Set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park on the historic Rothiemurchus Estate, The Old Minister's House offers the perfect blend of Highland charm and contemporary comfort. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, yet only a short walk from the vibrant town of Aviemore, it's an ideal base for exploring the best of the Highlands.
This elegant former manse features five spacious en-suite bedrooms in the main house, plus a tranquil riverside suite with a further en-suite bedroom. Thoughtfully designed social spaces include a welcoming lounge with a log-burning stove, a riverside TV snug, a large dining room, fully equipped kitchen, utility room, and practical boot room, ideal for outdoor adventurers.
Outside, guests can unwind in the outdoor hot tub or gather together in the alfresco cooking and dining area, surrounded by the sounds of the nearby river.
Each bedroom takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape, combining 19th century romance with 21st century comfort. Expect crisp cotton linens, pocket-sprung mattresses, and blackout curtains for the perfect night's sleep. Please note there are no tv's in the bedrooms.

Fantastic stay and walking distance to lots of facilities

We loved our stay at the Okd Ministers House in Ruthiemurchas. The house was perfect for our group of friends with each of the rooms having en-suite bathrooms. There was plenty of space to congregate. Extra bonus was the location. We could watch folks on The Tree Zone and decided to try it too - great fun. We loved that the location was far enough out of Aviemore to enjoy beautiful Forrest walks to lochs and lochens, but close enough to walk in and enjoy spending time in Aviemore. Would definitely recommend for a large group.

2nd visit there, and 3rd and 4th visit already booked!

Another great stay at the property. We were a group of 10 adults and there is plenty of space for everyone without it feeling overcrowded. Fantastic location whether you are walking into Aviemore itself, or walking in the other direction to Loch Morlich.

Superb family holiday

We stayed for a week in July 2026 with grandparents and three family groups, we all had plenty of room and the annex was perfect for grandparents to have a quiet space. En-suites throughout is a real plus point. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location was perfect for us. Really useful to have the cafe and farm shop on the doorstep, along with bike hire, cycle path and tree treck! We used it all!! Quick drive (or cycle) to the loch with the paddle board/canoe - we had it nearly to ourselves. Only slightly further to loch Insh for all they have to offer. Easy cycle into Aviemore too! We will definitely book this again - we need to come back when the mountain is open (closed during our stay due to the wildfires). Thank you for a superb holiday.

Well situated house for all amenities,garden was not suitable for small children.House needed a deep clean and redecorated in some areas.

Family xmas break

Family get together for xmas ,six adults five children .Accomadation met all of our needs bedrooms good size with own bathrooms and comfy beds. Kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of crockery etc. Ideal location for Aviemore and cafe and shop next door.

Overall good

After 7 years staying at the Old Ministers house we have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is clean and very comfortable and in an ideal situation. This time we have had an issue but are attempting to sort this out direct with GNL.Also I would mention that the dishwasher needs attention (as mentioned also last year!). It keeps coming off its runners on the bottom shelf and can be difficult to re attach. Hopefully we will be back next year

The good news, a new router and boosters have now been installed which means Wifi is available throughout.

Really enjoyed our time at the Old ministers house. Hot tub was great, beds were comfortable and clean, house was within walking distance of the town so no complaints. That's our second time we have stayed at the house as a group and we would do so again.

Great Location, wonderful agency, amazing (elderly) house

On a wonderful whim, I rented the Old Minister’s House (OMH) for an entire month. It’s large, with lots of bedrooms (each with its own bathroom) and lots of space for hosting additional guests (my family members, in this case). The house is perched romantically on the edge of the River Druie. It also includes a well-equipped kitchen, and large dining room and living room. WiFi is secure and reliable. The location is on the edge of the old Rothiemurchus estate, itself largely located within the Cairngorms National Park. For those who love the outdoors and are seeking outdoor adventures, this is an ideal place to be, with everything from farm visits, horseback riding, falconry, biking, kayaking, and endless miles of hiking trails. Nextdoor to the Old Minister’s House are a cafe and the Rothiemurchus farm and gift store. Granted, the location, while rural, hosts plenty of tourists, so it’s not necessarily secluded. Nor did it seem overcrowded. I must also praise the GNL agency. My lengthy stay allowed a few small problems to surface, which the agency handled with speed and thoughtfulness. Jenny was especially helpful! My only concerns are for the maintenance of the house itself. It is only normal that the many rotating guests can be hard on a property. Weather and nature can be hard as well. There are various things that need maintenance or updating to keep this wonderful old home in its best condition.

Family break

The house is in a perfect location, walkable to Aviemore but close to Cairngorms, loch morlich and lots of other walks and trails. The house has the perfect layout for multi generation family break but is showing signs of age and was a little dusty in places. Great enclosed garden, perfect for the dogs and a lovely outlook.

Great house in lovely location.

Wonderful place for family gathering such as ours. Lovely rooms, well appointed and comfortable. Could have done with more attention to amenities (no salt, no soap/body wash in bathrooms etc). Would highly recommend.

Excellent holiday home

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Minister’s House last week. It was exceptionally well equipped with everything we needed for an extended family holiday. Amazingly spacious and well maintained with excellent views over the river. A really relaxing and tranquil setting and fantastic holiday home. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic weekend stay

12 of us stayed over 3 nights and was fantastic. Communication prior to stay was excellent. On arrival it was clean and well appointed. The house and garden area was lovely with beautiful view. The suite at the rear was particularly impressive. Lovely hot tub area and the fairly lights a nice touch. Great location for exploring and adventures. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

Great location great accomodation

Just back from a long weekend here with family (12 adults) The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, the location was great, quiet and relaxing but close enough to shops bars etc, rooms were spacious, little extra touch with gowns and slippers provided was great. Nice seating area outside aswell. Plenty room for parking 4 cars. Definitely would return to this property.

Great location. Great outside area with hot tub. Bedrooms were spacious and well fitted out. Loved the boot room and utilities room. Great customer service. Microwave was replaced the day after I reported it. Great communication and friendly staff

Fantastic location and a beautiful place to stay.

We have stayed in Aviemore many times over the last 50 years and this house was superior to all the rest. It is very comfortable , spacious and well equipped. It was not cheap but we shared the cost with 5 other couples, making it affordable. I would not hesitate to return and would recommend to our friends and family .

Fantastic house with loads of room and everything you need. Great BBQ setup and outdoor seating. The location couldn't be better. Close to Aviemore but also felt like you were not going to bother anyone with any noise. Would highly recommend.

What a fabulous house for a get together. All bedrooms spacious, comfy beds and all en- suite. Well equipped kitchen and the big dining room table was perfect to get everyone together. Location was also excellent with easy access to Aviemore centre and all the activities. Great value for money and would definitely recommend.

Lovely family stay

Great family stay, location fantastic for enjoying the Rothiemurchus estate. We had breakfast in the cafe next door and used the tree zone and mountain bike facilities. Also nice walk to the main town. The property configuration worked perfectly. A few essentials such as milk, tea, coffee, salt n pepper would have been nice. The property was clean if not a little dated. The hot tub was a nice addition but did need some maintenance with the headrests and filter. Great stay and throughly enjoyed. Thank you

The Ministers Lodge

The Lodge was very comfortable and luxurious, I would definetly return. It was only a short walk into the centre of Aviemore. Lots of walking and cycle tracks around the lodge. The hot tub and BBQ area was a great hit with all the family. Plenty of spaces for 4 cars to park
