Fine for the price.

The place was old and wasn’t in the best shape, but it was clean, the host was very nice and it was fine for the price. The bed was comfy, and it served its purpose

Looks can be deceiving. I took numerous pictures when I arrived of some of the problems in this unit.Kitchen: Window did not open, sealed shutWhite powder in the oven There were no baking pans to useDead bees and flies on the window sillBees were somehow able to get into the kitchen even after I covered every doorway.Holes near the stove Bedroom:Only four hangers to hang clothesCould not open windowPlastic used between baseboards and floorBathroom:Mold in the showerWindow was sealed shutLiving Room:Dead bees and flies on the window sillBees were somehow able to get into the living room even after I covered every door way.Everyday, I found at least eight plus beetles in the unit, dead and alive.I kept every door closedWindows were sealed shutOne of the doors to enter the apartment had a doggie door that was open.I did have contact with the owner about different issues. She told me to use bee spray to kill the bees (there were at least twelve bees that got into the apartment) and that the windows did not open.

Good value

I booked this place based on the price and the decent photos. For the price it was pretty good. The bed was comfortable, the place was clean, and the owner was extremely nice and helpful. No regrets booking it. That said, a couple of notes that make it clear why it was a lower price: 1. It’s a basement apartment with low ceilings. At 6’7” I could not stand up straight in the kitchen. If you’re over 6’3”, you should be aware. 2. When it rains, the entryway has a puddle just outside the door. There was about an inch of water waiting to soak your feet. 3. The gate in back was in disrepair, making opening it a little bit tricky. That all said, I still recommend this as a good value. To add to it, the owner found my new ear buds that dropped from my bag and is making sure I get them back. I will likely use this place again when visiting the Twin Cities.

Two major problems that could be easily resolved

The accommodations themselves were just fine. They were comfortable, quiet, and as expected. However, there were two major problems, both of which could, and should be resolved:1) The apartment for rent is 1/2 of a duplex, and while the space is not shared with the host/owner, there are no interior locks that would prevent the host/honor from coming into the rented apartment at any time. There are two doors, and while, one of them locks from the inside, the host's key can open.it from the outside And the other door can’t even be locked from the inside. At least at a hotel, there’s a deadbolt and safety lock on the inside which gives the renter peace of mind and safety. deadbolts should be installed on the inside of both doors.2) The guest contact – the person I was directed to contact with any questions or issues – was almost impossible to get a hold of. I texted several times, called, emailed, and I finally got a response after several days and after complaining to Evolve.

Host was very nice and responded quickly and when I had a small issue. It’s very basic accommodations, but it’s clean & comfortable. Not having a sink in the kitchen & around corner in laundry room is as a bit inconvenient, but that was plainly stated in the listing. One small suggestion, as someone with a back injury, it would have been nice to have something in the bedroom to set a suitcase on instead of on the floor. I know there’s draws etc…, but not everyone wants to completely unpack… Even a folding thing like hotels have to set it in the closet (not much floor space in bedroom) would be nice. Overall though, it was good experience. Good place to stay if you’re looking for clean, comfortable, very basic accommodations at a good price.
