LAKE LURE WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR RECREATIONAL BOATING, FISHING, OR SWIMMING IN THE 2025 SEASON. Although the lake is closed and lowered while Hurricane Helene cleanup continues, there is much that our beautiful foothills area has to offer. LAKE ADGER, LAKE LANIER, SHUMONT LAKE, and MIRROR LAKE suffered no damage, so homes and those lakes are available. BALD MOUNTAIN LAKE in the resort is open and beautiful. We are welcoming guests in over 60 beautiful homes to use as a "home base" for visiting nearby towns, restaurants, shops, hiking areas, and seasonal special events in Lake Lure, Hendersonville, Asheville, Black Mountain, Saluda, and Tryon. Golf is open to the public at Rumbling Bald, and local area wineries, breweries, trails, and music are within an hour's drive. Many of the Chimney Rock shops are set up at the Tryon International Equestrian Center Pavilion. Chimney Rock Park is now open!

Welcome to Catahoula Cabin! Surrounded by lovely hardwoods and tucked away on the hills of Lake Lure, this cabin is perfect for anyone looking to get away for a bit and connect. From the moment you enter the log cabin, you’re welcomed into a soothing environment that will put you into that vacation mindset.
The main level features a kitchen with a gas range, a dining table that seats 6, a conveniently located half bath, a living room with high ceilings and gas logs, and a TV. This level also offers a bedroom with a king bed, a full bath, and a TV. The upper level has a bedroom with a king bed, a full bathroom in the hall, and a bedroom with two queen beds.
Spend your mornings sipping coffee or tea as the sunlight filters through the trees surrounding the back deck and the creek rumbles by with the melody of bird songs. There is a wood-burning fire pit & a small creek for your enjoyment. When you’re ready to adventure out, go to Lake Lure’s public 3-acre white sand beach to rent a kayak, paddle board, or spend your time lounging in the sun. Perhaps lunch at Burntshirt Vineyards and Bistro and take in the face of Chimney Rock as you sip on local wine and feast on carefully cultivated seasonal entrees. Take your time wandering down Main Street, Chimney Rock, browsing the shops and sights, stopping at Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery for a local brew, Coffee On the Rocks for a nice berry smoothie or almond milk latte, or John Bull Trading Co. for the best fudge in town. For those up for a hike, visit Chimney Rock State Park and climb the 100+ steps to the top, or ride up in their brand new elevator.
Wrap your evening up with a nice dinner at LakeHouse Restaurant Bar & Grille, ordering a platter of apps for the table with delights such as crab stuffed mushrooms, spinach dip, and BBQ wings. Enjoy a juicy filet mignon on a bed of onion straws or a local special, Blue Ridge Mountain Trout that is pecan-encrusted. Once you’ve had your fill of the adventurous day and delectable eats, head back to the cabin for a relaxing evening, playing board games in front of the roaring gas fire as you watch a movie on cable or laughing around the campfire as you reflect on the day and past times together.
Take one of your days at Catahoula Cabin to venture into Asheville, an hour away, and explore the vibrant downtown food, arts, and beer scene. Spend a morning walking through the gardens and grounds of the Biltmore Estate, a historical home with award-winning gardens and amazing architecture. Lunch at one of the restaurants on the Estate, or head back into Asheville to dine at one of the many James Beard-nominated restaurants. No matter where you eat, you’re guaranteed to experience the amazing flavor and delightfully crafted meals. Rest your weary feet in the summer while floating down the French Broad River on a tube, and enjoy your lazy afternoon.
As a guest at Catahoula Cabin, you'll have full access to the elite Rumbling Bald Resort located just 10 minutes away. Boasting the North Shore Beach Cabana and marina, where you can play around on the water by kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or pontoon boat, this resort also offers tennis courts, pickleball, various hiking and biking trails, and an adventure camp designed for kids (ages 6-18). You can still enjoy the resort amenities inside, even on those inevitably rainy days. Catahoula Cabin is located in Lake Lure. This home is approximately 15 minutes to Lake Lure, 25 minutes to downtown Chimney Rock, 35 minutes to Rutherfordton, 40 minutes to Tryon, 45 minutes to Black Mountain, and 1 hour to Asheville.
