Would have been very helpful , and would have saved much confusion , if the check in information had told me that a card was needed to access the apartment floor via the lift .The shower in the on suite bathroom was unsafe. The drainage was poor so that the soapy water did not drain properly, leaving the smooth tiled floor very slippery.In other aspects, the apartment was fine.

Funchal

We loved the location of our Funchal rental. We walked everywhere within the city. The balcony was a perfect place to sit in the morning and evening.

Great views, great location

Cleean, well appointed flat with a wrap around balcony giving views across the harbour, the nearby park and up to the hills behind. Plenty of patio furniture and when it gets too hot, the flat has efficient air conditioning. In short, an excellent place to spend a holiday

Perfect location with an amazing view!

This apartment was perfect for our stay. We loved beginning and ending each day on the wrap-around balcony watching the cruises ships come and go. The location was ideal. It is close to a supermarket and shopping center. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, museums, etc.

We can’t recommend this rental enough! Just perfect in every way. First class host. Perfect location. Beautiful apartment. When we go back to Madeira - we will stay here.

Good location, good view. However, building works on the floor directly above made noise an issue. Check before booking

Amazing apartment

We had a fantastic stay at The Boats Apartments. The location was excellent. We loved the large balcony with views of the sea and mountains. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We had a slight problem gaining access to the property, but the representative from An Island Apart, who manage the property, was with us 2 minutes after making a call for help. Overall we were extremely impressed and would love to stay again in the future.

Very nice Apartment

The apartment is very nice and was clean. Chek-In was a bit complicated because the keys were not in the Keybox and they were still cleaning the aprtment. But when Hugo arrived with the keys he showed us everything. Is also perfect when you have a car, because you can park in the shopping centre. Overall we liked this apartment very much.

Great Stay!

Once we got checked in, which was a bit chaotic, the stay was exactly what we hoped for. The unit was clean and looks like the photos. The location is superb. Parking is close by. We only received 1 key card which was a problem (with 4 adults going different directions) which never was resolved. This is my only complaint. Apparently, the renters before us did not return the 2nd card and an additional card was not available to us. The beds were comfortable and clean. Communication with the property manager was easy, with quick replies. I would rent from them again.

The potential to be wonderful but investment needed.

The apartment has a fantastic location in central Funchal with wonderful views over Santa Catarina park and the port. We loved watching the cruise ships sailing in and out. The apartment is quite spacious, modern and reasonably well equipped, although a dishwasher would be an improvement. With some simple improvements and investment we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Sadly our experience was less than perfect as the exterior of the building is in quite a poor state of repair, with a partly crumbling facade. Hopefully there are plans to attend to this. The sofa covers are stained and appear dirty as is the fabric headboard in the main bedroom. The outdoor planters (on the wonderful balcony) are full of dead plants which sets a poor tone. Why not use artificial foliage or at least remove the current sorry display? Overall the apartment has the potential to be wonderful. The location and views are superb and we’d happily stay again if these matters are attended to.

Lovely positioned apartment in Madiera

Amazing apartment with views over the cruise ship terminal, two bedrooms, two bathrooms with a wrap around terrace two minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants, only downside was there was no swimming pool and in a resort with no beaches we did miss one Management team of Francesco and Beatrice were so helpful, we got to the apartment four hours early and was hoping for some where to leave our luggage but when we called Beatrice she came down and gave us the keys so we could have the apartment early, we hired a car and the apartment has a dedicated parking space in an underground garage around two hundred metres away but the entry card would not work he then came back to the car park to rectify really so helpful would definitely return to the island Beautiful promenade to walk with lots of greenery to stop and rest with a beautiful park opposite the apartment Byron Wales

Deferred maintenance

The location could not be better in the old town of Funchal, and the unit has fabulous views. Unfortunately only one keycard was available and you cannot enter the gated grounds or use the elevator to reach the 5th (American 6th) floor without a keycard. Staying together for 3 weeks was complicated at times, and given that the unit is advertised for 4 people it would truly be difficult. There were many plumbing issues including a shower drain that was not properly installed. It is sad that we cannot provide a glowing review for this beautiful apartment that needs attention.
