Imagine sitting in the sunroom, on the patio or on our handmade, outdoor love seat with a cup of coffee or glass of wine as you enjoy the fantastic view of mountains, flower gardens, and relax after a full day of fun!

Kate's Place is located in the Crested Butte historic district, one half block off Elk Ave., main street. Kate's Place was shipped to CB in 1922 by train as one of the first original Montgomery Ward's kit homes. It was erected by a local miner with the help of friends and neighbors. The home is named after Kate Starika who shared letters with the lonely miner and agreed to marry him after he provided her with a respectable home.

The home was restored in the early 80's and was recognized by the Board of zoning and Architectural Review as the best example of historical renovation completed that year in CB.

"We tried to maintain as much of the historical integrity as possible. The renovation was a labor of love." As much of the original wood trim, flooring and light fixtures were retained. Beautiful leaded glass doors and side panels were designed in Dallas to fit the new entrance way into home and the wonderful enclosed sunroom. The perfect place to relax after a day of skiing, hiking, biking or shopping in town. The most wonderful element of the home is it's location...walking distance to all the beauty and charm of Crested Butte.

Kate's Place is cozy and comfortable with furniture designed to spread out and relax. When you come to CD you want to relax and enjoy the large and private yard, patio, and outdoor furniture that provides another great space to chill!

Kate's Place is licensed by the town of Crested Butte, license no 12755. Yearly the property is inspected to make sure all safety rules and regulations are followed.
This assures you and your family of a safe, clean property for you vacation needs.

What a beautiful place to spend our Colorado Christmas! Such a cozy, sweet house! The location was perfect to walk into town and get a delicious dinner or hot coffee and yummy breakfast in the AM!

Great house in town

Everything was great. The house was well stocked and perfect for the five of us. Perfect location in town one block from all the restaurants and shops. We’ll definitely be back to stay again!

Great house and perfect location

Perfect house. Clean, well equipped. We cooked all meals and kitchen was perfect. Very close to shuttle stop to slopes. Would definitely come back and stay here.

Wedding weekend

A great place to stay in Crested Butte. Super location - quiet block very near all town attractions. Comfortable beds and super well stocked kitchen. Upstairs main bedroom suite was great. We were in town for my son’s wedding and great backyard and deck served as a wonderful place to sit and visit with family who came in for wedding. We would love to stay here again when we return for another visit.

We loved our stay in this clean and inviting home. The beds were comfortable and the home had everything we needed. The location is excellent as the Elk Street is a short walk from our front door. Communication with our host was quick and she provided plenty of recommendations. We will definitely recommend! Thank you!

The house fits us well—complete kitchen, generous dining area, spacious master bedroom/bath.

Great location and quaint property

The best location to walk downtown Crested Butte and catch the shuttle. The property was perfect for my family of 5. It was cozy and warm and perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. Kathy was very responsive when we needed to communicate which was appreciated. We will definitely be back when we come to CB again

Darling home with AMAZING location!

This home is just as pictured - cute cottage just one block from the main Elk Avenue in downtown CB. The home has everything you need in the kitchen, laundry, even bandaids/first aid when our little one took a spill. And the owner was very responsive and communicative... it was a great stay and we'd rent it all over again!

Perfection

This is one of the best VRBO‘s we’ve stayed in. This place is well appointed. Anything you want for is there. Everything is stocked, almost everything you would need for cooking, washing, barbecue. It’s very well located near downtown Crested Butte. Impeccably clean. Kathy is very responsive. you can tell she really cares about this place.

5 star if master bedroom had a door

Great place and the bathtub for two in the master would have been spectacular if there was a door for the master bedroom. I suggest you request that the master bedroom door gets installed before you arrive unless of course you don’t have guests or kids staying downstairs.

Property was excellent.

Property was in excellent condition. The owners appear to have replaced and installed new carpet throughout and new beds and other items. Nice to have kitchen items available that we find not around at other properties. Great location and we would rent the property again in a heart beat. In fact we are on the list as repeat renters for 2017, so we are not telling any of our family just in case!!!. You are a very short walking distance from downtown and all of the restaurants and shops. Everything was as presented in the description....

Convenient location, nice home

Our stay at Kate’s Place was nice. We enjoyed being one block from Elk Ave. and all the restaurants and shops. The house was clean and inviting, stocked with towels. Upon arrival we found out that there were numerous rules not mentioned in the listing (unable to open any window freely, leaving blinds a certain way, etc.) that may have been beneficial upfront since we really enjoy letting in the mountain air, though we lucked out with cooler weather. We were also surprised to find that the door to the primary bedroom upstairs was removed thus not allowing for much privacy. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Fourth of July-wedding

House was great and worked perfectly for our group. 80 year old grandma was able to get in and around using cane and walker. 1st floor bedroom was a perfect space for her which was our primary concern. Upstairs master worked well preparing for the wedding with multiple mirrors and space to spread out. Exterior deck with table and umbrella was utilized as a workspace prepping for the wedding reception. We enjoyed being outdoors while getting the work done.

Now retired we get to enjoy CB even more and have learned that spring and fall are also special times and are busy exploring the area during these seasons too. We often visited Crested Butte to ski and loved the area. When we saw Kate's Place we fell in love again! The house is part of the history of CB and is all most 100 years old. Kate's Place is located one block off the main street of Elk Ave....walking distance to hiking, shopping, dinning and parks. Two blocks from the free shuttle bus to the mountain.
