Tucked away on Tattnall Street, Whippet house is a two-bedroom Savannah gem. Guests will enjoy the short walk to downtown's center, while having a private retreat in one of the city's oldest residential neighborhoods.

You’ll find the living room appointed with an eclectic yet warm collection of furnishings and decor from the owners' international travels. A formal dining room connects the front of house with the cheery kitchen, equipped with modern appliances and cookware for all your dine-in needs. Off the back of the home, you’ll find a private courtyard that comfortably seats four.

Both bedrooms are upstairs, each with their own full baths. The first bedroom has a Queen size bed and antique writing desk, while the second bedroom mirrors the first but with a King size bed and excellent views of historic Tattnall Street. With windows on either side of the home, Whippet House receives ample natural light during the day. Shutters and window treatments ensure privacy when wanted.

One block north lands you in Chatham Square, one of Savannah's gorgeous green spaces. Head east two blocks to historic Forsyth Park, known for its famous fountain and a popular location for weddings. Enjoy a liege waffle and latte at Mirabelle Cafe, before touring the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, located right across the street. Broughton Street, a hub of Savannah’s shopping, and River Street are only 10-15 minutes north from there, respectively.

We can welcome your dog companions at this pet friendly home, but ask that you find other arrangements for cats, birds, and other furry friends. There is a $130 pet fee (non-refundable) with a 35 lb. maximum weight limit per dog and a limit of 2 dogs per reservation. Some homes may allow larger dogs, please inquire for more information.

Visit to Savannah July 2025

Came to Savannah for a long weekend, the Whippet House was as advertised and more!The location is very walkable to River Street, the Historic District, and of course Forsyth Park.Would stay again!

Nice location to enjoy Savannah

The property was great for two couples enjoying Savannah for the weekend. The location was convenient and we enjoyed sitting out on the back patio once it finally cooled off.

Loved our stay!

Stayed with two friends as a girls weekend, we loved the house and would stay again. Very clean and comfortable, well appointed kitchen, close enough to historic district that we walked everywhere, and we loved walking through Forsyth Park each day. Highly recommend.

Wonderful location!

Girls Trip

Our group if five older women travel several times yearly and enjoy using Vrbo so we can all stay together and enjoy our time together. This was a great location, house was perfect and absolutely loved Savannah.

Great location and beautiful home

We stayed in Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. This beautiful home was conveniently located to all venues and close to Forsyth Park which was beautiful. I took my dog and had great green space to walk her several times a day. The house is nicely decorated, everything you need is there and beds are comfortable. We’ll definitely be back. Great host, who communicates well.

Beautiful Savannah

Our visit to Savannah was terrific due to our outstanding accommodations at the Whippet House. The house is quiet, clean, and beautiful, and the artwork is phenomenal. The home is located close to public transportation, so we did not do much driving once we arrived. The kitchen and bathrooms are well appointed, and we appreciated having laundry facilities and off-street parking. We highly recommend staying when visiting beautiful Savannah!

Perfect location

I looked at several properties before booking this one. The property was nice. Nice historic feel with modern amenities. It was perfect location to walk around the historic district. It was also great having the parking space in the back. We rented a mid size car and it fit perfectly. It would be tricky with a bigger vehicle. Would definitely stay at this rental again.

Great location; nice property

Stayed here three nights. All areas very clean. Tastefully decorated. A short 5 minute walk to Forsyth Park. About 25 minute walk to the Riverfront. Kitchen and bathrooms well stocked. Comfortable bed. Strong showers. SNAFU on check in with door code. This was rectified more or less quickly but after a stressful 6 hour drive, it took the J out of the Joy for our arrival in Savannah.

Whippet House Rocks

The property was exactly as depicted. It was very clean, well appointed, and centrally located. The outside patio was to die for, and the bench in front was a great reprieve from the sun! Highly recommend this property.

Great location, cute home.

What we loved most about this house is the location and the ability to sit outside in the back. The weather was perfect to be outside and we enjoyed the outside every morning for breakfast and late at night for some late night cocktails. We walked just about everywhere. Only uber’ed once due to rain.

Wonderful place!

The property was very clean and inviting. We loved the decor and location. It’s a perfect set up for two couples. If you have a full size pick up truck, the reserved parking spot out back is a little tight. We were, however, able to find street parking out front. That’s not a complaint, just a heads up for anyone going. I highly recommend this property!

Great Spot

This rental was in the perfect location for us. We went down for the SCAD sidewalk festival. The rental was clean and very inviting. It could use a few updates to the paint and appliances but overall it has no effect on the house itself. The location was great, it was a mile walk to the River and close the park. The neighborhood was pretty quiet and all the neighbors were so friendly and inviting.

Savannah Sisters Trip - The Whippet House

We really enjoyed our stay at The Whippet House. The property was very comfortable, extremely clean, beautifully furnished, spacious with very nice amenities and in a great location for walking to local destinations with easy access to highways for several day trips outside of Savannah. It was actually easier to walk to local attractions in Savannah from the property instead of driving because parking can be difficult. There is a parking spot behind the property which was a big plus. We did day trips to Tybee Island, Hilton Head, Charleston and Beaufort along with exploring Savannah. We enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely recommend this property.

Girl's weekend

The placec was a good location, within walking distance of many things, if you don't mind walking. Parking spot for one car. Our only complaint was the linens for the pull out bed were in very poor condition, but they were replaced immediately after we made a phone call complaining.
