This is why I always impress on my guests that if there is any query at all please just ask me. For example, I could have showed you where all the household bins are, point to the hairdryer sitting on the shelf, yes we are on tank water so only installed a bath for one, The verandah kitchenette works warmly 98% of the year, sorry you had a really cold snap - we are adding an extension there to make it even more sheltered, the mattress is a best practice rated for the comfort of a variety of guests, we had it made especially, and the only thing I can think of that may have provided an smell is the ti-tree outside which often flowers at night and exudes a lovely scent. The bed had been varnished 6 months before with a non odour product. I have been particular about household products and their odours.
