Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: The picturesque community of Hixon can be found in picturesque rural Staffordshire, close to the Trent and Mersey Canal and the thriving towns of Stafford and Uttoxeter. Hixon is a great starting point for exploring the region's rich mill history, as it is home to numerous scenic walking trails and a couple of charming pubs. The mills have a rich history and are connected to the nearby pottery industry. Uttoxeter, which is only a short drive away, is home to a plethora of shops, eateries, and, if you're in the mood for a flutter, a racetrack. The Churnet Valley Railway is a family-friendly steam railroad that has been operating nearby since 1849. In the heart of Stoke-on-Trent stands the Potteries Museum, where visitors can learn about the region's history and view an impressive collection of pottery from the area. Only three miles away is the Wedgwood factory in Barlaston, where you'll find the historic Wedgwood Ceramic collection. Alton Towers is conveniently located close by, and the beautiful moorland countryside of nearby Leek is a sight to behold. Cannock Chase's walking and biking trails, the Roaches' rock climbing routes, and the abundance of historic homes ensure that visitors will want to come back again and again.
