A comfortable but musty house in Paihia
The position in Paihia was perfect but when we arrived it was impossible to find the key and we had to ask the property manager to find it, we were told key was outside the front door but actually one had to scramble way round the back on a steep section to find it. there was one key for three adults and the lock on the door it was used in was loose and needed fixing.
looking at the photo of the house it looked as if we would be able to drive in to the garage and the job of getting luggage in would be easy but no we had to move all luggage in from the road and we are three women in their mid 80's. luckily the property manager was still there from letting us in and she carried our cases up the steep drive and stairs. There was no mention that the garage was not available and i doubt that i would have booked if i had known.
the house was comfortable but very very musty. Downstairs was almost impossible to sleep in and cupboards and drawers in the kitchen were very musty as well - the pantry reeked of mildew,. Some of the drawers had very old stuff to use particularly the cutlery.
there were no instructions in the house and we had to get the property manager back to get the tv going and wing it with everything else.
the barbecue area was old and grubby and i think almost unusable however the house has great potential but it does need a considerable amount of tlc to bring it up to scratch.
