Come visit our sweet Huckleberry Cottage nestled in the woods on private Old Hatchery Lake, in Union, close to Hood Canal, Lake Cushman and Puget Sound. outside of Shelton, Mason co.

We have a (Dock) with (Canoe), (Row boat), (kayaks)and (Fishing poles) and life jackets (A Washington State fishing licence is required). (Clean water Swimming!!).. Full kitchen, washer Dryer and more... The drinking water is fresh and safe to drink..

There are hiking trails to view the mountain range of the Olympics and Valley of Skokomish River and Indian Reservation. And Hood Canal.. {And close to Lake Cushman,11 miles long!}
Gentle reminder: If you're wanting to bring a pet, please give us a call.

We have nearby shopping at Hunter Farms,with fresh sea food, on hwy 106, 1 mile from your cabin. And downtown Shelton. With the best fine dining or casual food restaurants. Walmart Super Store approximately miles away.

Enjoy the wildlife... Alder brook Golf Course within 10 miles. Please pickup visitors guides.

What a cute and cozy cabin! Interesting architectural features allow fabulous view of lake. Our 4 year old grandson enjoyed the kids' size Foosball table and board games--his rules--particularly. We had everything we needed in this lovely spot. Could not have been cleaner. Charming.

The cabin was very clean and tidy. Perfectly situated on the lake. lots of board games and plenty of room. We loved this place!

Tranquility Lake Stay

Peaceful lake setting steps from the cabin. Lots of opportunities to watch eagles in action, watch dragonflies, and fish from the dock. The cabin is cozy and has all you need for a comfortable stay. You are truly unplugged at this cabin. If you are looking for a working vacation, this is not what you are looking for. If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind, this cabin has what you need.

Peace and tranquility

Had an enjoyable stay at Huckleberry Cottage! A beautiful setting and very peaceful! Our last night there we were visited by a Bald Eagle as we sat on the little dock.

Peaceful get-a-way

Grandfather & grandson spent a few days bonding. From hiking, fishing, kayaking to smores on the open fire..... the time was enjoyed & will be remembered through the years!

So relaxing! Such a cozy place on a quoet private lake! There is swimming access just down the way that you don't have to use the dock for. Future travelers: My only complaint is this kitchen is NOT stocked at all. Most places have bare necessities including oil, seasonings, basic condiments, etc, but this place had nothing! Pack your own! Otherwise amazing cabin!!!

Comfy and Cozy

Our family was looking for a quiet place to unplug and relax our minds from media and work. This place was all that and more. We played board games, told stories, had home cooked family meals, listened to the rain, read books and went for a canoe ride on the lake. None of us wanted to go back home. Lovely, simply lovely.

H-berry always delivers..

Our 3rd visit - to relax and enjoy the lake front getaway. How often can you make everybody happy? Smiles from the teenager (Kayak and swim is next, no time to text). Smiles from the wife (read/take in the rays/sun), Smiles from the dog (walks/room to run). Heck even dad was caught smiling (coffee/and a view, eve on the dock w a brew)….

Sweet Cabin on the Lake

We have stayed 4 nights in the cabin. This cabin was one of a kind that you would never forget and wanted to return back. It has a private setting on a beautiful lake surrounded by the forest yet close to the stores and restaurants. We have a memorable moment associated with this cabin: our son caught his first fish there. We enjoyed the campfire under the stars after a day of hiking. Very relaxing! Please note that there is no internet in the cabin, however we were able to use a hotspot whenever we have to search for a trail map or check emails. Thank you, Annette, for letting us stay at your cabin. We would definitely love to return back :)

Cozy and inviting cabin. Comfortable and quaint. The best part for us was the dock, water, trails, and beach. We spent as much time as we could on the dock or in the water. And of course some late summer huckleberry picking!

It was out 4th visit to the cabin, and it is an amazing getaway. It is very quiet and relaxing. The hosts do everything to make visitors comfortable. There is all that visitors need for staying, and more.

Huckleberry Cottage Review

Very nice getaway. Quite, clean, and a fun place for a couple to spend time. The lake is very nice with a great dock to relax on. Many great day hikes near by, as well as some great places to eat and visit in Hoodsport. If you had kids this place would be great to go. Lots of fun to be had.

Woodsy wonderland

We had a very nice stay here. The cabin and lake were just as I’d imagined. We did not want to leave! Kayaked around the lake, cooked delicious meals in the kitchen, and hiked around the area.

Peaceful and quiet getaway!

Got this as a gift for my Mom and Dad who love to just relax at the lake, fish and troll around on the boat. They said they just loved how private and quiet it was there! Cabin was really nice and remote, has enough space to take the family. Nice lame, caught some trout and did some swimming. We will definitely be booking again!

Inaccurate listing

Wifi is noted as a listing amenity AND IT IS NOT. I chose this place based on 2 things--pet friendly and wifi. I wanted to have a working holiday with family, instead I spent 20minutes both ways driving into town and sitting at a shop for a couple hours to use their wifi instead of being with my family. In response the owner said: "The company is run pretty much out of the country nowadays so you'd never know what they're going to do". No ma'am that is not why your listing is inaccurate. If the owner doesn't know how to update their listing the onus is on them, because people pay $100s &$1000ks to rent, to be extremely transparent at the very beginning of their flowery description stating: THERE IS NO WIFI, DESPITE WHAT THE AMENITY LISTING SAYS.We were locked out of the cabin on the 3rd day and sent a message to the owner. Luckily we kept trying the code for about 30 minutes and got in because the owner responded 3 hours later that this was a known issue and there was a trick to get in.That should have been part of the check in information and this would have easily been avoided. There are 4 houses on the very small lake (not 3 as the listing states) with a very large 5th house being built. There were only 2 families using the lake during out stay, which was "cozy" and not too crowded feeling. If all those houses were using the lake at the same time, it would be crowded, no way to avoid that and not a dream fishing retreat.The cabin is clean and cozy.

Another Wonderful Stay

We love staying at this wonderful cabin. The owner is wonderful to work with. Everything you could want in the kitchen, super comfy beds. Peaceful and quiet setting. To make things even better my spouse caught 6 trout. Very blessed to have found this cabin.

Fabulous as always

Another July 4th here at the cabin, another great time. Gorgeous weather. Great fishing. Kayaking was so relaxing. Some cool books to read. Gorgeous flower arrangement and decor to celebrate the holiday. Just what we needed.

People say... The Lake is Enchanted... Full of record Trout and Bass... and the mosquitoes are of no bother for our {trout lake}..is inhabited with {Venus Fly Trap Plants} they eat bugs!!! So Your fishing boat trips, or romantic boat excursions are very relaxing.... The children will love watching the salamanders, and walking the trails in view of the Deer, and Olympic Mountain Range... Or swimming in the clean spring feed warm Lake.... We Love sharing with You and Yours...Please take care of it, and respect our resident neighbour.. {Have a wonderful Time!!!}
