The Compass House was designed by Mark Matthews and is the ultimate artists/beach lover/surfers retreat. One block from the Ocean or two two blocks from Montauk Town this gem of a property will immerse you in nature and all things Montauk. Walking distance to the Shadmore Hoodoo's and mere bike ride to Thursdays Local Market. Walk to surf every morning.
Stunning full living room with a tree house effect upstairs and all points of the house pointing due East, West, North and South.
Four bedrooms two full baths, two half baths. One bedroom can be easily converted to a yoga or work out room and is two sides of glass. It currently has bunk beds in it but those can be moved out.
With this fantastic location, which is close to the ocean and town, you can revel in a beautiful Montauk get away!! This special spot on a very secluded road in Montauk's Surfside area offers open living, kitchen and dining area all accessing a large deck great for BBQ'ing or relaxing while listening to the sound of the ocean.
Safe and quiet dead end street, close to it all but tucked away in your own vacation paradise.

Great hosts, great house and pool, and easy walk to town and beach.

We stayed each of the past 2 summers, and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Thomas and Nancy are super helpful and they’re home is a perfect Montauk getaway. The location is perfect for quick walk into town and to the beach. And when you just want to chill, there is a lovely heated pool.

Perfect location and beautiful home/pool

The best way to experience magical Montauk. Amazing heated pool and backyard, walking distance to beach and town. The owners could not be more accommodating. We will be back next summer !!

Great stay in perfect location

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at Nancy’s home. It is a great house in a perfect location. We walked to the beach and to town every day, and loved not having to use our car. Nancy was responsive to every question and concern and was a wonderful host.

Wonderful Stay!

Our stay was great from beginning to end. The house is in a great location and as advertised. Tom and Nancy were fantastic hosts and easy to deal with. We highly recommend booking this house!

Perfect Stay, Perfect Hosts, Perfect Location

From the booking process to check-in all the way through departure, nothing disappointed. Nancy & Tom were great hosts and took the time to answer any of our questions as well as proactively tell us the steps they are taking to ensure the safety of their guests with their cleaning procedures. The house was awesome! The house was immaculate when we walked in, amazing deck with a bbq, heated pool, room on the grass to bring any backyard games, they had an ample amount of beach chairs, and all within a 5 minute walk to the beach while feeling so secluded when you returned back to the property.

Surfs Up!

Great property up the street from the beach. We bought a beach cart in town and walked down to the beach everyday coming back in the afternoon. If you like the beach and convenience of town this is a great option.

Thomas and I have lived in Montauk since 2004. Thomas has a thriving Landscape Design company in Sag Harbor for the last thirty years and is also an avid surfer and musician with his band Jettykoon. He is very active in preserving the core environmental beauty of Montauk and often seen on the forefront of fighting for natural, sand only, beaches among many other things. I am a professional singer songwriter with a band that has been been making music on the East End for the last 2O years. Together we have three children who attend Montauk School during the year.

We both have an infinite love for Montauk. It's raw natural beauty, pared with the thriving town that has a charm all of it's own. If you are looking at rentals in Montauk I probably don't have to tell you what is special about it. One thing I will say is that our house is just a bike ride away from it all. We bought this land because it was at the end of a dead end street. It is a minute from the hustle and bustle of it all but at the same time offers solitude and that is important to us. We love our neighbors and they love us. We intend to keep it that way. That said, you can really enjoy the town and walk home at night to the sound of the peepers but if you are looking for a share house situation then this is definitely the wrong listing for you.

Walk to town, walk to beach, bike to farmers market on Thursdays. Go out all night and walk home... don't need a car! Have guests? They can walk EVERYWHERE. Our second room has it's own access and bathroom making it a perfect option for guests. Want to go to Ditch Plains? There is a trail at the end of Surfside that leads you to a magical stroll along the sea and pops you out the other side. Or just take the beach back and walk through Lowenstein Court (next to Atlantic Terrace). Don't feel like the craziness of Ditch? Then grab your chair and walk down to Ocean at end of road. If your looking to unwind and really have it all, this is the house for you.
