Modern thatched cottage with 2 bedrooms - 1 double en suite, 1 bedroom with twin beds . Sleeps a maximum of 4. Large sitting room and dining room/kitchen. All modern conveniences. Located on farm land with large garden. Only 100m from waters edge. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. Ideal a a base for visiting ireland's scenic north west. Only 2.5 hours from Dublin. Golf , surfing , fishing all within easy reach.

Quiet location near the beach

Cottage near the beach surrounded quiet with sheep and cows nearby. Peaceful location not too far from stores and Sligo activities.

A Great Rural Irish Experience

This isn't for those looking for 5-star luxuries. This is a fantastic glimpse into rural life on the western coast. Surrounded by farms, mountains, and the sea--one can imagine how little life has changed in some parts of the country. This cottage has everything you need for a comfortable reprieve from modern life. It's just what we needed! Thanks to the owners for checking in and making sure all was well when we were too busy absorbing the surrounding beauty to ask many questions. :) Wonderful stay!

Un pur bonheur

Le gîte est idéalement situé, bien équipé et fonctionnel. Il a une histoire et une âme, on s'y sent très bien. Le soir, assis dans le salon, une Guinness à la main, le soleil qui se couche dans la baie, un pur moment de bonheur qui restera gravé dans notre mémoire pour toujours!

Heerlijk verblijf in dit sfeervolle huis in Streamstown, Ballysodare bay

Het huis van Donald en Cathleen is een heerlijk sfeervol huis in een erg mooie omgeving, met prachtig uitzicht op de baai, en op Knocknarea (een prachtige heuvel). Je kunt genieten van de vogels rond het huis en de baai, en geweldige zonsondergangen (zichtbaar vanuit de kamer, keuken en bijkeuken). In de directe omgeving kun je heerlijk wandelen. Er is in het huis ruim voldoende documentatie voor diverse activiteiten in de omgeving aanwezig. In de gezellige eetkeuken zijn ruim voldoende spullen om te koken en te eten. Het huis ligt in een zeer rustige omgeving, en is een goede uitvalsbasis om vele mooie bezienswaardigheden in het noordelijke deel van Ierland te bezoeken. Donald en Cathleen waren zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam voor ons. Het contact met hen is zeer prettig en makkelijk.

Ein irisches Highlight

Das Haus ist über die GPS Daten super zu finden. Die Begrüßung ist herzlich. Die Lage und die Umgebung wundervoll. Der Ausblick auf den Ford und den Knocknarea ebenso. Das Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen, selbst das Wlan funktionierte. Bei einem regionalen Stromausfall half Donald schnell. Unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Thatched roof cottage with amazing views

We really enjoyed our stay here. Views were amazing!! Location was great as a base for exploring county Mayo and Sligo. A little far for exploring Donegal. Everything was great, the only downfall was the limited internet, but otherwise it was awesome!

Stunning views of the sea strand and mountains

The photos cannot capture the breadth and wonder of the view all around this pleasant thatched cottage. First, there is the narrow lane with well-trimmed hedgerows on either side leading to the property. Then, you turn into the house lane and the view opens up. Sheep and cattle grazing on all sides make this such a lovely pastoral setting. Then you drive to the side of the house and the view is simply gorgeous at any time of the day and in any weather. We were so happy to stay here! The nights were cool enough for a peat fire in the living room, which was utterly delightful. Imagine watching the late sun set (around 10:15pm for us) over the sea strand with a lovely peat fire! The kitchen is well appointed and comfortable to use and to sit in, as well. One night we also had a peat fire in the small "wood" stove. We enjoyed the quirkiness of the kitchen sink being located in the Scullery. It inspired us to do the dishes by hand rather than use the dishwasher. The bed is comfortable, though small for those used to a king-sized bed. There is plenty of room in the closet/wardrobe to put away your things and keep your luggage out of sight, so you can really settle in. We used the second bedroom as my husband's dressing room. The two twin beds seem rather tight, but for children it would be fine. This is not a place for two couples to rent together! The bathroom was very fresh and clean. The shower was comfortable and simple to operate, though the crack along the bottom edge leaked, and we had to put a washcloth there to catch it. We liked the windowsill for putting out our toiletries. The little table by the sink was a plus. Outside there is a table with 4 chairs for viewing the mountains, the sea strand and watching the House Martins dive all around over the pastures and then up to their mud-built nests under the eaves. Very entertaining, along with the cows coming right up to the fence. We loved opening and closing the gate every time we drove in and out (to keep out the sheep), though that might become bothersome to anyone less appreciative of the farming environment surrounding them. For us, it was part of the stay, which was so lovely I can't say enough about it!!!

Perfect base to explore the hills and beaches of Sligo

A real home-away-from-home. Everything we needed was at hand in the very well equipped kitchen and, after a day trecking the hills and beaches, relaxing in the light-filled drawing room while watching the sun set over Ballisidare Bay was just magic!

Großartiges Cottage in bester Lage

Das Cottage liegt ruhig und idyllisch an einer Bucht und biete einen phänomenalen Ausblick auf den Berg Knockarea, die Bucht von Ballisodare und die Ox Mountains. Die Einrichtung ist sehr gemütlich und hat viel Charme. Trotz der sehr ruhigen Lage sind alle wichtigen Geschäfte und Einrichtungen in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Das Cottage ist ein idealer Ausgangsort zum Erkunden des gesamten Nordens und Westens der Insel. Unsere Kinder und unser Hund haben sich im Cottage und auf dem umgebenden Gelände pudelwohl gefühlt. Wir können das Cottage von ganzem Herzen empfehlen und würden es jederzeit wieder besuchen.

Ideal location, quaint cottage

We spent three weeks at the cottage. Close to a bay, the scenery was breathtaking and changing all the time with the weather. The cottage was an excellent base for exploring the Counties Sligo, Mayo, Donegal and parts of Northern Ireland. The cottage was well furnished, clean and had everything we needed. It is out of the way and you will need a car, but that was what we were looking for. We found many good restaurants, shops and attractions within a short drive. There were many Megalithic sites (some dating back 5000 years), beaches, forest walks, sheepdog trials, mountains, abbeys and the Wild Atlantic Way close by. Any questions we had for the owners were answer promptly by telephone or email. I would recommend it especially for a couple or small group. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back!!

Lovely and romantic

Old style cottage in a scenic and quite position, we loved it at once, even if it is almost very windy. Inside the house You find everything, all clean. Sligo is very near, and a lot of beautiful spots are easily reachable. Recommended!!!
