A true “ski in ski out”

Can’t say enough great things about my stay. A lot of places advertise how close they are to the lifts but we were RIGHT NEXT TO THE GONDOLA! Didn’t have to worry about driving/bussing to the mountain, getting ready at the car, or having to go back to your condo. This came in handy as mountain temps fluctuate throughout the day, we were able to quickly go to the unit to add/shed layers then get back to the snow! When we finished our day on the mountain, we were immediately greeted by the ski courier to check and store our skis. Within minutes we were in the hot tub, cold drink in hand, watching the skiers finish their day. The pool/jacuzzi area is the best I’ve ever experienced out west. Perfect temp, perfect jets and PHENOMENAL VIEWS! We got watch all the skiers finish their runs from the hot tub while reminiscing about our day. This place also boasts a sauna & ski shop for rentals & tuneups. Staff is phenomenal. They listen to & notice the little things! The bellhop saw my advanced skis when checking in, the next morning when getting coffee he approached me, without my asking, with a map and grooming report to show me the best runs to hit...and they were the best runs I’ve hit in a long time! Room was perfect. Bed was sooooo comfy and kitchen & bathrooms are fully remodeled. Our unit (#273) was next to the pro shop so it was super easy to get a quick morning hot wax. It’s decorated with antique skiing equipment to give it that mountain lodge vibe. This is the best hotel at the best mountain in the world. Can’t wait to stay again next year!

Luxury living at the base of Eagle Bahn Gondola

We absolutely LOVED our stay in this unit. The kitchen is completely upgraded and has all of the essentials for cooking. Warm and comfortable King bed and beautiful bathrooms. The amenities at The Lion Square Lodge are also prime - BEST jacuzzi right at the base of the mountain/Gore Creek, sauna, El Sabor for happy hour margs and tacos! When you're done skiing/snowboarding for the day, the free ski valet is right at the base of the mountain ready to take your equipment for the night. The staff are also very accommodating and friendly. Overall a great property and would highly recommend for any party!

Amazing ski vacation, steps away from the slopes!

This place cannot be beat! From the minute we arrived the bellhop was waiting to help unpack our car. The convenience of the gondola and the free ski check was amazing. This place is luxury at its best! Restaurant on site! Ski shop onsite! Lions Head village footsteps out the door! Cannot wait to go back!

Cannot be Beat

I stayed here on a ski trip to Vail. This place is absolutely fabulous. From the outside of my hotel, it will take me about 30 seconds to reach the gondola entrance. Maybe it will take a whole minute if I left from the door to the room. Closest I've ever stayed at to the base of a mountain. Check-in is super easy. Definitely make sure to use a 4x4 car though, the parking lot was covered in ice and I feel the hotel should maintain it better. Its a gated entrance and requires you to use the intercom to let them know to open the gate for you if you are a guest. They take your bags in from you and park your car and give you back the keys. I read from the description that there is an underground parking lot and I thought they would park it there. Unfortunately, they parked my car up top where it was snowing. Maybe you can ask for them to park it downstairs? Else just go out later and bring it down yourself if you prefer it snow free and less dirty :). Every day at 4-6pm, they serve hot chocolate and apple cider with some cookies. Its just the powder version with hot water but hey, I enjoyed it. There's always coffee there too. Ski rental store is right nextdoor if needed. Usually, most pullout sofa beds are springy and not very comfortable but this one was super nice and firm. Definitely best sofa bed I've experienced. There's a nice full service kitchen. The only thing I found lacking was perhaps aluminum foil and saran wrap? I didn't pick it up at the grocery store initially thinking it was there because everything else in the kitchen seemed fully stocked. There's a general store 3 minutes walk away that had it for 4 bucks (total ripoff but whatever, lazy to drive out). Would rather pay an extra dollar or 2 on the room rate to have that in there if possible but not a huge deal. There is also a daily grocery run shuttle provided by the hotel at 5:30. You need to make reservations but it takes to directly to Safeway and City Market which is nice. They give you their phone number and you call them when you are ready to be picked up. Super simple and convenient. Very big plus. All in all a great stay and would highly recommend this place.

Perfect Location

Great location complemented by wonderful staff made our stay in this lovely condo a real pleasure. The unit has been completely redecorated in a tasteful fashion. It provided all the supplies we needed for our stay. The immediate access to the outdoors made getting to the slopes a breeze. If renting the ski shop is on the way. The underground parking keeps cars snow free during the ski season. The hot tub and sauna provided great relief at the end of a long ski day. We would definitely stay at Lions Square and in this unit again.

Nice Resort, Great Unit. Steps from Gondola

This unit is as close to the Gondola as you can get. It is in a beautiful resort. 90% of the unit is brand new including an incredible kitchen. I cannot think of anything negative regarding our stay other than it did get hot at night. We never thought to crack a window because we are from FLA and figured we could become popsicled. We would love to visit again.

Great location and clean!

Superb location in Lionshead Village!! If you go to Vail to ski, this condo is perfect. The Eaglen Bahn gondola and Born Free lifts are 30 yards from the building. We rented skis at the Charter Sports which is literally the next door down in the condo (10 ft away). The Mexican restaurant in Lion Square Lodge has great food too. There is no view but it was not an issue for us. Owners had a bottle of wine there to welcome us. Nicely renovated kitchen if you want to do your own cooking. Everything was so easy. It was nice being one of the first people on the lift. We'd definitely stay here again.

Great Vail Stay!

My husband and I stayed in this condo for New Years. It was perfect, clean and beautiful kitchen and bathroom. Perfect location. Could accommodate 4 people comfortably, and kids would do great on pullout sofa. Got hot at night despite heat off - open window cools off quick. Right beside ski shop and just minute walk to lift. I hated to leave! Will stay again!

Great Location

you are paying for location -- ski in, ski out made this ideal for us. we also brought our 4 year old, so it was nice being close to ski school. would have preferred more kids channels for our 4 year old. not a big deal. would have preferred later check out (10am), and earlier checkin (4p) but again not a big deal. exercise room was oddly enough in another building across parking lot. Charter sports/ski store next door was nice. no view through windows but we were outdoors most of the day anyways. place was clean and neat. housekeeping changed our towels every day. overall it was great!

A great place to stay!!!!!!!!!

I was skeptical at first because this unit is priced much lower than other units in this lodge. I am glad I took a risk. I have been coming to Vail on and off for 15 years and this is by far my favorite place. Jeanette accurately describes her unit; it's very comfortable, updated and very clean. You get treated like royalty from the time you arrive until the time you leave. The ski valet at the end of the day is a wonderful treat. It's truly a ski in/ ski out.

Great unit, can't get any closer

Great property and you cannot get closer to the slopes than this. Grab your skis from the ski valet and walk maybe 20 steps from the building to the gondola. For those familiar with Vail, this is the property just to the left of the skier bridge as you come down from the mountain to the base of Lionshead. The only way you could get closer would be if they built some condos on top of the gondola! The unit itself is clean, modern, and tastefully furnished. No view, but it is literally next door (as in, the next door over from yours in the building) to the Charter Sports location so if you are renting (or in my case, getting skis waxed), it can't get any easier. 2 full baths make it easy for a party of 3 or 4 to all get ready in the morning and clean up at the end of the day. The parking is underground and on the same floor as the unit, making bringing your luggage in a breeze. The staff was excellent - exceedingly helpful and friendly. We loved the ski valet, with his hot cocoa and cider and cookies waiting as we just got off the slopes. The facility's sauna and whirlpool were great for an apres-ski soak/steam. The owner was easy to reach and helpful in describing the property in detail to us before we booked it. Pros: -clean, modern, well kept -proximity to the gondola (~20 steps) -ridiculously close to rental store (next door - maybe 8 feet) -ski valet and staff were excellent -free underground parking -access to spa, hot tubs, lockers Cons: -no mountain view, but hey.... you can't always get it all. Would recommend to others and would definitely rent again.
