Our secluded 2,500 square foot home is fully equipped to accommodate! Our home is located just beyond the Stuart, VA town limits. There is only one other home in site. The kitchen is stocked and ready to cook a full course meal. The stove and oven are gas. Please feel free to use items found in the refrigerator and pantry.

The spacious home is beautifully designed for a quiet weekend. Sip on coffee on the large deck that over looks a small stream.

Master bedroom is located on the main floor has a king size bed with bathroom: walk-in shower and jacuzzi tub.
Bedroom #2 is located on the main level with a queen size bed.
There are two bedrooms upstairs. An additional bedroom can be found in the basement.

Our home is equipped with Blink security cameras. You will find the cameras at the front door, deck and basement door.

Looking for adventure? Hanging Rock State Park or a NASCAR experience at the Martinsville Speedway. Other area attractions include: Mt. Airy, NC and Andy Griffith Museum, Mabry's Mill, Stanburn Winery, Chateau Morrisette Winery, Primland Resort, Villa Appalaccia Winery, hiking, fishing, Wood Brothers Racing Museum, Floyd Fest, Front Porch Fest, quaint shops and restaurants.

For infants and toddlers: A portable crib is stored in closet in the guest bedroom on the main floor.

No pets.
No parties.
Internet is provided and is strong enough to stream movies while working from home.

We visit our home regularly. Please be respectful of our personal items throughout the home.

Perfect Place!

Beautiful home! Clean, homey, provides everything you could need. A very private setting, however close to everything. For those of us who stayed at the home and for those family members that lived locally and visited, we had the best time. We laughed, told stories, played Corn Hole, cards, took walks (and saw a bear), shopped, barbequed on the grill, made meals in the well stocked kitchen to share with family, and the best thing of all we made great memories. This "Gathering House" is true to it's name. A wonderful experience for our entire family. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful place to stay

The house was clean, and the necessities were all provided. We've stayed there multiple times and have really enjoyed our stay. The house provides so much for our large family. The only concern we had was the deck. It seemed to not be real sturdy one side especially. Otber than that everything was wonderful.

Our Motorcycle trip

We stayed at Rick and Christy's property for 2 nights on our motorcycle trip from Canada to Tail of Dragon, their place was ideal for 6 of us with plenty of rooms and the kitchen had almost everything for cooking a meal. Just a note to our fellow bikers; the driveway from the road to the house is gravel and it is a bit challenging to ride, please be cautious.

Family Getaway

My family had a wonderful time. This location was perfect for our visit to Fairy Stone State Park, Floyd, Meadows of Dan, and a couple of other small towns. Although our river float plans were rained out, there was plenty to do at the house. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook family meals. It was a wonderful experience.

Togetherness

The Gathering Place is aptly named. We have stayed in the past and this visit was even better than the last. The property has the amazing ability to offer total and complete privacy but without sacrificing being close to everything. Minutes from restaurants, Walmart, the gorgeous DeHart Park, and easy access to the highway... but still away from everything. We had a night where we just sat on the hill and listened to the night fall and watched as fireflies lit up the trees like Christmas lights. We loved having the pack & play, baby gate, and high chair easily accessible. The layout of the house is perfect for family togetherness. We did some cooking, enjoyed some reading, and the kids loved the toys and exploring the beautiful yard. We did a day in Greensboro and a day in Winston Salem. The location makes it easy to get to. Highly recommend the house and the owners.

Perfect location for relaxing getaway

This home was so welcoming and comfortable. We were visiting my mother who had moved to a nearby assisted living facility in Stuart. It was a perfect spot to take her to spend time with us. We will surely be back.

Great Time in Stuart Va

We had a wonderful time staying at the house. Super clean, quiet neighborhood, great WiFi! We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the deers & turkeys. Nice backyard with the babbling brook. Would definitely stay there again!

Canadian Thanksgiving

None of us are Canadian, but it makes a convenient annual holiday for three brothers, with their wives, to get together. Sometimes we are joined by cousins, but it happens because they promised their mother before she died that they would always remain close to one another. We enjoyed the spacious house and beautiful grounds as we relaxed and enjoyed being together. It was very welcoming and was perfect for our visit!

Makes you feel at home

A Breath of Fresh Air

The Gathering House is a gorgeous, meticulously kept home. It was even better than described. We had more space than we needed and the kids loved that there were so many toys available to use. We really enjoyed the property, walking down to the creek, and exploring in the woods. We had this magical moment where we came upon a fawn drinking from the creek and she bounded away when she saw us. Beautiful. We enjoyed wine on the deck watching the fireflies come out and then coffee at the oversized dining table. There was a book with great local favorites of things to do and we managed to check out three different Stuart "must-see" spots. It was truly a wonderful stay. My six-year-old was a little disappointed that we couldn't stay forever. While extremely rustic and removed, the house is so convenient, with Walmart, Wendy's, a wonderful restaurant, and Stuart's downtown area literally less than 5 miles away. I hope to stay again, and probably will bring more people!

Amazing property

Rented the house for a 3 day weekend to meet up with some friends and go to a local event that was happening. House is clean, with plenty of room for the 6 of us (all grown men), fantastic yard and just an all around awesome visit. Will be returning for a family vacation soon. Can't go wrong with the gathering house.

Great location

Beautiful home snuggled in a mountaintop! My family had our Christmas get-together here and we had a lovely time. Great location and a well-equipped kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed a soak in the large jetted tub! The only thing was we couldn’t get the fireplace to come on. I messaged the owners about it and they quickly responded that there were instructions in the visitor notebook that was there with various information including how to turn on the fireplace but alas no dice. So just a heads-up for any future guests although to be fair “fireplace “ was not listed in the amenities (so my bad) I just got confused when I saw it in the pictures. Otherwise a very nice getaway. I enjoyed exploring the creek and we lit up the fire pit on the large deck. Too bad it wasn’t snowing lol.

Great place to stay! So cozy!

We loved staying at the Gathering House. Everything was so nice and cozy! Loved the Christmas tree! The place was simply outstanding with the exception of the TV. We didn't have cable to watch TV. But otherwise, we loved every minute!

Anfitrión: Christy Menear

We are both educators. We worked in Stokes County, North Carolina for 14 years until relocating to Greene County, Pennsylvania. Rick is a principal at Bobtown Elementary School. Christy teaches Special Education to students with moderate to severe disabilities.

We have three beautiful children who keep us extremely busy. Austin is in pharmacy school at High Point University. Clay is attending Pierpont Technical School learning how to be a mechanic on small engine airplanes. Ella is a senior in high school who is looking forward to attending the University of Alabama.

Rick spends any free time he can find in the woods.

We plan to return to Stuart after we retire.
