The Ursula Suites are away from the constant bustle of the main tourist streets, yet just 4-5 minutes’ walk from the Lower Barrakka Garden,10 minutes from the Gozo & 3 Cities ferries & the main food market; there is a convenience shop nearby. The building has a lift.
Our Deluxe studio apartment was well equipped with a full-sized fridge-freezer, oven and ceramic hob, knives, cooking utensils and pans, but no chopping board, so we had to slice bread and chop food on a plate.
It also had aircon/heating, a safe and a washing machine – but there were no instructions for operating any of them. When we enquired we were told the safe was broken; when we asked for it to be fixed a.s.a.p. we got no response. Management may not have known the washing machine was also broken, but didn’t respond when we notified them.
The thing that concerned us most was security – especially as our safe was not usable. The keys to the building and the individual apartments are chained within key-safes. The security of the building is compromised if another visitor forgets to ‘scramble’ the 4-digit code after accessing the entry key-safe, as happened several times during our stay.
Communication with management was tricky and stressful. We didn't receive our access codes before check-in time. We phoned 3 times, got no reply, as did Expedia which resorted to email. Eventually check-in info did appear on our Expedia itinerary page and we got in. Management really needs to operate more effectively.
