistance needed!

Old world charm

Great apportunity to immerse yourself in the hustory of Parkes. Extensive garden and spacious house. Care should be taken with uneven flooring for elderly or young. Great for large family gathering with outdoor eating and pool if weather appealing. House was clean and more then comfortable for our stay. Good communication with owner who was more than happy to provide details on how to make our stay more comfortable.

Abba Festival long weekend

Had a wonderful stay. Enjoyed the strolls in the garden and the hidden treasures with each twist and turn of the paths. When rain threatened and fell on our first night we could still enjoy drinks and BBQ under the back deck and wide verandas. Owner and cleaner communications and help pre-visit were fabulous. Great to have basics like salt and pepper, garbage bags and olive oil in stock. (Missing were dishwasher tablets). If we return for the festival in a couple of years, we will very happily book Wonga again!

We recently stayed at this property and wanted to share some honest feedback, particularly as the host mentioned they are currently training a new cleaner.Unfortunately, we encountered several cleanliness issues upon arrival. The bathrooms were not clean, including the toilets, the kitchen sink area hadn’t been properly wiped down, and some of the bedding appeared unwashed. The pool was also not cleaned before our arrival—we had to purchase a pool scoop ourselves to make it usable.Another concern was that the cleaner entered the property on Saturday evening while we were out for dinner. We hadn’t been informed that anyone would be accessing the house during our stay, which was unexpected and felt like an invasion of privacy.I’ve contacted the host directly and also sent photos for reference, but I haven’t received a response yet. Hopefully, this feedback will be helpful as they continue to train the new cleaner and improve the overall experience.The property has a lot of potential, and with some attention to cleanliness and communication, it could be a great option for future guests.

Eclectic property

A gracious old family home resonating with personal touches, art, antiques and family treasures. The modern appliances including sound systems in every room made our stay entertaining and intriguing. If a quite read is your choice there is a full library for all ages and subjects Importantly beds and linen were of high quality and cleanliness of the home was without fault. The gardens were mature and filled with fresh fruit and glorious flowering plants with bees and dragonflies Our host was most accomodating for a change of stay due to floods in nearby areas. A five star experience

beautiful haven filled with lovely things

such a gorgeous house and garden. we loved our stay, it was very comfortable and the garden was just divine. More information about the property and its history as well a how to use guide would have been helpful. Also while the house sleeps 12 it is more suitable to families than a group of friends due to the layout of the rooms and bathrooms. That said it was perfect for the five of us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. James was very happy to answer questions and was very helpful, generous and lovely to deal with.

Gorgeous home

We had a fantastic time staying at this property. Our children are 11, 7 and 7 and spent all of the time that we were there in the garden exploring with our dogs while we relaxed by the inside heater.
