Beautiful Nancy Lake appartment

Water frontage on Nancy Lake near Willow Alaska. Indoor plumbing with high end flooring and trim. This is the premier lake in the Matanuska Susitna (Mat-Su) Valley. Enjoy water skiing, swimming, kayaking, jet skiing, and fishing in the summer. In the winter enjoy snowmobiling, ice-skating, cross country skiing, ice fishing, and the northern lights. Awesome mountain views in addition to the lake view from the bluff overlooking the lake. Southern exposure keeps the property out of the shadows. It’s a 800 square-foot downstairs apartment with its own dedicated entrance. There are travertine floors, a double headed shower, and laundry room. Hair dryer available. Kitchenette area with a microwave, sink, George Foreman Grill, coffee maker, and mini refrigerator. There is one double bed, roll-top desk, love seat, double sink vanity, small table with chairs, and wardrobe. Extra queen mattress for the floor available on request for up to 2 extra guests . You have access to the upper deck, lower deck, outdoor grill, outdoor mini refrigerator, dock, pebble beach, porch swing, hot tub, fire pit (bring your own wood), and yard. Hot tub gets winterized in the fall and isn’t available till late spring. This is a great place to stay to check out the famous Iditarod dog sled race which starts in Willow Alaska. Go to Huston’s Founders Days in August just down the Parks Highway. Watch the start of the Iron Dog Snowmobile race in Big Lake Alaska. Do the canoeing portage trail system in the Nancy Lake Rec Area. Salmon fishing at Deshka Landing or Willow Creek. Visit Hatcher Pass via the Hatcher Pass Fishhook Road just down the Parks Highway. Visit Talkeetna for a day trip. Spend a few nights on your way to/from Denali or Fairbanks Alaska. Concrete stairs lead from the apartment down to the lake.

The space itself is beautiful with excellent views of Nancy Lake. The host was responsive when issues arose with regard to locating and accessing the property. The location is excellent for accessing the local lakes and trails for recreation. The space is better suited for summer rentals, but worked well enough for our winter time reservation. Our family was very appreciative of the host’s willingness to work with us on a later check out time given our plans and possible needs with a newborn in tow.

I am sorry you were expecting cable or satellite programming on the TV. I clearly indicate that is not the case in the VRBO owner app but am not sure how well that translates to the VRBO user app. The fact that the second mattress is for up to 2 extra guests (making the max total up to 4) and goes on the floor is articulated in several places in the listing. There is even a reference to request and coordinate for it ahead of time which would allow any questions about it going on the floor to be addressed before hand. There are 2 photos of the same bedframe and mattress with different duvet covers so hopefully that is not causing confusion.

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful apartment. The hosts were kind and helpful. A perfect place for a Nancy Lake getaway.

Very nice place

Everything was fantastic but my friend and I are both disabled and we did not realize the fire pit was so far down stairs we cannot climb stairs I was just wish that that was in the explanation of the property but overall an excellent place to stay

Fun at the Lake

This VRBO is a beautiful location with wonderful swimming and water fun. There were many delightful surprises. For example, we could even watch the blue and gold Alaska Railroad train go by when out on the lake. The lodging is lovely and the owner was very gracious. I'd gladly come back and would even love to come again in the winter.

Tranquility at the lake house

We stayed here for two nights after a hiking trip in Denali The hot tub is a welcome treat The weather wasn’t cooperative to do any water sports but we just enjoyed the serenity of staying by the lake and watch other people have fun. Host is friendly and gave us privacy. Apt is well stocked with amenities. Our favorite ones are the keurig and washer dryer plus the dual showers. There are no blackout curtains but it was cloudy most of the time and there are Lots of beddings and towel we could use to improvise. Thanks for the Alaskan hospitality, Eric.!

Absolutely Beautiful

This is a little jewel. The apartment looks over Nancy Lake. We did have a little hard time finding where we were supposed to go. You have to walk down a sloping deep gravel area (not driveway because you’re not supposed to drive on it). It probably isn’t the best for those that are not strong on their feet or have heavy luggage, it’s a little hike. Worth the view. Very Clean and nice. The bed is a full size but there was a queen size mattress hiding and worked out well for my aunt and me. Had some issues with the website - totally not the owner’s fault. Wish we had more time to enjoy!

Thanks for the review. I noticed you said about the gravel down to the apartment “not driveway because you’re not supposed to drive on it.” I am curious where you got that idea from because you can certainly drive your vehicle down the gravel to be close to the apartment door. If that is not clear in the listing or welcome notice I will try to fix it.

Beautiful View from the bedroom, breakfast table, and desk

The owner was very helpful when we asked for him to fix the dryer and the spa. The kitchen was too small and with only a small Forman electric grill, no air vent, no freezer only a small wine cooler that did go down to 38!degrees, we were not able to really cook there. The outdoor grill on the upper deck was accessible but we only used it once when family joined us for dinner. The shower and bathroom area was large and comfortable. The toilet seat was lose and the screws were stripped. I’m sure Eric would have fixed it but we didn’t tell him having had enough disruption with the dryer repair. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we loved the lake. The Kurig coffee pot and pods were provided which we also appreciated. No toaster but Eric loaned us one. The bed was a double creepy antique European bed which was a little small but we got used to it. All in all we enjoyed our stay, The size of the closet/Utility room was also very nice and easy to move around in. Thank you.

Excellent visit

We had a lovely visit. We were looking for a place to stay that would allow dogs that was close to where my dad lived. This place was lovely. I would love to come back in the summer. It had a full size bed that was comfortable and a loveseat. The floors were beautiful. It had a nice walk in shower and closet. We did have a small weather issue which was not the owners fault but did impact the door that would normally be accessed (heavy snow prior to our arrival). The owner was super accommodating and helped provide access which was above and beyond. I bet the view on the lake would be wonderful in the summer. It was pretty in the winter too and would have been great for snow machining.

Uncomfortable furnishings

Roomy, attractive property with much potential. Layout would be improved with end tables to put a drink or book on. Kitchen lacked sufficient counter space for appliances and food prep. Loveseat uncomfortable and bed too tall (waist high). Linens need to be replaced. Eric was quick to respond to questions on VRBO prior to arrival. Great X-C skiing trails on lake.

Beautiful Lake getaway

Gorgeous views of Nancy Lake. Lots of grassy land for kids to run around and/or play games. The only difficult thing was that the grill is on the top deck so you have to take all of your meat, seasonings, toppings, etc. upstairs with you or cook upstairs and bring the meat or grilled protein downstairs. Washer and Dryer are a nice amenity. Will keep in mind for our next getaway.

Nancy Lake Apartment

Peaceful place to relax on the lake. Nice daylight basement apartment with nice view of Nancy Lake. It remained cool during the day despite the 90 degree temperatures outside.
