The Space:

Please note, effective Jan 1st. 2026, Hawaii's Transient Accommodations Tax will increase from 10.25% to 11% for all stays with an arrival in 2026 forward. We may need to collect the tax difference to secure and finalize your booking. We will contact you to confirm the adjusted amount.

This unit is on the ground floor and is accessed from the outside via an open air walkway minimizing your contact with others.

Our special condo was completely renovated in the summer of 2017 with high quality appliances and fixtures.  There are tile floors through out the unit. The kitchen has all new stainless appliances and a large granite counter top/breakfast bar for eating in.  Or dine al fresco on the lanai with seating for four. The condo has A/C in the Master bedroom and living room. Also, ceiling fans are located in each room making warmer days a breeze.  A reserved parking spot is conveniently located just steps from the unit.

Puako is a quaint, quiet historical community known for its relaxed local beach culture. Puako is a beach community unlike the resort areas on the Kohala Coast, with seven unique beach access points along the two mile stretch of homes.  The Puako Condo building is a unique fixture along Puako Beach Drive as there are no other buildings aside from houses, a country store and two churches. The condo is conveniently located next door to the historic and friendly family-owned Puako General Store, where you can buy food, cold drinks, prepared meals, rent DVDs, and more.
Full access of the condo, the pool and the grounds. Conveniently located on the ground floor, close to your assigned parking spot and pool!

The beach is right across the street. It’s perfect for snorkeling and is home to many honu (sea turtles). Wake up for the sunrise over Mauna Kea and see the turtles sunning themselves on the rocks. Just a 200 yard walk from your front door. And, in the same spot, is the best sunset on the island. It’s magical. Puako reef is also recognized as one of the best scuba areas in all of Hawaii. Stand-Up Paddleboards and kayaks are available for rent nearby.

Ocean adventures (whale watching, swim with wild dolphins, and manta ray snorkeling) are available from the Puako Boat Ramp, five minutes (or less) from your door.

Guests can relax at the property pool and indulge in a BBQ grill for a prefect island retreat.

PLEASE NOTE: This unit has ONE dedicated parking stall. Please consider renting a larger vehicle to accommodate all of your party. There is NO street parking allowed for vacation rentals according to local regulations. A secondary parking stall within the designating building parking lot MAY be an option but cannot be guaranteed for the duration of your stay or designated until shortly before your arrival. IF and as available, the additional parking stall within the designating building parking lot will be assessed an additional, daily fee. Please inquire directly, shortly before your arrival, for further information and potential availability.

Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guest’s children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Please refrain from using the lanais for conversations or viewing devices during quiet hours.

Guest Access:
Guests will have full use and access to condo and grounds. The pool deck and public BBQ area is shared with other persons in building.

The Neighborhood:
Puako is still the only ocean front residential community along the Gold Coast/Kohala Coast of the Big Island nestled between the Mauna Lani Resort, Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Kea/Hapuna Resorts. Hapuna Beach State Park has earned the reputation of being one of Hawaii Island's finest beaches. It is the largest White Sands Beach on The Big Island and consistently rates on Top Ten lists internationally. Hapuna Beach offers some wonderful opportunities for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, sunbathing and snorkeling and is just a mile from Puako. You can even drive the back road to Hapuna Beach and not get on the Highway. Local shore fisherman can be seen daily enjoying the great reef fishing. Puako Beach Drive has no through access which keeps it virtually still undiscovered by many.

There are six separate "beach" accesses along this stretch of beach. Although there is not a tremendous amount of sand, there are tide pools and the extensive protected reef is remarkable. During low tide, small pools dot the entire coastline and these pools are filled with small sea life that make excellent areas to explore for all ages. If you enjoy shore diving, kayaking and snorkeling you can find a spot along this stretch of shoreline to enter the water. Offshore the reef is home to a wide variety of fish and many days you will see dolphins playing right from the shore. Enjoy the Whales who return each year to mate and give birth in the tropical warm waters during the winter months.

Getting Around:
A car is recommended for getting around the area and enjoying all that Hawaii Island has on offer.

We like to say hello in person, but keep to ourselves otherwise. We are a professional management company and are available to assist you at any time during your stay.

Pleasant stay in a beautiful location

The condo is nice overall. I wish there was a dishwasher. The two back bedrooms tend to stay warm as there is only A/C in the living room and master bedroom. The host was nice and brought over a second fan. We enjoyed the quiet setting and the pool was pleasant also. Great beaches nearby too.

We stay here for a week and loved our time! The location is great...walkable to the beach and a short drive to the top beaches on the island. We had an issue with the kitchen sink and called Marla and a plumber came over the next day. Highly recommended!

Great area

I love Puako! Nice slower pace away from the heavy tourism. The condo is across the street from many beach access points. I’ve stayed in other condos in this building in the past and would say if you can, get one that is 3rd or 4th floor as you will have a water view. This condo had everything one would need however. Some beach chairs and other beach items. I would stay here again although it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Great location, ok apartment

Our family of six arrived at the condo to stay for 11 days. Puako is an amazing location to visit. This particular unit could use some updating. The mattresses have springs poking out the sides, the pillows are very lumpy, and there were two washcloths for the six guests. Housekeeping should wipe the top of the door frames as they have a lot of thick dirt up there that is visible from eye level and makes the place feel like cleaning has been neglected. There were plenty of beach towels which was nice and the shower worked well. It would be helpful to add fans so the cool air can reach the non ac bedrooms.

Perfect location

Perfect location for snorkeling and riding the waves on a boogie board. Close to shopping but not crowded. Quiet neighborhood. Great accommodation overall!

Puako paradise

Chose the condo for its location in Puako which did not disappoint--perfect home base for trips to Hapuna beach, beach 69, snorkeling the Puako reef. Condo was perfectly acceptable. We had an issue with the sliding glass doors when we arrived but they were fixed that evening by the property manager. Overall, the condo was clean, airy and well-stocked. Would stay there again.

Great laid-back big island location!

Our second time staying in the Puako area. Such a great location! Nice remodel on the place. If I had to ask for anything, it'd be a BBQ upgrade. Loved breakfast on the Lanai and walking over to the beach. Also being close to amazing beaches nearby. Jay was very helpful and accommodating! Nice folks in the complex!

It is a great condo, tranquil and quite perfect if you need to rest, no restaurants, traffic or big stores near by. excellent for snokling, specially if you walk or drive a couple miles to the end of the road, you will find a little snorkel paradise. Over all we enjoyed our stay there

Great spot for a family

We brought our three grown children to Puako. We have nothing but positive things to say about our stay. We are VRBO owners ourselves so we have very high standards. Here is what we liked: 1) Marlene and Jay were incredibly responsive, even to the point of answering our phone call when the weariness of 24 hours of travel left us disoriented to finding the place; they also came to check on us and give us some tourist tips; make sure you ask Jay how to use the cable TV--he's a genius; 2) the furnishings and accommodations were perfect; it's small but has everything you need; we used the W/D a couple of times; sitting on the small outside table was a nice place to use the laptop or read a book; we also used the electric outdoor grill for hamburgers; small but convenient; 3) the place is quiet and the folks are friendly; about half are owner-occupied and half are renters. The owners are very kind to the renters, which doesn't always happen, 4) the street is quiet and great for walking, running, or biking; 5) there are several mini-beaches open to the public that within minutes of the condo and allow folks to walk on the rocks, wade, or just sit and enjoy the waves and sun; we walked that street every day and hung out at the quiet beaches; the condo is also 10-15 minutes from two very cool big public beaches--Hapuna and Spencer; you definitely need to visit them; 6) the General Store is right next door to the condo; items are expensive (it's Hawaii, after all) but the people there are so nice and it's great for getting Mai Tai mix, chips, bottle of pop, or souvenir shirt. You should plan on a bigger trip to Foodland at least once for groceries, which is about 12 minutes away. Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1) If you want more of the tourist life, this isn't the place for you. We drove to the Lava Lava Beach Club and Aloha Days, which is held at one of the resort beaches but open to the public three days a week. But we could retreat at night to the quiet and solitude of the condo. If that's what you want, you should rent here. If you want to be closer to the action, you should look at one of the resorts. 2) We had a first-floor unit so there is no view of the water, but (as noted above), a beach/view is literally two minutes away. 3) A unit like this is best for two-three couples or a family with children. This was a great vacation spot and we highly recommend it. Thanks for a great 10 days. Scott and Jill
