Gorgeous Johanna Views and Hospitality

Mark and Roz’s gorgeous property was a perfect place to spend a few relaxing days. The cabin was built of lovely local woods, with huge windows framing the beautiful views of gardens and farmlands. Comfortable beds and bath, nicely furnished, light and cheerful. Lots of back roads to explore and several good meals at the Perch. Couldn’t have been nicer!

Such a stunning setting and perfect digs. The cabin is not only clean and cosy, it has stunning views and a spacious living area. Everything you need for a relaxing get-away and it’s pet friendly. Our two mini-schnauzers loved it and we’re super excited when resident pooch, Blue, dropped by for a visit. We also had a super relaxed yoga session with Roz which was money well spent. She came to our cabin with all the gear. All we had to do was stretch and breathe. Maura, Nick and Harris .

Wonderful quiet location and truly dog friendly

The location is wonderfully quiet, with a great view and is truly dog friendly. They even have a resident customer service representative the friendly collie called Blue to show you round and have pats and cuddles. The dog friendly Johanna beach is close by and perfect for wind swept walks. The accommodation is well presented, with all the key things you need for a comfortable stay including a wood fire and air conditioning (both of which kept us cosy despite the cold, wet weather). This coupled with the views across the nearby farms make it a great place to relax for a few days and curl up on the couch with a glass of wine and a good book!

Great Experience

Relaxing, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the full woodbox and treats in the fridge. Would happily stay again.

Stunning cottage

Set amid beautiful gardens filled with native birds we spent a week in cottage number 3 and cannot recommend it highly enough. The cottage is so comfortable and beautiful, with stunning views out the huge windows. The owners are on site, and are happy to help with anything you need (including spare keys when we locked ours inside ). And Blue the dog is so friendly and cute!

Quiet getaway - enjoy the serenity

A lovely place to get away from it all, lovely views and exceptionally quiet, wifi available but no internet connection. Cottage was clean and tidy but very old, (photos on website very deceptive) comfy couch, small bedrooms and no wardrobes in one bedroom. No dryer and we had cold weather and therefore couldn't dry towels etc. Website information needs to be updated as the Café does not stock groceries as detailed. The local restaurant was exceptional and highly recommended. Expectation for what we paid was disappointing.

Hello Chris. We are sorry you did not totally enjoy your stay with us. This is the lowest score review we have ever received and feel the need to reply to your comments. Firstly, we do have internet connection. The Telstra Wifi dongle was in plain view on the TV table. All you had to do was turn it on and the password is displayed. If you did not know what it was or how to use it you could easily have asked us. Yes, our cottages our old and we clearly state on our site that we began this business in 1997. I should add though that we maintain them to a very high standard and categorically refute your statement that our photos are deceptive. In fact, we take offense at your inference that we are intentionally trying to deceive future guests. Yes, our bedrooms are small and we do not have dryers but again this is stated on our website. The local milk bar "Yatzies" does supply basic supplies but it is not an IGA. I think I mentioned to your husband Frank that you could access our undercover orchard and garden. Available at the time of your stay : blood plums, tomatoes, lettuce, spring onions, zucchini, cucumber, capsicums and baby carrots. I am not sure whether you ventured into our garden. As you know we live on site and most guests will contact us if they need anything and we are more than willing to assist.

Peaceful retreat

We really enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful and very relaxing and the perfect getaway. Mark and Roz were wonderful hosts. Johanna is an amazing area and we were often the only people out walking on the beach. We also enjoyed some bush walks in the area such as Melba Gully. It was a quick drive to Laver’s Hill for coffee.

Otway deight.

Lovely bungalows. Great for couples. The property management team comprises two lovely humans and two even lovelier dogs. Border collies Hanna and Blue will greet you and make you very welcome without intruding on your stay.

Exactly what we needed

Quiet, well located for privacy from other cabins and a short drive to the wonderful Johanna beach. Beautiful gardens all around the cabins, second best dog in the world (ours is the best) who visited frequently but was very well behaved. The location is fantastic for visiting places in the Otways we’d never seen before, from the coast to rainforest areas and bush. Special mention for incredibly comfortable, large leather couches for relaxing on after a day hiking.

Beautiful setting close to stunning coastline.

Cottage had everything we needed, set in lovely garden with sweeping views through massive windows over the surrounding countryside - you can even see out to the ocean at Johanna Beach. The interior was lovely - lots of wood, windows, mirrors, glasswork etc. Very close to some of the most stunning sections of Great Ocean Road Walk. We had 2 cars so could car shuffle, when needed. Plenty of wildlife too.

What a beautiful place

The property was beautiful the view and the gardens brought such a relaxing feel to our stay. Even though we only got to stay one night it was such a peaceful and relaxing stay. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away and be around nature.

Dream life

It’s a very neat place. Wake up with rabbits on the grass outside patio, sleep with full sky of stars outside glass wall. It’s a three-day dream life experience we had and will spark in the memory for life long. Thanks for providing such a wonderful place.

It's very quiet here. There is no light whatsoever in this area which makes for sensational star gazing. Blue Wren Cottage is suitable for people with disabilities.
