This intimate, dog-friendly beach house on the Mississippi Sound offers fantastic westward sunset views, an open living area and kitchen with wide windows, and panoramic views of the water thanks to a lack of nearby neighbors. It's the perfect place for a peaceful vacation!

The large extended deck, partially covered, features a teak wood picnic table that overlooks the sound. A smaller deck facing the Gulf allows you to enjoy the sound of waves from either side. There is easy access to the Gulf beach - the soft sands are only steps away.

The house was clean but not beachfront as advertised. I had ti go buy pans to cook breakfast. The ones there were so scrated and rusty i di not want to use them. The furniture on the deck was all broken and rusty. The table chairs had part of the legs rusted off and would not sit up. The loungers were craked and broken so we could not use them. Will not rent again.

Great view of the bay!

The Views were great. The house was nice. It not new by no means, but was a cute little place to stay. The front room furniture is well loved, and the patio loungers need replaced. Three out of four were broken. The house does sway when others walk through. We didn't let any of that ruin our stay. It was still a peaceful place to stay. Be careful on the beach in the back yard. Glass does wash up from the bay. We did enjoy our stay, and enjoyed Dauphin Island.

June Retreat

We scheduled our June retreat for my Stepdad's and niece's birthday getaway. The house was quiet, rested on a beautiful bay view beach, which was perfect for an 8 and 6-year-old. The house was nicely furnished with plenty of towels and needed commodities, i.e., detergent, soaps, etc. The stairs going up to the house were a bit steep, and my stepfather (72 years old) did have some difficulty going up and down them as he has mobility issues. There were plenty of crabs on the beach at night and the children enjoyed catching them and playing in the sand. The mosquitos were quite bad, but that is par the course for Dauphin Island and nothing the hosts could have done to prevent that. So, if you are going to Dauphin Island this is a nice place to stay. It is located at the end of a street and very quiet. Just remember to bring bug spray, citronelle candles, and plenty of sun screen because you will not want to leave the beach. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to return in the fall.

Great location

For the money, great house, wonderful location. Two items with easy fixes would improve the appeal. One, clean and paint the black spot on the ceiling. Very unsightly. Two, I would not stay here again without this correct. Simply put black out curtains in the queen bedroom to buffer the light streaming in from the neighbor’s 24/7 floodlights being left on and the outside security light. I cannot sleep with the light on and that’s the way it feels! An easy fix to just add the blackout or light filtering curtains.

Break from the cold

We absolutely loved this place. We were lucky enough to get free early check in because we were traveling only 100 miles for the day. This place had french doors off bedrooms and dining with huge windows throughout. I loved the colors and decor. Loved the walkin shower. It is a bit aged but clean. The view to the ocean kept us on the deck a lot. Gorgeous.

Trip to dolphin Island with our dog Thor he’s a black lab

Glad we got there when we did cause they had a lifetime event with the snow, but we love taking our dog for a walk on the beach. We loved getting fresh seafood at steamers. We were off-season. We enjoyed every sunset. We got a torrential rain so we got to experience why they stilts. We had fun we liked it.

Fabulous views

We stayed for a weeked. The view to the bay is unobstructed. The beach is just a shot walk down a path. The area was quiet and the home was clean. Bring spices if you plan to cook. All appliances were in working order.

Disappointed

This makes the fourth year we have stayed at the house, and most likely the last time. It appears little or no maintenance is being done to the point that there are now many hazards and even had issues with the electricity popping off and on. I notified Vacassa of the problems we had and their people came out to look at it, but it took 4 days to get the electric company to come out. I asked the electric company employee why it took so long and he said it hadn’t been reported until the day he came out. There is black mold on the ceiling in the living room, and around the AC vents. Many of the lights were burnt out. The furniture is in disrepair with many stains and pieces out of the wood-like pieces. The toilet in the main bathroom isn’t even properly secured to the floor and rocks from side to side when you sit down. The cleaning left a lot to be desired as well. In the “backyard” of the house there are boards with rusty nails sticking out of them, broken bottles and trash. The deck actually has holes in several places (not just knots) and there are issues with some of the boards on the stairs. I have pictures that I'm not allowed to post, but you are welcome to message me for more information. We enjoyed our first year so much and it's just such a disappointment to see how it has gone downhill. It is comparatively reasonably priced, but not worth my safety or inconvenience at this point.

Great location. Home needs work.

This house is in such a wonderful location. You have the bay right behind the house and it’s just a sort drive to the beach. Great views from the back deck. The house was nice and clean when we arrived. Both bathrooms look to have been renovated and were nice. Good water pressure and hot water. The house is in need of repairs. There are multiple soft spots on the floor. The house sways quite a bit which can be a little unnerving. The back deck needs a lot of work. There were some exposed nails and one of the spindles also became detached when my child pushed on it. I didn’t feel totally comfortable with my small children out there. The stairs to back deck were also shaky. The beds in the house could also use replacing. If you are planning to do a lot of cooking, I would bring my own cookware. Most of the skillets were very worn/damaged. There was plenty of plates, cutlery and cooking utensils. The stove is also not great. Electric burners are uneven and a bit hard to cook on. All in all we had a great time due to the location but would not stay here again unless those things mentioned were remedied.

Great views!

We really enjoyed the stay and everything was comfortable. Any minor inconvenience that happened upon us was quickly overshadowed by the amazing location and view from the back porch. All in all we would stay here again and enjoy it all the same!

Great vacation with dogs

The house is nice though some features are a bit dated. The views are great. You get a good view to the west as there is no only another house on that side. Great sunset view from the dining room. The windows and doors have low windows which the pups loved to look out. Cleaning crew had done a great job. There were minor maintenance issues which we told management about on checkout.

The location and beach was great. Both baths were great. However, the condition of the front and back decks was not safe. In fact, one of our party chair leg went through the back deck and through him out of the chair and on to the deck. The sofa bed had baseball size knots in the mattress. The kitchen had only one fry pan. Nothing to boil shrimp in. The floor had soft places in it. The staff I interacted with was very nice and came to the house the day of our complaint. They did repair the hole in the deck. But there should be work done before it is rented again.

Nice home & view

This home was as described. Clean and in a good location. We had a nice stay. As some others have mentioned, the house definitely shakes. We are not large people, and it was a noticeable and significant shake/sway when one of us walked through the home which was a bit unnerving.

Nice little beach house at end of street

Was reasonable priced compared to other properties near by. It was very quiet day and night and the back deck was great for watching boats and stargazing at night. There were a few issues we didn’t bother contacting management with but overall we loved it and our stay and plan to return.

Sunset Beach

This is a nice house in a GREAT location. We had plenty of amenities for our 7 day stay. We enjoyed the private beach and lots of walks with our dog. We had good food at Captain Snappers, Island Restaurant and the carriage. We will book here again.

Nice small house, good location, needs attention

Have stayed in this house several years but won’t again. Every year more things are a bit worse. Sewer smell in master bathroom for second year. Dishwasher didn’t work. Reported both items and no one came all week. Bedding needs replacing and stove doesn’t work well. Now you have to check at 3, strip beds and start laundry for them and take out all trash. I don’t mind trash but not my job on vacation to wash sheets for next guest at the price you pay to stay there.

Views of the bridge are great and the sunsets are stunning. We stayed here for two weeks last year and liked it so much that we booked it for four weeks this year and have already reserved it for four weeks next year. Lots of fresh, local, oysters at local restaurants and Skinners fish market is a great place to get locally caught fish to prepare at home. Location is great and you have views of both the bay and the Gulf.

Nice Location on the bay

Property was clean and in a good location on the bay side, close walk to the beach side. Check-in and out was seamless. The house was everything we needed it to be to enjoy our stay, but could use a few upgrades. * Heat stopped working during out trip. Went outside and found that a breaker had tripped in exterior electric panel. was able to reset without needing to contact management. Entire panel cover had clearly blown off some time ago and was weathered; new panel, breakers, and some exterior wiring likely needs replacing. I did text this concern to management upon checkout and it sounded like they were going to check it out. *House shakes a bit when people use exterior stairs. Could benefit from some cross bracing like most other houses on the island.

Beautiful location

Missing chances

I have rented this house a couple times and have always enjoyed the location. This time around, there where some things that are making me rethink renting it again in the future.
