Our stunning and much-loved second home is the perfect base from which to enjoy and explore Edinburgh. Built in 1805, it has consistent five-star reviews from more than 50 consecutive bookings, and has recently been further upgraded to an even higher standard. This stunning apartment is very spacious, with high ceilings, original features, and fabulous furniture. The Forbes' Residence is a luxurious home rather than a 'holiday rental'.
Located in the ‘East Village’ of the our beautiful city, it is quiet but just around the corner from Broughton Street which buzzes with coffee shops, restaurants and quaint shops. Walk up Dublin Street and you will be in St Andrews Square and the city centre within 10 minutes. Or stroll the other way through Stockbridge and to the beautiful Botanical Gardens. A wealth of historical sites, fabulous restaurants, festivals, shops and entertainment are on your doorstep. And yet you can be in Scotland's beautiful countryside or playing a world class golf course in less than an hour.
The Forbes' Residence accommodates up to eight people in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms, a stunning drawing room, a 'live in' kitchen and lovely views over the street and gardens. It has a stylish, contemporary Scottish theme, original stripped Canadian wooden floors in the reception rooms with elegant carpeting in the bedrooms, detailed cornicing, a flagstone kitchen and beautiful fireplaces. A fine example of Georgian architecture at its very best with a sense of history pouring out of every nook and cranny, this 19th century building was previously home to Scottish artist Anne Redpath.
Our family love to stay here - it is full of happy memories - and we rent it out to discerning visitors for a limited number of weeks each year. We look forward to welcoming you to our 'home from home' in beautiful Edinburgh!

Beautiful home, in good location. Lots of amenities and space to meet the needs of our family of 8. We were there for just 3 days but it was a perfect home in the middle of our vacation to unwind after many hotels. Very helpful to be able to do all our laindry

This is my favorite VRBO experience ever. The communication was excellent and the accommodations were so comfortable and clean. We loved everything about our stay, including the small touches like a welcome basket. We really felt like we were guests in someone’s home. The furnishings and amenities were lovely. I highly recommend this property for your Edinburgh stay.

This was a wonderful stay with a great location and lovely family feel. The kitchen was envied by the ladies in the group, just gorgeous! We really enjoyed the sitting area, plenty of room for the seven of us, there was even enough room for 4 more when we had family visiting. The linens and towels were of an exceptional quality, not what is usually available in a VRBO. It felt as though we were guests in a friends home and we would not hesitate to book again.

Our family (8 of us) enjoyed a wonderful week at this property this August. Given the craziness of the Military Tattoo and the Fringe Festival, it was a blessing to have a quiet, safe haven where our family could rest and regroup. A special shout out to Rosanna who was always there for assistance and direction. We highly recommend this warm and hospitable apartment.

This lovely apartment is spacious, clean, quiet and airy, with comfortable beds and furniture. Good kitchen facilities and nice places to eat nearby: we particularly enjoyed Frenchie, and The Ox (especially the Scotch eggs there). Pretty close to tourist spots and transportation points, though walking involves some hills, as all the city does. Responsive and helpful host (thank you, Rosanna).

This apartment was absolutely perfect for us. Six ladies , perfect size, perfect location, beautifully decorated. We loved Edinburgh and we would absolutely recommend this apartment for a wonderful stay.

This was the most gorgeous VRBO. It had everything you could ever want or need and more. We were able to go to the store and grab some groceries to have breakfast at the flat daily before headed out for the day to explore. It was a great locations and within walking distance of everything. I would highly recommend this place!

The apartment was better than expected - really comfortable beds, great location and everything we needed. Thank you as well to Rosanna for being so accommodating. Would 100% recommend.

This stunning property is immaculately decorated and provisioned. The hosts provided us with a beautiful basket of wines and goodies. The historic home is convenient to old Edinburgh, near restaurants, entertainment and grocery stores. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful, clean and spacious 4 bed house on the first floor. Great location. Close to all attractions. Well stocked .. comfy beds and great host . Overall 10/10 no complaints here. We loved it :)

This was a perfect place to stay for our family of seven. We cooked meals, played games and could walk to just about everywhere and if we were tired of walking Mansfield Place bus stop was just minutes away.Host and property manager were amazing!

We had a lovely stay- the apartment was just beautiful, spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend! The only suggestion I have for the owner is it would be nice to have a microwave. We ordered takeout one evening, and I had to eat the leftovers cold the next day, since there was no microwave. Otherwise, the kitchen was very well stocked, and the welcome basket of wine and snacks was very nice to have!

I could only dream that all the homes we rent during our travels were as perfect as this one. The location, condition and the way the home was stocked exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

Married for 28 years, we live close to Edinburgh in a village famous for its golf courses and sense of community. We love the city too and visit often. Gordon was born and raised in Edinburgh, Hannah is from England but also lived in South Africa and Kenya. We have three fabulous children, two are doctors and the youngest is at university.

Where to begin! We decided to buy a second home and spent two weekends seeing more than 50 properties. The minute we walked through the door we knew this was the one for us. It is beautifully proportioned with high ceilings and original features, and we have poured our hearts into making it a perfect home. Our kids would never forgive us if we sold it! We love being able to walk to everything and never use a car when we are there. We feel immersed in the fabric of the city. It is really special.

Everything already said and the fact that it is not a 'holiday rental' but a special and much-loved home. You will forgive us for asking about your group before a booking is confirmed. We want to ensure that our apartment is well looked after, and ask all our guests to be respectful of the other residents in the building who live there permanently are all lovely people.
