Phenomenal stay in an almost off grid cottage - it felt like unplugging and stepping back in time. Well located for multiple hikes and on the bus route!

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting.Sitting outside with a nice glass of wine looking at Mount Snowdon with nothing but the sheep for company, is the definition of peace.Perfect location and wonderful communication with the host.Would have loved a shower at the end of the day, especially coming off the mountain, however you can’t have everything.

What a shame that you deducted 2* for the ancient cottage not having a shower. It isn’t meant to! This cottage is ancient and the antique roll top bath is the nearest to authenticity we can get. We specify ‘no shower’ so I would suggest you check amenities before booking another stay in a different cottage.

Where to start? I was on the back of work burn out and needed a detachment from reality. This stay was that and more. Upon arrival the views themselves knocked me off my feet. Blown away by the mountains and the clouds rolling across the valley. The cottage is rich in history, character and tranquility. Everything you need is at hand and from check-in to check out was superb.Inside is cosy, warm and comfortable all the while the owner has not tarnished this gem with modernisation and it feels like you have stepped back in time. 10/10! Having a soak in the bath while looking to your left and seeing the wildlife thrive and nature envelop you was a pinch me moment, so calming! I am not one to look for a negative but I do have one, and that is I couldn’t stay longer, I had a tear walking back to the car. Thank you for letting us stay in this precious, spiritual and zen cottage. Thank you, Niall

The cottage was the perfect peaceful escape that we wanted. The location is beautiful and quiet, with only the sheep breaking the silence.The description is accurate - the cottage is very rustic, cosy, and had everything we needed. The bathroom doesn't have a shower, but there is hot water and a bath if want it. The track up to the cottage is steep and narrow in places. As advised, we did walk the path first to check we were confident to drive up.I won't miss bumping my head on the low door frame into the kitchen, but other than that, we didn't want to leave - it was so peaceful and quiet.

The cottage is very, very old - and this means one has to be realistic in what will be available. With this in mind - this cottage is fantastic!! The drive up to the cottage alone, is an adventure in itself. It's tight - but you know your car's safe once it's in the field. The cottage is set into the hillside - stunning views across the valley. There is a little garden with seats and a fire pit - we spent hours sitting out in the evening. You can hear the waterfalls in the distance and watch the late walkers coming down the hill opposite.The inside fire was out of use on our visit - however there are electric radiators you can plug in and the place warms up beautifully. Just be aware that it's not centrally heated and dress accordingly. The living room is brilliant and has a piano! The kitchen is simple but has everything you need. The bathroom has the hot water switch and you can have wash downs or baths easily. The bedroom is up some very steep steps...hold on tight! Also watch your head stepping up into the bedroom - but I tell you, that bed is so comfy, you can get extra blankets from the middle room and we were happily warm each night. The owners kindly leave drinking water in bottles, which was great and we were able to warm things up in the oven or the microwave. We also took a walk along to the local pub up the road for dinner too. The cottage has comprehensive instructions as to what to do, and communication via email was great. The dog really enjoyed it too!

Just what we wanted. Back to basics. Host was very helpful. Only downside is the walk up to the cottage - very hard in lots of snow with bags but I can imagine it would be idyllic in the summer.

What an incredible place to find yourself. So cut off from the modern world, a perfect respite. The property is so cosy and provided with all the basics you need to get by. A slower pace of being and so so much charm! Make sure you take food supplies and a torch with you as there's not many services nearby! Prepare to switch off and climb some mountains!!

This property needs upgrade, bathroom needs replacing tabs and bath, very old and dirty. Water pressure very bad , kitchen sink not completely trash. Only view amazing. Fire place leaking. Owen completly not to use, dirty and sticky. All kitchen is sticky, I understand old cottage but some cleaning is inportand

How sad that you spent your stay whinging about the cottage - having obviously NOT READ THE LISTING. Thank you for the lovely photos of the magic blue river marks in the bath; the early 19th century paint on the stairs ( left as a memoir to the history of the cottage) Your wife was disgusted by your ‘review’ and was genuinely surprised that you thought 2 people could fit into an antique roll top bath. Regarding the cooker? What filter did you use to take your David Bailey photos? Travel lodge is only a few miles away. I suggest you book in for a sterile w/end asap

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming cottage! Firstly, it is situated in one of the most beautiful places in the world, you are right in the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and greenery. The cottage lies right next to a footpath which leads to a challenging but rewarding climb. We came here because we wanted to take advantage of the dark sky area and we had two fantastic nights of observing with our telescope here. As for the cottage itself, we found it to be very cosy and very warm once we had put the electric heaters on for a bit(the building retains heat very well and the bedroom was very cosy, we had an excellent night’s sleep) The log burner is currently awaiting servicing, but this didn’t affect our trip at all as we spent most of it outside ! The bath does take a while to fill but remember that you’re staying in a traditional Welsh cottage whose water source is the river nearby. We truly loved staying in the cottage because it gave us a small insight into the reality of living on the mountain. The kitchen is fully equipped for everything you need with pans and crockery etc. We would highly recommend for you to stay here if you need to get away from it all and want to enjoy nature, the sky and each others’ company. We can’t wait to stay here again!

Sehr einfache Unterkunft in einer landschaftlich sensationell schönen Lage. Das Haus ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge und Wanderungen in Snowdonia. Mit größeren Wägen z.B. einem VW Bus kann man nicht direkt bis zum Haus fahren und muss noch ein kurzes Stück laufen. Uns hat eine Dusche im Bad gefehlt, aber dafür war es sehr schön vor dem Haus zusitzen und einfach die Landschaft zu genießen und die Schafe zu beobachten.
