A house with character
We enjoyed our stay in Bitter Lemons Villa, Bellapais. It is an old building on three levels with steep stairs and several steps throughout the house and courtyard so maybe not for those with mobility problems. The house has many interesting artifacts throughout, and we used the large bedroom at the top of the house which has en suite and opens out onto the roof veranda with beautiful views across Bellapais, Kyrenia and the sea and with the magnificent mountains to the rear of the house. The courtyard garden has plenty of shade with lime, lemon, mandarin, olive and fig trees alongside two large date palms and houses a 2 meter long 'Plunge' pool.Because of the Lawrence Durrel connection the villa regularly has tourists outside taking photographs of the front of the house but that was no problem.
We do have issue with Vrbo who, in their listing of the villa, have a picture of the wrong building although the interior pictures are of Bitter Lemons Villa. They also list 'pool' but it is not a swimming pool, and there was no TV or CD Player as was listed. We raised these queries with the lady looking after the villa and she is trying to sort it out.
The Villa is very peaceful and the people if Bellapais very fruendly
