Welcome to Sheltering Oaks, a peaceful 3BR/3BA retreat nestled beneath ancient live oaks and sabal palms on Bald Head Island. Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac at the end of a private driveway, this home offers privacy, comfort, and the perfect setting for a relaxing island escape.
Just a short walk to the beach (under ¼ mile) and the Maritime Market (about ⅓ mile), you’ll enjoy both convenience and serenity.
Thoughtfully Designed for Families & Friends
The open floor plan creates an inviting space to gather after a day in the sun.
Two spacious downstairs bedrooms, each with a private full bath.
Private upstairs suite with full bath — ideal for kids or guests who want their own space (with a door at the top of the stairs for added privacy).
Step outside and unwind:

A screened-in back porch with dining table and rockers — perfect for morning coffee or evening dinners while listening to the distant roar of the ocean

The Magic of Bald Head Island
Accessible only by passenger ferry and free of cars, Bald Head Island is a rare coastal treasure. Spend your days on pristine beaches, climb the historic Old Baldy Lighthouse, bike beneath maritime forest canopies, or enjoy waterfront dining overlooking the marina. Once you visit, you’ll want to return again and again.
**There is an external security camera on the premises, however it is turned off while guest are staying.
Also please note that there are wild animals on the island. It is not uncommon to see deer, turtles, frogs, toads, coyotes, snakes, and even alligators. Please be respectful of the wildlife and be sure to keep your trash in the designated locked trash receptacles!

Well furnished. Kids room upstairs works well for teenagers who want their own space. Both carts worked well. Kitchen easy to use. AC was fine for what was a hot week.

This house was the perfect location between the market and beach yet on a private lot with a cul-de-sac and long driveway perfect for keeping kids and pets corralled. The owners were quick to respond to questions and couldn’t have been nicer.

This was a fantastic stay! House was very clean, golf carts worked great, host was super communicative and helpful! Loved the location, close to the beach and market but also secluded enough that it was very peaceful in the evening. Hoping we can stay here again next time we visit the island!

This was our first time on Bald Head and we had such a great trip. The house was so cute, clean and a great location! We will definitely be back.

Perfect for us.

GREAT BALD HEAD ISLAND STAY
This is a wonderfully located home in the center of BHI near the beach as well as near to the market. The attractive home is in a quiet and secluded spot.

Great, quiet location!
Really enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal if looking to get away some place quiet and secluded on bald head. Also appreciated that the furniture/appliances/etc were fairly new, especially compared to many other houses we have stayed at on the island! Overall a very comfortable stay.

Weekend Getaway

Great location, peaceful and close to the beach
Our stay was very relaxing, quiet home, close to the beach, fun for families! We enjoyed the beach, fishing, riding bikes and home-made and take-out meals on the screened in porch. The home is quite comfortable, we enjoyed the island wildlife, and appreciated having the dog along for the trip.

Best vacation spot ever!
Our stay on bald head island was simply amazing! The house was perfect in every way and the owners communicated every detail and quickly dealt with any questions we had. Perfect week had by all!

Great location on the island!
Home is cozy! Location is superb... close to market & beach. 2 golf carts a plus. We had a great time and hope to get back soon!

Perfect location
We loved our stay at Sheltering Oaks. The location was perfect for going to the beach and getting to the market. We loved how it was nestled in off the road. It is a very cozy home. We will be back.

Good Get Away
We had a great time at Sheltering Oaks. Very nice location. Perfect for our family to have a quick trip to BHI. Thanks to Kristen for her advise on our travel plans and ferry schedule.

Really nice, well maintained house. Perfect for a small family. Central location on BHI! Close to everything but plenty of privacy for a relaxing stay.
